functions slow atech - thanks, I followed your tips; deleted the Principal IDE channel (Properties check showed it had been set at PIO only). I rebooted, it reinstalled, is now set at DMA if accessible. Alas, it didn't modify my drive's speed challenge one particular iota, still only 1.3x on typical for DVD-R. But it a great attempt! Any other advice, any person?

none, at all. fairly substantially total junk. By no means was able to burn a dvd-dl with it, worked for 5 months then could no longer burn a dvd/cd without errors, then the study speed slowed so badly it took over 45 minutes to install windows 7.

Works as intended, I've not had any issues with it for the previous 9 months- not almost as loud as the original DVD-ROM drive that came with my pc. IDE cables take up a lot more space than SATA

Really sleek looking. Fairly quiet and fits my Antec 902 case in size, colour, and top quality. Sometimes the computer will shut down with the tray still open. I don't know why it does that and it's only occurred about twice as far as I can bear in mind. Not some thing you want to occur to a pc that sits on the ground.

Affordable?NewEgg handled the return/refund very nicely. Strait out of the box it would not read CD or DVD media. Returned it. Second 1 reads CD's, but could not study DVD's. Two in a row - failed as quickly as they were plugged in. Not suggested. Quite handful of IDE dual-layer DVD writer's readily available anymore so you get stuck choosing from turkey's like this 1.

It works great. Can be a tiny noisy when in use of course. This was my only mess up on my make, I did not look at the fact it is IDE and not Sata. But it operates excellent and no difficulties.

The drive is spartan, but does the job. I bought it to replace an HP drive that began to have assorted issues. No analogue audio out. No Litescribe, but I never use that anyway. I may possibly acquire the SATA version of this when I have the cash to make a new machine.

Performs out of the box. kinda noisy, and it did stink a small on the very first couple of burns. works good. oem implies you get the drive, fully grasp its just a bare drive.

Low-cost EIDE/ATAPI drive. Quiet and correct. No screws or rails or directions -- ideal for a tech savy installer. In use five minutes following it arrived -- have burned about 20 DVDs already. Suggested.

It functions and hasn't died yetCost The initial one i recieved was doa. Had to get an rma. Newegg sent me a new a single and this one particular has held up. I bought it to replace a drive for a consumer of mine who didn't have the capacity to run a Sata drive.

None My XP OS doesn't recognize the the drive. I have attempted anything I know to attempt. Firmware need to be the most up-to-date according to the label on the drive: F/W SB02 September 2010. Hold finding hardware installation error messages. Great thing it was so inexpensive or I may possibly be a small far more upset!

Excellent drive when it worked; quiet and quick; uncomplicated set up in Vista Ultimate; didn't hic-up or throw fits, didn't burn coasters and frisbees; didn't stay out late and never ever partied also substantially on the weekends; fairly much a no-fuss drive at a fantastic cost. It died significantly less than 90 days right after I purchased it. Anything electrical and mechanical will eventually fail - I just want it wasn't so soon. The light would come on strong throughout POST and under no circumstances went out even when you pushed the eject button. Some thing inside just had sufficient. The drive's manufacturer date was January 2010 so it wasn't new "old stock". I hate to sound like my father when I say they just don't make issues like they applied to. I love Samsung and I'll undoubtedly purchase far more of their stuff - they're a great organization.

quiet, fantastic drive. none i want i had waited and gotten a SATA DVD burner, but happy. Huge improvement in rip speed over the CD drive i was employing.

Simple to install and performs as advertised. This is genuinely nitnoid: the black open/close button is tough to see when used with an all-black case.
