Cons: Always could be faster but a spin of 7200 RMP is good enough for streaming video, I would not go with a slower disk.

Pros: It's a straight forward dependable internal 3TB Hard Drive. Its a modern day miracle that you can buy 3TB for just above $100.
Comment:
Its easy to install onto your motherboard or insert  into an enclosure. NCIX has great service, really fast shipping, 2 or 3 days to get it, and the best price.

I've had several of these 3TB drives in the past. In total only one has been DOA. The others have performed well for almost a year now, under constant use. Good bang for the buck.

Cons: Died after 3 years of operation in SAN

Pros: When they work, I guess they are just fine.
Comment:
I bought 2 of these with my QNAP SAN. One of them died today after 3 years of operation and the other one is actually in "Warning" state with bad sectors, etc. I suppose for the price it's "OK" but I am going to try the WD Red this time around.

Cons: Had it since December 2012 and it is now starting to make clicking sounds in 2015 Feburary. HD Tune showed (0A) Spin Retry Count and (B8) (unknown attribute) beginning to fail. Right after my warranty expired too. This one was a replacement as well, first one came damaged in shipping with the plastic wrapping paper being indented with the hard drives components.

Pros: Had no problems until it failed me
Comment:
Have three other western digital drives, only one that failed did so after 7+ years, this is my most recent hard drive and it is the only other one that is failing. Will not be buying seagate products ever again.

Pros: 3Tb at this price right now is great! Especially if you can get this with free shipping like I did. I've had a 1TB but I noticed it was getting slow for recording gameplay videos. So I bought this, and it has such better speeds than my old one! No dropped frames at all. Using DXTORY, I get around 190mbps. Just so you know if you are comparing.
Comment:
Something with this size is a great buy at this time. If you can hold off for maybe a few more months, 4TB may end up getting cheaper. I've always loved having a Seagate drive for my mechanical hard drives.

Cons: Lackluster warranty.

Pros: Decent speeds, great $/GB ratio.
Comment:
This drive is fantastic for the price that you pay for it. At time of purchase, you get almost 25GB per dollar (versus 15GB per dollar on the WD Caviar Blacks). The only gripe that I have is that the warranty should be at least 3 years, if not 5 years. Personally, I have 5 Seagate drives that I have been running for several years that haven't had any issues. As always, your mileage may vary. As a data drive for games and documents, it works well. And if you're concerned about it failing, you should always be running a RAID1 array if you're storing sensitive data. Plan ahead, folks! You can only blame yourself if you lose your data!

Well, it worked while it lasted but failed without any warning even though I had been monitoring its SMART levels (via Munin graphs)...I gave Seagate the benefice of the doubt but it seems I'll stick to WD or others...

Cons: Died suddenly (click of death) after 2 years and 3 months.

Pros: big and fast
Comment:
Was used in a roomy case with good airflow and a low power system. Low cycle counts, very favourable conditions. Failed 3 months after end of warranty. After the recent failure of a 2TB Barracuda LP from 2011 (at exactly 3 years, with a 3 year warranty), I will be VERY wary of buying another "made in china" Seagate drive.

Cons: 1 out of 2 failed in under 2 years

Pros: Big, cheap, fast
Comment:
I bought 2 of these just under two years ago. One has just recently failed. I don't use them very heavily. If I had the time, I'd order another one of the same to replace it. But I'm not sure I can wait. Plus I may prefer to upgrade to 4TB this time around. Either way, I'm likely to buy Seagate again.I'll probably attempt a warranty claim since it has been less than 2 years. I've never had to make a warranty claim with Seagate before. I guess that says something positive.

Great drive. I have two 1.5gb seagate drives for 4 years used in a htpc and one 2tb WD green. The WD died, so i replaced it with this instead of another Green. Slightly higher price, but I think this drive is more reliable.I would buy this again - WD green, not so much.

Comment:
I've been running 4 of these drives in RAID-10 for a backup array. They run great. I ordered 3 more for hot swap in the event of a failure....which hasn't happened yet. Some people say they are loud, I think they must have something wrong with their drives because mine are dead silent running full tilt. Solid drives for the money.

Cons: None to worry about

Pros: Great $/TBGood read/write speeds
Comment:
Great drive that you can often find on sale, picked mine up for $89. Decent read/write speed and overall fairly reliable. I have had 4 of these drives so far, 2 running great still, 1 failed after 8 months, and just got a new one. If you are looking for extreme performance, you are not going to find it here (better off with Western Digital Black) or NAS level reliability (Western Digital Red) but this is a great drive if you are looking for large storage at a budget price. If you can find one under $100 (at the time of this review) you can bet you won't find a better deal out there.

Comment:
Solid drive when you get a good one. Great for raid, but I'd recommend getting the NCIX warranty or choosing another manufacturer that offers a longer warranty. THe ones from Thailand are the good ones, the ones from China tend to fail higher.

I bought this to add to my Shuttle OmniNas as a raid mirror drive, media server. Drive formatted real easy and worked great with OmniNas. Bought this for $99 on Black Friday sale so happy of the price. I feel paying more then $100 for a 3.5 HDD is to much so waited until went to the price I like.
