Performs well in onboard raid Windows index rates the raid at 5.9, possibly I need to add an additional to the raid and see if it increases I am just glad they didnt do whatever Western Digital did to their. WD did anything that would not let you do a easy raid configuration for some cause. Thanks Seagate, you guys are very good. |

Expected efficiency, plus a nice surprise: it's not a bulky drive. Its height is shorter than other 3.five" drives I've been employing, which I suppose makes it possible for much better airflow (as the bay isn't absolutely filled by drive). It's also seriously light-weight. Energy consumption isn't something to create household about (though it's not a power hog). This isn't a concern to most persons, so it's an acceptable drive in that regard. But if energy saving is your leading priority, this isn't the one particular for you. This is my very first bought-new Seagate drive, and I'm pleased with the encounter. |

Had it for a little more than a month, and as opposed to some of the other evaluations would recommend, it hasn't crashed. Intelligent values look good, and it's carrying out a good job over my old IDE drive. None. Seems like all the challenging drive makers have sufficient QC troubles to make some bad units, but I've had no problems with mine. |

Smaller, quiet, somewhat rapidly Drive fails with Smart errors just about instantly immediately after use. I contacted Seagate, they are forcing me to RMA this and acquire a refurbished drive, which is USELESS to me as I personal a retail personal computer shop and I cannon sell a refurbished drive. Fundamentally I wasted 45$. I can\'t sell it, nor can I use it in a new technique mainly because I care about my reputation. value was good for a 250 gig to use as a principal OS drive in a couple of systems I keep. Formatted and installed the OS on the first a single with no problems and it's been operating good ever because. Formatted and installed a copy of the key drive in my other system with the intention of replacing the IDE with this SATA. Will update when I am performed undertaking that. Want the warranty was five years alternatively of 3 on these drives. Power provide fried on the second Pc prior to I could install the second of the two drives I bought. Practically nothing to do with the drive, certainly. It just delays me giving a report on the second drives functionality. |

Its a wonderful drive. It is slim, and runs cool. Rapid, and it gets the job done. Propose for Media Center computer's, servers, and so forth The new bubble wrap is less exciting to pop I purchased the 80gb version of this drive to run in a box that regularly was reading/writing. It stays good and cool. I got this drive to replace a old drive that ran too hot for the case I utilized it in. |

Functions. Has a faint whine durring access that would drive me mad if i had to use it all day. Luckily it isn't my pc but a single that someone else in my office has to use.Not a great value. A few dollars a lot more buys you considerably far more capacity and peace and quiet. Purchased as a direct replacement (same model and size) in a Dell Vostro 430 as we clone drivs in our office so like to keep things as significantly the exact same as doable. Regardless of being the similar model as the OEM version that came in the Dell, the Dell OEM one is slient but this one particular has an annoying whine when the drive is in use (not when idle). It is not very loud but I hear it and hate it. Beware! |

Have owned various Seagate really hard drives in the past with no concerns till this develop. New program would not detect the HD in the bios but would detect a HD (not a Seagate) from one more pc just fine. Assumed the drive was bad and RMA'd it. Replacement drive had the same situation. Notice that there is one more post about a problem with Gigabyte MB so maybe an issue with the MB and not the drive. Newegg did give me a complete refund and offered a shipping label to return the second drive for cost-free without having any hassle at all. Purchased another brand of HD locally and program is operating good. |

none NOT Trustworthy -- these drives frequently die. I have owned six ST3250410AS drives which are the preceding "version" of this drive and five out of these six have failed within a month to a year. I utilized to use raid with two of these drives and I would get volume errors eventually.. I also use them as back up drives considering that its a wonderful amount of space for general files and documents. Then again I notice a trend in these drives: as you fill them up (around half) they like to quit functioning. I had about 90gb of files in 1 and it just now stopped operating. Windows 7 doesnt see it and the computer takes forever to boot up due to the fact its trying to detect the drive.As far as I'm concerned, Seagate drives are absolute garbage. If you get this drive, I assure you it will die within the year. |

Installed it in an iMac G5 with a bum difficult drive and PSU, it worked and I made a turn around on the deal. Men and women bash Seagate... I believe they fixed the complications with the .12 update |
The challenging drive worked fine for about six months. The tough drive died within 6 months of acquire. It was no longer detected by the Computer's bios. I moved it to another Computer, and still no detection. I installed an additional challenging drive of an additional brand and the Computer’s bios detected it fine. Seagate will replace their drive because it has a 3 year limited warranty. The catch is, you need to either send the old drive in for a free replacement in kind, or send them ร.00 for a replacement with out returning your old drive. I have individual information on the defective drive, so the ร.00 alternative is finest for me.
