7200 RPM, 16 MB cache, and SATA 6. GB/s. Works great utilized for about two weeks no difficulties. Not 500 gigabytes totally, you get about 437 GB but that's to be expected with all difficult drives. None. Plug and play, nice top quality, arranging on acquiring a different for 1TB RAID configuration.

It's quiet and worked out of the box, got it for the SATA 3 connectors to match my mobo. It's not screaming fast...in particular slow booting up... I just built a SFF computer based off of an AMD E350 cpu/mobo with the Hudson chipset (the Asrock mini-itx), could be ahci driver immaturity...

Cons: Electronics Recycling Fee

Pros: Good for spare
Comment:
Thought the hard drive in the raid1 system failing so bought this to replace. Turn out I could remove the raid, create  new, and rebuild. Didn't turn out as bad as I had imagined. Keep this one for spare.

Pros: Price, quiet
Comment:
I got this drive for two reasons. One, it was cheap, and well one it was quiet. The second reason was that the motherboard I was using only had SATA1 and the chipset was not compatibly with my existing samsung drive which had a different number of compatibility pins. This seagate drive had the standard number of comparability pins and I was able to jumper them and make it all work successfully.

Pros: Reliable and cheap

Overall a great choice for a hard disk if you are looking for cheap storage. I used Seagate SATA drives all the time and never had one fail. I've still using 80Gb drives in some of my older PCs without fail. Great buy!

Does what it says on the tin. It's a decent, cheap drive to throw into a basic workstation. Supports SATA 6GB/s. Most importantly, it's cheap.

Cons: Not as fast as some more expensive competitor's drives.

Pros: Great price for a small 6GB/S drive.
Comment:
I needed a modest size drive at a good price, I believe this is the best choice. The drive is quiet, stays cool and works well. It does not offer a blazing performance, but adequate. In Windows Performance Index it reaches 5.8 from max. of 7.9 score.I hope it will last.

Cons: -Has a bit of vibration compare to my other WD black.

Pros: -Fast and Quiet.-Cheap when on sale.-Runs Cool
Comment:
This is my first Seagate HD. Got bad experience before, so I decided to give it a try. This one I got was made in Thailand. It's fast and quiet. It's great for OS drive because of 7200RPM. The only thing is there a slight vibration compare to my other WD black. Not sure if it's an issue yet, but so far it's been running solid with no error at all. I would buy it again. Recommend.

Cons: Got a defective one at first..... Had to drive back to the store and RMA.

Pros: Fast, quiet
Comment:
2nd time was the charm. First one made some beeping sounds..... My replacement worked like a charm though :). It's quick, and quiet. Everything you want out of a hard drive. I am using it in my HTPC as my main OS and storage drive. I normally go for WD drives, but this one was on special so I decided to give it a try. I dont regret that decision. RMAing the first one was annoying though, so minus 1 star for that.

Cons: None so far!

Pros: Cheap! I got it for $39.00 on sale!
Comment:
This drive is perfect for an inexpensive build or upgrade! It's big enough for loading an operating system and has tones of room for file storage. At $39.00 I don't think I could find a better drive out there, bang for buck! I combined mine with an SSD using smart response, this drive works incredible. I am very pleased with the performance of this drive. I haven't tried it in a raid array, "yet"! I would recommend buying this drive, even at regular price!

This is an amazing hard drive for me. it blows my old one out of the water with speeds MUCH faster than it. I would definately reccommend this if you don't need too much storage. I use it along with a 1.5tb WD caviar green hard drive, so storage isn't an issue

Five hundred GB might be a little low these days, especially considering that 1TB disks can be found at nearly the same price when under a special. For low storage users though, the 500 GB is very cheap thanks to price matching, and this barracuda model is working perfectly fine so far. Shipping was cheap and pretty fast, nicely packed too.
