Cons: lose all data if computer crashes

Pros: cheaper than a lobotomy
Comment:
Installed this drive into my 2010 iMac. Worked like a dream for one month. Then one day the computer froze so I powered it off. All data permanently lost and drive reports 8MB. This is the infamous "8MB bug" and as of Fall 2011 it is definitely NOT FIXED.Intel's firmware update  tool reports the drive already had the September 4PC10362 firmware, which supposedly addresses this problem:http://i.imgur.com/wjt4z.jpgSo basically to use the drive again I would have to put it in a Windows machine and perform a secure erase. Brutal.Obviously nobody in their right mind would use this product for anything other than a swap drive. I tried to give it one star, but since I ordered it in-store the system won't let me.

Cons: none

Pros: external link kit (a real bonus, make sure the Intel part# ends with B5)
Comment:
bought this one as a system drive for a notebook. Did not opt for an OEM version because the price difference was so small and I was curious about the difference between the standard retail (with bracket) and this one (with bracket + external kit). The external kit turns out to be pretty slick and useful: a protecting rubber glove for the disk (can be used with conventional 2.5" HDD as well) and a USB to SATA adapter. The USB end seems to be USB 3 (connector is blue9 the SATA end I don't know yet. The cables (there a second USB plug is required for power) are a bit short, And the SSD? only time will tell. I needed stability more than performance, so I went with Intel instead of a sandforce controlled OCZ
