Cons: Getting the finer details (i.e. build location, more technical build data details etc.) can be a bit complicated with Seagate.

Got this as a replacement for an identical drive that I had for three years that failed with S.M.A.R.T. errors. Since I had a NAS configured in RAID1 I just popped out the faulty drive, popped in the new, resynched, and voila. It's a simple no-nonsense HD, just a bit miffed that the price went from 59 to 67 and back to 59 within days. |

Cons: Died after 3 years and 10 days and had a 3 year warranty so I guess my bad luck... 10 days out of warranty!

All in all, it worked as advertised but in the end, having a hard drive die 10 days after the warranty expires is never fun! |

Silent and Quick!Considerably more quickly than my Sata II Seagate @ 3Gbps interface.. SATA three @ 6Gbps is a joke! In no way it'll attain that. Dont think about ANY SATA drive on the server untill or unless its a element of RAID five and so forth. Interested in speeds go with SAS drives. |

Higher speed, SATA 3.!!! a bit noisy due to 7200 rpm I have to say that these Seagate HDDs are really excellent. It is said two% of seagate's drive have difficulty. I purchases two drives and use them as RAID , and right after 4 weeks function ྸ hourƫdaysƨweeks) the drives are nevertheless no dilemma. I also have a Hitachi 1TB and WD Green 1TB, so Seagate Barracuda is the very best, then Hitachi, ultimately, the WD Green. |

I bought two of these for $50 a piece and have not looked back. They are - in my opinion - better than Western Digital drives. I've always gone with WD in the past but my last few drives really crapped out in performance and ended up getting noisy within a year. Not to mention the few previous drives I owned from WD did not support APM (an important feature in my mind). |

Pros: Cheap Storage Comment:
Need 4x for a NAS. Kind of a catch 22 though since I want preformance, but don't need the capacity since their total capacity is combined inside the NAS.The only way to get better performance is to get larger capacity. SSDs are overkill and would be bottlenecked by the NAS. So these drives are a compromise, and at least they were relatively cheap on boxing day at 60$ a pop.They've been solid for 3 months so far, no complaints with respect to performance. |

I got this as a storage drive to supplement a ssd drive. It is working well and I hope I get a long life out of it. I have bought seagate drives for a long time and they seem to be good for about 4 years before crapping out. Too bad they don't have as good a warranty as they used to. |

I bought this drive expecting an older model drive that would be cheaper. That's what I got. It's still working after two months and hopefully will stay reliable. These seem to run hotter than the 7200.14 series but that's just from handling the drives, I haven't recorded actual temperatures. |
Still using 1TB drives instead of larger units to keep data.Very silent and cool.Also have one for OS. Data transfer is fast.
