Just called Seagate: The ES.2 model differs from the standard class drives in that they have added vibration dampening components inside the drive, and are more heat resistant, taking MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) from 700,000 hours to 1,000,000+. Just in case you wanted to know... (stephenb@pcofmindtech.com @ PCofMind Technologies Computer Consulting 877.472.6463)Thanks! |

Worth the extra cost. Vista ultimate 64 gives it a 6.4 rating. That breaks the 5.9 barrier every one is stuck at. (exception to RAID) I plan on buying a second one for RAID to see what the rating is. Very fast seek and game loads. |
Spent the extra $$ and went with this drive since it is enterprise quality and I have been pretty lucky with Seagate drives. After 5 months, it had the dreaded clicking noise. So had to jump through hoops returning it (they have detailed packaging instructions and must be followed to a T). They are sending a replacement but what about all the info that was lost and crashed in only 5 months? I'm going to only use the new on only as a scratch disk. Disappointing to say the least!
