Cons: FW issues

Pros: Good storage drive
Comment:
I was a bit hesitant ot buy this drive due to FW issues. But it seems it all have been fixed up and I haven't have any problems with it it the 2+ months I used it. Would reocmmend waiting for a sale, but other than that go for it !

Cons: Loud noise when transferring file sometimes but would not noticed if I was not reading other people post about the issue.

Pros: Very big HD for the price. Good to use as storage hard drive.
Comment:
Bought his on sale when it was $90. Have a lot of storage room. Sometimes make loud licking sound when transferring files. But after awhile sound disappear. So far have no issues. Have transferred all my files from smaller hard drive to the seagate and cannot tell the difference in transfer speed. Getting 80mb/s transfer speed windows7.

Cons: Slower than the WD 1.5TB green drives.Only 5900 rpm.

Pros: Low power consumption.Runs cool and quiet.
Comment:
This drive works great as a storage drive. It is slower than the WD 1.5tb green drives but I like Seagate drives better as they seem to be more reliable for me.

Cons: Not reliable

Pros: Cheap -- in both price and quality
Comment:
As indicated on my forum post, I bought one during the Black Friday in Canada sale. It worked perfectly for two weeks, after which it started clicking. Seagate RMA'd it with a brand new drive (not refurbished). That drive has now died, and I'm now waiting for another replacement. Not at all impressed with the drive, but I must say that Seagate's RMA procedure is excellent.

Cons: Stops working and then it's not so great.

Pros: Cheap, great when it works.
Comment:
I bought this when it went on sale for 89.99 after 5 days of usage, this drive started giving off this clicking sound. I connected it non raid and no with partitions on win7. everything was running smooth until the clicking came in.

Cons: so low power drive randomly turns itself off and will not be seen by computer until computer is rebooted, or when in a USB casing, the casing is turned off then back on.

Pros: The only strengths I can see this drive maybe having is that it is heavy enough to act as a paper weight. There is nothing useful about this drive at all.
Comment:
Avoid this HD like the plague. I bought it, and it was fine for about 2-3 weeks then it started to randomly disappear on me. I thought it was my controllers on my board so I moved it to an external housing. Same problem. Tired a few other housings and another computer..and it still randomly lost power. Sent it in to NCIX and wow, NFF. Got the drive back and on the first night the drive totally disappeared and I had to reboot my computer for it to be seen again. All power saving features are turned off on my PC so I know it is not a problem with my computer. Check out the forums on Seagate's website and on Tomshardware. This drive SUCKS and should be avoided at all costs. Get a Western Digital or a Hitachi instead.

Cons: May hang when copying large files. It could cost several hours to copy large size data. In my experience, if you copy data larger then 2GB, you will get problem.

Pros: Good price. Basically will save you 10% to 20% of money than a WestDigital in same capability.
Comment:
When copying large files, windows progress bar shows you need "10 minutes...", "9 minutes ...", and then suddenly "2 days ...", "40 days ...", and after around half an hour, it changes back to "5 minutes ...". This happens many times. I have experienced copying 10 GB data to this disk, it hung at least 2 hours. I didn't know how long exactly it cost, because it's the next morning I found the process is done.At first, I thought it could be a problem of Windows, but I tried a WD 1T, no such thing happened again. I checked internet, tons of people were complaining about Seagate Barracuda.

Cons: noisy for a low power disk

Pros: runs cool, cost per gigabyte is the best of any driove/ or size
Comment:
I bought this to replace a Western Digital 2TB drive that was failing. This drive cost 1/2 the price I paid for the WD a few months ago and while not being as quiet, seems to be quicker and runs very cool. I hope Seagate's firmware issue's are over and this drive lasts. I'll use it as a storage drive so hopefully I won't have any problems.

Pretty solid storage drive, it's a little slow and makes loud noises when you're writing on it but otherwise its a solid product.

The Seagate Barracuda LP 1.5TB 3.5IN SATA 5900RPM 32MB Hard Drive is as good as any slow and cheap HD IMHO. It's good for lots of storage on a tight budget. Picked it up for $90 on sale.
