Cons:
Huge waste of packaging as the box is twice as big as the Startech 3.5IN IDE/SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure USB 2.0 eSATA sku#43663 Part#UNI3510U2EB and the Startech enclosure is 50% thicker than this Samba unit. Requires screws & screwdriver to securely assemble/disassemble. No fan included. Mail-in rebates take 5-6 months to arrive but they always do arrive.
Pros: Slim, reliable, nice sky blue coloured metal, compatible with both PATA & SATA drives, it's as fast as any other good USB 2.0 enclosure, light weight, comes with a removeable screw on vertical stand, SATA & PATA drive cables included, power switch, blue LED button on front flashes for activity, great price, reliable, includes placeholder for an internal fan. The $10 mail-in rebate makes this very competitive. Two prong power plug. |

Excellent product. Easy to use. Fast. Looks great!!! I would buy again. Great price. I have tried other chassis before but this one is great. I like the simple power supply that comes with it. Not the usually multi-pin type which are very hard to replace if you had to. |

Cons: Plastic front and rear face plates may break if this thing gets abused.
Pros: Straight forward installation, decent documentation, all parts needed included (except hard drive of course!), does PATA *and* SATA right out of the box! Comment:
Good buy, decent price, easy to use and seems quite well built. Using it for an older PATA ('IDE') drive for now but this thing will happily take a newer bigger SATA drive in the future. |
