2TB, low power, low price tag. Such a high failure price it's not even worth bothering with. Saw the adverse evaluations here, and decided they had received a negative batch or one thing. Ordered two, had to RMA 1 of them twice. Newegg issued a refund regardless of my request for a replacement, so I decided to choose 1 up a single at a local retailer. Poor sectors on that one particular as nicely. Seagate dropped the ball on this drive. "Made in China" on this drive didn't support matters, and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Constantly had a very good practical experience with Seagate till these drives.

Awesome drive lots of space, lots quickly for storing files. Worked excellent as quickly as i plugged it in. None yet. Not certain why so a lot of people gave poor ratings, i know most have been about DOA. Me and a couple of of my friends purchased a total of like eight of these, all of them worked completely not a 1 of them DOA.

Really low db, I cant hear it turn on/off with my case fans off and the challenging drive subsequent to it on. Much quieter than either of my other difficult drives.Huge capacity for low price. It claims low energy consumption, which more than the life of a drive is nice perk, esp on currently cheap drives. Slow, i averaged about 50mbps with 75mbps bursting.Whilst not terribly slow, its only about as quick as my three-4 year old drives (but were quick for their time so its not all undesirable). But if your like alot of persons who may buy this drive your purchasing it since you want it, not due to the fact you May well will need it. Copying 1.7 TB took about 3 daysdespite the fact that i did stop it a few instances to use the pc and forgot to restart it.it say it took at least 24 hours of actual operating time for the drive to fill itself great obtain, the only downside was non impressive speed.I wouldn't run windows on it, but it is a exceptional bulk storage drive for the cash.

Fantastic Worth for the Price because it is a bare drive. Bought two when on sale, wished to make a easy mirror. Known as Newegg, and received an RMA for the 1 drive with troubles. Just upgraded its firmware to CC35 and performed a lengthy format/erase operation and then a surface scan and they passed without concern (I normally do not do these two actions as these are "new" drives) and have also Never ever had SILENT corruption of information prior to till utilizing this drive, Ahead of getting I knew it had firmware troubles after reading it in the Seagate forums. Both drives necessary to be "force" upgraded from CC34 to CC35 making use of procedure outlined by Seagate, so as to prevent continuous idle recalibration drive-head CLICKING which shortens its lifespan considerably. Applied it for a couple of days on a DIY NAS working with ZFS file program and then the method showed Wise warning. I rebooted and performed a scrub and saw far more than 5 files had cksum errors in them. They had garbage information in them right after verifying with hex editor. ZFS recovered my data effectively from mirror. I took the terrible drive offline and immediately did a low level format which encountered a couple of hundred "Pending Bad Sectors" . A surface Scan identified a handful of hundred far more "Pending Terrible Sectors". Immediately after re-inserted drive into NAS (thinking Pending Sector can go either way), NAS software program's Clever indicated 556 Pending Sectors so far, and expanding, as an indication of imminent drive failure. ZFS saved my files by recovering terrible data from other drive. Newegg should wrap drives with an added layer of bubble wrap considering that the drive have a tendency to settle to one side of the box and UPS is a bit "rough" in handling them, it seems.Overall, I'm satisfied with my acquire.

I usually thought it would be unreliable because of how significantly trouble it was giving me through installation and formatting... all in all.. iam satisfied with this harddrive, i never ever had so much space before.. iam not certain what to do with it.

Big... effectively two TB anyway.I'm utilizing in an external case as a USB connection for further film storage.5400RPM drives don't get that hot ... so no heat troubles to speak of. None to speak of. Requires forever to run a disk verify (I always do a disk verify ahead of the fist time I use a new drive ... you under no circumstances know).** as usual, this passed without having issue. The average regular def film is about five GB (none compressed) and HD motion pictures are about 15 GB (none compressed)** right after you peal off the extras and unique functions. So, this is fantastic for about one hundred HD and 100 SD motion pictures~ give or take - the actual is 1.8TB)

Massive Capacity, Low Price tag, Quiet, Low Energy Consumption Not as quick as 7200 rpm, Not for Raid Servers Due to the fact I'm videographer I want lots of affordable space. I use it mostly for long term storage. I've owned it for a year with no issues so I got another one particular. I looked at the functionality reviews of 2TB drives and this was the fastest whilst also obtaining the lowest price. As far as the adverse comments all drives can fail and ppl with poor experiences are more probably to write reviews. If a drive is going to fail it’s going to do with in the very first week so I commonly have a trial period till I’m confident of its overall health. It would be good if it was faster but at this cost it’s really hard to complain.

