This is indeed a basic, low priced DVD burner, and performs admirably, however mine began acting up two days ago, and finally called it quits today. It managed 2 years and 2 months.Meanwhile, I have a pile of still functional LG (IDE) units next to my desk, which I can no longer use as my motherboard has no IDE controller. Two of them were purchased in 2006. They were very, very heavily used, and are still fully functional to this day. Didn't get that out of my less abused Samsung.Not a bad device, but at this price, I might go for a different brand. |

If you need an internal burner, look no further. This will tide you over and is more than capable of doing what you need it to do. For those occasional installs and rips. |

Needed a basic DVD writer for a new Media PC build (New MBs do not support old IDE drives anymore so could not reuse old ones). Seems quieter than my LG writer (at least reading, not sure about burning yet). The price was unbeatable and the reviews seemed positive. Fit the bill. |

This is your standard burner, nothing fancy... Works out of the box, can be price matched most of the time to $15. Not much to say about this, Samsung makes decent products though it is a little loud, could be because the mounting plates in my case suck. Review still too short, it's a burner, not much else to say. It comes as 22x black, maybe white I don't know. |

i was in neeed of a basic dvd no blue-ray writer, especially for clonezilla, since my old ide drive can't be used on my new SB-E motherboard.It do the job and is pretty fast.at $17.99 w/ bargain it's not bad |
