Pros: Quiet, low power, fast transfer rate Comment:
Very quiet drive. Transfer rates are almost as good as the Barracuda 7200.12 series, but the seek time (~16 ms) is much inferior. However, as a low-power storage drive, it is perfect. Hopefully it doesn't suffer the same early death fate as some of the other Seagates. |

This is a great harddrive have not yet had a problem with it and it runs smooth and fast. It is a great harddrive when i got it for $70 and it was a great deal needed to upgrade for 250GB. Overall this is a great product |

Bought this hard drive for my file server and it does what it's supposed to do at a great price! May not be the quietest drive around, but it's sitting in a server and not in my personal machine, so it's all good. Can't find anything better for a lower price, that's for sure! |

Good solid performing storage drive, no problems at all.It's really funny how some people state that the 5900rpm is a weakness for this drive, when this is a LP (low power) model. This is the whole point of manufacturing this type of drive for the consumer so it is cheaper, power efficient, cool and quiet with obvious lower performance than the 7200rpm drives. The 5900rpm specification for this drive is actually a strength because without it this 1TB drive solution for $70 wouldn't exist. So if you want a 7200rpm drive just go pay the premium and buy it. |

1TB w $70. Best price by far. It runs smoothly. Only drawback is I would appreciate faster rpm speed. The GB size and price great makes this hdd for a great storage option. Installation fairly straight forward. Just remember to buy your sata cable. I forgot to. |

This is a great hard drive for the money. I liked the first one I bought so much that I had to go out and order a second a few days later!Both have been in my file server and performing acceptably with no errors. I don't know how much more I can expect from a hard drive in a file server, than to say that it works. I have noticed no bottlenecks coming from my SATA bus, and the drive seems to be operating at an acceptable speed. I might just go and buy a third... |

If you get a drive with the faulty firmware, the drive can be problematic, but that's fixable with a firmware update. Otherwise, it's a TB of storage, and works well. |
Perfect fit for cheaper backups and large file storage (e.g. DVD rips). I can't see any performance difference between this and 7200.12 full-power versions even on a Blu-Ray rip but your milage may vary as an OS drive. Highly suggested as a cheaper alternative for backups...which you know you need to do.