Got a DOA. RMA'd to NewEgg. The new a single is right here and back just before another drive died in my RAIDZ volume. This is the only poor drive out of 6 that I've purchased. They are quiet, Large, and have cut the power bill. I merged 5 TB drives onto one particular server with ZFS RAIDZ for 7.2TB volume. Only four.8TB is employed and that's after turning off three machines. Effectively, issues commonly go well with an RMA, this one particular didn't. On the other hand, NewEgg created excellent on it in usual style. I went by way of their automated procedure and it had me ship the drive.... to the incorrect address. They had to re-ship it. So, some time passed. After I named twice, they sent it out immediately with no queries ask. I have a tendency to stick with Seagate. Nonetheless, it seems WD is much more rapid to place out greater capacity with less troubles. On the other hand, I'm also noticing that there are a lot of "recertified" drives on NE. Possibly I need to check into Hitachi? (I've already discounted Fujitsu. I've researched quite a few areas on the internet and locate they are reputable but quite energy hungry)

Major, cheap DOA, DOA, functions, DOA I bought a single locally and it worked fine.I ordered two, and they were both DOA. I RMA'd them for 2 a lot more, only one particular of them operates. Prepared to RMA the subsequent 1.It's not a power provide concern as other folks have stated. I'm running these in a Venus T5 RAID array with its own power supply. I didn't check the rating, but I would assume two drives in a five-bay array wouldn't overtax the power to cause clicking in the drives.I did individually attempt all 4 drives in a standlone eSATA external drive bay. three of the four failed the SeaTools simple test. None of them has Wise errors. It appears like NewEgg has gotten a negative batch of these along the way from China. I'll preserve RMAing until I get one that performs. These really hard drives are accessible just about everywhere. I order from right here for cost. Given that they are ฤ-30 significantly less right here with free of charge shipping than locally with tax, it's worth it to wait on the RMA procedure.

-Inexpensive / Cost-2 TB -Inexpensive / Not reputable I built a 12 TB array (RAID6) out of these (yes, not the finest drive for the job but also not for a essential organization atmosphere), so I necessary eight disks. NewEgg had a quota of five per client at the time.NewEgg packaged them in their now infamous MFR packaging with a layer of bubble wrap. 2 of the five drives received were defective.Sooner or later got 8 operating drives (and a 9th a single since I'm positive I'll need to have it). Soon after about two weeks (array is about 1Ǚ complete now) 1 of the disks is starting to separate itself from the pack and is reporting reallocated sectors. I have a script e-mail me every day status updates and the number jumped from 48 reallocated sectors last week to 157 as of nowadays (all of the other disks are excellent for now). Even with 157 reallocations though the health is still 97% (has to hit 36% ahead of Intelligent reports failure). You can bet I'll be RMA'ing it when it does.As often, you get what you spend for.

NE gave complete refund, paid for return shipping. Drives could be applied as fixed, slow tempo metronome. I still had to pay for initial shipping. Ordered 5 drives, five drives power up and merely make a slow, steady clicking noise.I might have accepted 1, perhaps two out of 5, but fiveǛ is certainly ridiculous.

Excellent drive functionality and value Other Seagate goods have had firmware issues in the previous. Shipped in new packing. Each drive came in it's personal box with internal holders to hold the drive suspended in it's box. Each drive was also in it's anti-static bag, appears like retail packing. Newegg would just pack the bear drive in it's anti-static bag in a box of packing peanuts. I had much more DOA from negative packing then solution failure.

I've bought hundreds of drives for a number of companies and I've never ever observed failure rates like these. How can four out of five drives be terrible, in a row????

My only challenge is I had one drive arrive dead as a door nail. not confident why door nails are dead, but this one particular is. I purchased two for a RAID setup and the other 1 is clicking loudly on boot. I purchased 2 additional of these drives so that I can comprehensive my RAID and one particular just as a spare assuming the a single clicking is about to die as well
