I've bought two of these drives. The first was best, simple set up into bank 3 of my Mac Pro2,1. The second drive was installed in bank 4 and immediately after 12 hours it was dead. If you're looking for a quick replacement I'd steer clear of this drive. Appears to have a 50኎ opportunity of results. That stated, when it performs it's brilliant. However, if you finish up with a dead drive the RMA procedure takes far too lengthy if you're in a hurry.

None, it cost me ฤ to get a drive that died immediately after 15hrs of operation and 6hrs were just at idle. DOA would have been preferable. This just teased me into considering I was great to go and I place the time into configuring and restoring backups just before it died. It was also very good to be true! I must have just stuck with WD Black (ordered the replacement). Computer would get to end of POST and then seize really hard. I had to unplug 1 item at a time until I tracked it down to the Seagate.

None, 2 arrived DOA and the other 2 sounded like high pitched garbage disposals. Effectively as I stated in the Pros 2 arrived DOA and the other two has nasty crunching sounds. I gave seagate a chance because they utilized to be a fantastic company and these for 7200rpm and massive but I utilized RMA and newegg was really understandable about the situation and refunded my cash. I then went with my favored brand Western Digital and got their Green drives. These drives have fantastic specs but they are built badly. Infact I truly heard that Seagate recalled their 7200.11 drives so idk why Newegg is still promoting these.

Quiet NewEgg is great about shipping DOA difficult drives. Possibly they attempt to play basketball with them before they package? I dunno... I appreciate RMA's with newegg. This is Š for a hdd.

1.five TB adequate to store alot of stuff. Fantastic when it functions plugged it in, booted up and windows didn't recognize that some thing was connected. So I shut down the computer and messed around with the cords, then booted up and it recognized it but when copying information to it produced the complete laptop freeze up for a little while and was copying at 700kb's. I ran seaTools and it passed the short tests but failed the lengthy study and write tests. So i'm going to RMA but im upset that Newegg doesn't cover return shipping :/

-1.five TB=plenty of space-Only price 70$, cheaper than my 1TB usb drive-7200rpm=good information transfer speed-It's a sata drive -Not a con precisely because I knew what I was acquiring but it'll only score a five.9 on the Windows Practical experience Index whereas everything else scored a 7.2 or above so if you want one thing outrageously rapidly you may possibly want to get a 10 or 15k rpm drive -I have but to have a reason to not enjoy Seagate hard drives-Even if it was a lot more high-priced I would nevertheless say worth the funds-It IS a bare drive so you will require to get a sata cable separately if you don't already have 1

Installed in a Mac Pro2,1 as third drive to use as a Time Machine device. Anything is working completely. Access to Time Machine appears brilliant which I attribute to the 7200rpm speed and internal nature of the drive. None so far. This is a seriously super simple install and surely worth the time it requires.

Quite rapidly and affordable 7200rpm drive. It can be short stroked employing SeaTools and will carry out more rapidly than a WD Velociraptor and is low-cost mainly because absolutely everyone dislikes this drive so considerably! Drive can bring about issues in classic RAID systems due Seagate disabling ERC on their consumer level drives. I've had these drives even for the duration of the terrible firmware days that destroyed their reputation. I've under no circumstances had any of these drives die but have not run them in classic RAID arrays due to ERC being disabled. Based on what other individuals have stated and from my personal individual knowledge, I would say Seagate drives are really sensitive to the high quality of the energy coming from your energy provide. My 1.5TB drives all exist on machines with Corsair / SeaSonic power supplies with pure sine wave battery backups. If you commit great money on good quality power systems then these drives need to work fantastic and with out issue for years to come.

I was afraid of all the critiques of people obtaining DOA drives, but mine worked completely fine. It's quicker than my old hd, even though I can't tell how rapidly it essentially is thinking of this is my initial construct. None I'm not a computer system professional, and this portion was utilised throughout my first develop. Enthusiasts, ignore what I have to say.

The price tag was excellent at the time... I've had to send back three of these so far with varying problems of drive failures. Ever due to the fact they purchased Crashtor.. oops I imply Maxtor, Seagates qaulity has been the worst. If you value your information, then you'll value one more brand such as Western Digital superior!!!! So far I've had four Seagate drives crash on me in the final year out of the blue!!! Death to Seagate!!! Also newegg wants to repair their rating system mainly because I would give Seagate items no eggs.. and I will advise anybody who's getting difficult drives... Keep AWAY FROM SEAGATE!!!!!!!!!

Good value for a 1.5TB, a ton of storage space, must final my desires a while. Faster transfer speeds than my Caviar Black, quiet. As always Seagate has produced a excellent Tough Drive. none You can't go incorrect with Seagate, I have constantly preferred them over any other brand. In my expertise Seagate has usually been the best. Want I had bought one of these for my primary rig alternatively of the Caviar Black b/c it is more rapidly and quieter. I use this drive in my server for backups and as a shared drive for my property LAN. Will obtain another one when it's time to replace my backup backup drive.

Performs excellent, was really skeptical from reading the other testimonials and have been maintaining an ear out for that "click of death" that appears to plague most other hard drives ahead of failing. First-time technique builder and couldn't be happier with this tough drive. None If you're hesitant about getting this one particular due to the hit-miss ratio, I'd just go with the slightly additional costly brands and rest effortless. Otherwise, if it functions for you, it's a fantastic item.

No cause why, just got a 'HDD dying' message and had to RMA it Disappointed that it died so speedily, thinking about i've had other seagate drives for years devoid of troubles. Not negative for the value I got it for, but i'd be wary of getting it once more

I've run these drives for about 18 months now in a RAID 1 on a Matrix Raid ICH6 with out a single drop out of the raid or any difficulties with the CC1H firmware.Moved about 5 weeks ago to and ICH10 (Intel Matrix Raid eight.x) at RAID 10 and two days in drive just randomly drops from the Array. I assume half the individuals right here obtaining problems are most likely running ICH9-ten firware version eight. Purchased two new drives, Sensible reports they came with some already bad sectors, although they had been currently remapped and nevertheless have ample remap space and full capacity. I updated the firware on my ASUS P6T v2 Deluxe to a single that contains the new Intel Rapid Storage (ICH10) v10 firmware. I have not had a single drive drop out of the array since. I'm posting this in hopes it may possibly support some of you also obtaining difficulties to know that the older Intel Raid firmware on the ICH9-ten boards is at fault for RAID drop outs. There is simply not enough info out there to support individuals figure this difficulty out. Be sure to update your firmware and your OS application to the 10.x Rapid Storage if you are seeing drive drop out problems.
