Cons: Didn't last as long as I thought they should

Pros: Good price per GB
Comment:
I bought two of these about three years ago. They both just died. The warranty was only one year. But I think hard drives should last closer to five years. If only one of the two drives failed, I would have given a higher rating. But with both of them failing, the odds of it being a random issue are lower.

I ordered 2 along with a DS415play. The drives were loose in the box from NCIX and one drive is DOA, will not initialize. Waiting for NCIX business hours to open to call/visit.

Not sure why but I decided this seems to have good reviews so I bought it over the WD because it was cheaper at the moment, I should have stuck with WD, 2 months in and this thing already starting to make noise, can't RMA now so i'll just have to put all the things I can afford to lose on this thing...sigh seagate, If you're deciding between this and the WD 2TB hard drives stick to WD folks, I have 3 2TBs from them and not one of them has been giving me trouble in the past 3 years.

I have never had any problems with Seagate HDD so far (knock on wood). Got this one for $80 which is quite nice considering 1TB is 50 bucks.Drive runs quiet and without hiccups. Transfer speed seems a bit slow for 7200rpm drive, but really not much different from other brands.

considering the price, this is the HDD you are looking for.nothing need to be mentioned so far.you know this is Seagate, and it's nothing more than a SATA3 7200rpm HDD.didn't compared with the WD Black, so I don't know if it's faster or if it's quiter

Pros: Fast, Well priced, No issues
Comment:
A solid, 7200rpm hard drive that provides 2tb's of space at one of the best prices i've come across. Not much to say which is a good thing for hard drives, no problems with it running properly, and no problems installing it in my computer.

I've bought a few of these to use as storage drives. They work fine, are reasonably quick for a HDD, and have lasted me well. I do wish they carried a longer warranty, but hardly any drives do any more.

Cons: Very unreliable drives

Pros: When it work it does it's job
Comment:
Ok, I've been using Seagate drives for more than 15 years. They never let me down and I was happy (until recently). I even still have a couple of barracudas from 2004 (more than 10 years). Looks like the good story ends. I bought 3 1.5TB drives to use them in NAS. 1 drive started to move bad sectots, bough 4 WD 2TB drives and installed them in NAS. 3 Barracudas went into my desktop in RAID5. Very soon one failed and was sent for warranty exchange. Two others failed too but only when warranty expired. So, I read that 1.5 TB was bad drives and Seagate "fixed problem" in next drives. I started to replace failed drives with 2TB version. And once I replaced my last out of warranty 1.5TB with seconds 2TB version. The one 2TB I bought about a year ago failed!!! What a crap, I never had electronics fail that often. So total of 5 drives I bough 4 faild! Two out of warranty and they are just sent to recycle.

Pros: Silent, stable, economic
Comment:
This drive has been great for 2 months, lots of heavy use. I put it in a mini-stack from OWC and it is virtually silent. I just found a receipt from only 3 years ago where a 2TB drive was over $300, so getting this for less than $100 is a great deal.

Cons: Not as fast as an SSD (like all mechanical hard drives).

Pros: Fast, quiet, works great!
Comment:
Seagate's new series of SSD's are very quick and reliable, especially the 1 and 2 platter variants (1TB and 2TB). I've got another two that have already lasted over a year with zero hiccups or anything.

I got this hard drive as a last-ditch budget effort to complete my absurdly expensive computer, and I have no regrets. The price-to-performance ratio is amazing, I've had no issues so far. now that I see how good these drives are they are the ONLY drives I recommend for budget solutions.
