Could not get this to work, the ArcSoft Photoimpressions 6.1 wouldn't run and froze up. I had ACDsee pro on my computer so I tried it with the scanner and it works great. I've erased Photoimpressions and have no problems now. I think this is a great scanner for slides and negatives.

No problems installing on my Windows7 computer. Easy to use. Photo editing software works well. I scanned over 200 slides in a few hours, and am very happy with the quality.

When I looked at the price per roll to transfer all of my and rolls of film slides to digital images at the drugstore, I knew it was not going to happen unless there was an alternative way. Well this is my alternative way to transfer all of my slides to digital records. I like it, it is easy to operate and the image quality is good.

i had some difficulties with placing the film in the film tray but otherwise works pretty good. Even fixed some off the negatives i had that went through an xray machine.

Scanner is good, the software needs improvement. It does not save as jpeg and all the files are 24mb. But it works.

i've got a computer with xp-pro sp3 running at 3.2ghz with 2gb ram. after running software and following directions, right off the bat this scanner gave me problems. it would scan but then it would lock up. i tried all the pic settings from low quality to high quality. i tried both the tif and jpg formats and both froze up. the manual says it takes 5-10 seconds for the pic to stabilize the white balance. it is more like 5 minutes per pic. each slide that i have tried to scan has ended up with the program not responding. i've rebooted several times and that doesn't seem to help. i've entered msconfig under start-up tab and only my antivirus running in the background with this program. my temp cache is empty and my system gets defragged at least once daily. my hard drive has 290gb free space. to me, this item is a joke. do not buy. it does not work.

The ION works as advertised. I had no problems installing the system with Windows 7. It performs as I had hoped it would. I am now able to save all of my dad's slides from Vietnam and distribute them to family members.

Worked well, but seemed I had a hard time getting the exposure right! (Might have been the slides. They are old!) I scanned about 450 slides. Very satisfied with results.

Hi Tiger, thanks for the e-mail asking for how's it doing. Does not work with Win 7 64-bit. But works fine with Vista 32-bit, so not a return to sender priority. Otherwise is very fast scanning a slide, but as do most scanners, only 3 slides in the tray, will take beyond days to transfer several thousand 35mm slides. Marsh

I had a bunch of old, I mean old slides and wanted to get them on a JPEG format, this ION was a great price, easy to use and did the job.

I'm running Win 7 and had no problems plugging this little baby in. Love the small foot print (with all the junk in my office, space is at a premium). If you read the Quick Start Guide setup is a breeze. When I got around to reading the instructions, everything worked a lot faster. When scanning a slide, you MUST let it sit for about 5 seconds for it to adjust to get the best image. I wish the scan tray took more than 3 slides because I have a couple of thousand slides to scan, but that's just me finding something to complain about. For the price, you can't complain, this thing seems to be a little work horse.

I forgot to add that the one thing that didn't quite measure up was the length of time it took to scan and transfer the digital files to my hard drive. It did scan - and very quickly I might add - but you may want to factor in the time you take reviewing the pictures and naming them. I found myself overly taken with seeing pictures from so many decades ago and their impact. I spent more time looking and less time clicking from slide to slide in an efficient manner. But it's certainly been fun!

Installed the ION. Tried to calibrate. Entire system locked up. Had to get different usb ports. After lengthy discussion with ION Tech Support finally got the scanner to calibrate. But that's it. Still haven't gotten it work. I will return it.

Save your money. Buy a flatbed scanner that works with slides.

The ION scanner is easy to use and produces good quality digital photos from negatives and slides. Some of our 40 year old 35mm negatives have come back to life...one of our East Coast relatives is researching family history and we were able to electronically send pictures to him via email. The scanner software supports color adjustment and cropping. We are pleased with the purchase. Thanks.

Others may have had trouble, but I had none. Installed as expected on my XP machine. It took a few tries to figure out what buttons to push to get a scan, maybe a bit more of a user manual would have helped. Once I figured it out it did a good job - great job for the price. If the slide is good quality, the scan will be good - you can't expect more than that.

I am always a little skeptical about whiz bangs. That being said, I am extremely happy with the Slide 2 PC product. Extremely easy to use, easy to set up, and supplies great reproductions of my slides. With close to 5,000 slides that need to be converted, I was dreading doing the scanner thing. This product reduces the time per slide to under 20 seconds. Too bad there isn't a Photo DVD writer software that comes in the bundle. Oh, yeh - reboot your machine with the unit plugged in to get good results. If for reason the software doesn't install properly the first time, clean your registry and then reboot. Fred

I can get this thing to work, but in order to do that I had to disable my WinVista 32-bit laptop's built-in Webcam and unplug most of my USB devices. The fault appears to be with the device driver, not the bundled software, although I could be wrong. Even once I got it working, I still had to restart the software about every three or four slides. About every dozen or so, I had to restart the PC completely. This may work for you, if the device driver gets along with your PC's configuration. For me, however, it looks like an exchange for something else. I CANNOT recommend this item. That's a shame, because it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.

At 70 years of age and well over 50 years experience working with various film cameras, I have yet to find a scanner that comes close to this little gem. I received this as a Christmas gift and in these few days have already scanned in over a hundred 35mm Negatives to my desktop PC. I had no problem loading or using the software in a 64bit new OS on my PC. My only fault is that it does not provide for scanning other film sizes.
