Cons: Only 5400 rpm

Pros: Very large storage
Comment:
While I wished this hard drive ran at 7200rpm, it is still a fast hard drive. It's a great way to get an incredible amount of internal hard drive space at a great price. This drive also comes with a great warranty.

I got two of these to put into a NAS computer. They have worked well so far and I have experienced no issues. I am using Storage Spaces mirroring and these seem to work just as well as the 4TB Seagate NAS drives in the NAS.

Cons: - Pricing could be lower.

Pros: - Large Capacity.- Reliability- Good read/write speed.
Comment:
This is my 6th Seagate HDD and I couldn't be any happier with these. They have been reliable 4+ years and going strong. I filled about 3 TB of data on the drive on my first week and no problems at all. Strongly recommended!

Cons: -Still 2 year warranty, it seems like some of the 4TB drives should probably have a 3 year at their price point etc.-5900rpm as opposed to 7200rpm

Pros: -Pricematch for cheaper-Lowest price per GB on the market atm-5900rpm as opposed to 5400rpm?
Comment:
Wrote 2.5 TB steady the first day I had it. No probs thus far and it obviously has healthy reports in crystaldisk.satisfied This review was modfied by poster @ 05-08-14 03:34 PM

Cons: Takes about 5-6 hours to do a full format!!!

Pros: Largest size on the market for non-demanding storage applications. Good price. Trusted brand.
Comment:
GUID Partition Table, GPT; Windows 7 Pro 64-bit; 2ndary hard drive on a HP Z420 workstation with a 1-TB primary drive, both drives are on 6-Gbps SATA III connectors. PC has 8 GB memory, a 3.6 GHz 4-core Xeon CPU with HT. Perhaps the extremely slow format is due to Microsoft's operating system, and not due to Seagate's hard drive???

Cons: 5900rpm is no good if you want rapid storage. this is merely for media in my case

Pros: -lots of storage for the price-not too loud and not too hot
Comment:
Great drive overall. would have liked more cache and a 7200rpm spindle speed but its fine

Cons: Not the quickest 4TB drive.

Pros: Large, quiet, and cool.
Comment:
The drive works as expected, and is fairly quiet and quite cool. In addition, it does not have the aggressive head parking behaviour that it's direct competitor the WD 4TB Green has.The only drawback is this is a 5900 rpm so it is slower than the older 7200.x lines that Seagate seems to be using this to replace.

Cons: Sur 3 j'en ai un qu'il me faut retourner.Ça fais 2 fois qu'il me faut retrouner un HD seagate. ;(

Pros: Très silencieux dans le NAS Shuttle Omninas KD20 2 Bay.
Comment:

Cons: slow response, when has multiple access

Pros: good value or 4tb, when on sale,
Comment:
using 2 of them for soft raid0, so far is stable, for big files, it seems good, but for small ones, it responds slowly, anyway, so far, seems worth the value, worried, if they can work for 24hx7, last 2 years

Cons: Longer format time

Pros: Large capacityLowest per GB costRelatively quietRunning relatively cool
Comment:
For some reasons, the drive took a little longer to format even when taking its larger capacity into consideration. After that, it performed very well.I connected it to a USB 3.0 port in a dual Vantec hard drive dock. The transfer speed varied from 50MB/s to 95MB/s, with an average about 75MB/s to 85MB/s. It was relatively quiet and cool, definitely ran cooler than the WD Green 3TB drive. Its large 4TB capacity coupled with the lowest per GB cost makes it a very attractive drive for data storage.

Cons: Seagate has a slightly more expensive version for NAS and other 24x7 use. There's probably a reason for that....

Pros: In last week's sale I paid $160 which is the same price per terabyte as Toshiba 3T also on sale. The drive runs very cool, and so can be used with a hard drive docking station for smaller incremental backups. (35C in dock for extended test, 30C in HAFX (fan cooled) for 4T backup. Two drives passed conveyance, short and long tests (surface) with no errors. One drive is now 94% full with backups and checksum data. The second is filling. It took 17 hours to fill the first drive, but what was copied is shown by checksums to be equivalent to source. The large size is useful for taking and keeping backups off-site.In my warranty checks on actual drives, I seem to have 3 years.
Comment:
I figured that it was time to explore 4T drives as the price was good. As my data increases, I still have to fit backup drives into my safety deposit box. Later i will use these drives as part of my storage system at home. I use Snapraid for redundancy. Flexraid and Unraid are other parity redundancy solutions. I'll try to find time to explain under questions, below. My disks lead an easy life (these will just have to sit..). I would be worried using these cheapest 4T disks in a striped raid array in constant use. the disks not the data are warrantied..I am impressed so far, but who knows for the future?

Cons: Speed normalized with multiple file transfers

Pros: -Fast transfer rate for its speed-Runs cooler than expected-Quiet
Comment:
My average transfer rate is about 100MB/s. Multiple file transfers it drops down to 30MB/s. I have no complaints so far. So far it is consistently running about 4 days straight a week before a shutdown over night. I am running it on my home server.

Cons: - None

Pros: - Huge capacity- Great speeds for an HDD- Decent price on sale/pricematch- Decent power consumption
Comment:
An excellent drive for the price - 4Tb will last me a good while for storage, and the speeds are definitely better than my 1Tb drives (~145MB/s max read and write speeds).Definitely worth the money if you can get it on sale. This review was modfied by poster @ 07-19-13 07:52 AM

Cons: 5900rpm

Pros: capacity, power saving
Comment:
One of my older hitachi 2tb drives was failing so I picked up one of these. I want to say the price was a "con" but it seems like the market right now is $170 - 4tb (some higher end 3tb's too), $130 -3tb, $90 for fast 1tb's and $60 for the cheapest on sale- so it seems the price roughly $40 per 1tb platter after the first. Anyway, I easily combined two 2tb's and had some space and was able to organize a bit. I guess there is a power savings with more capacity if eliminating/downsizing. Seems fairly fast. No complaints.

Cons: too bad NCIX wont honor there posted prices.

Pros: Great sales price
Comment:
I ordered this while on a "surprise special" for 169. I was going to buy two (at which time the sales price came up) but I changed my mind and changed my order to one. Now the price reverted back to the non sale price of 190. I checked the page again and the sales price was still there for another 24hrs. I thought maybe they were out of stock so I checked that, nope lots in stock. I rechecked the page and still the sale price. I loaded up my order and before I processed it I called in to the sales dept. I was told by the sales rep to just go ahead and order it (he check also and it was the sales price and there was lots in stock) but to take screen shots to prove the problem and what the price should have been. He said to call the next day the store was open and they would honor that price. I call today and the customer service rep who 1. continued to interrupt and talk over me had the audacity to suggest I didnt refresh my browser and that was the real problem. I have spent $1000's at NCIX and promoted the store to anyone I met that bought computers (almost everyone). In the past the customer service has been great and I love the open box videos that Linus(i think thats his name) makes. Now I will take my business elsewhere due to the rudness of the customer service rep as well as either there sales dept. being uneducated on what they can tell a customer to do or NCIX refusing to honor there posted prices. The hard drives prob. fine but NCIX can keep the $20 difference in price, they already got my money and I will all my business and free advertising elsewhere.

Cons: The only complaint I have is: there seems to be some confusion ( on many sites, not just here ) as to what the actual rotational speed of this drive is. Description header shows 5900, but specs show 7200? Seagate's website doesn't seem to list this info, so I can't say for sure what it is, really?

Pros: Massive storage for low dollars. Approx.130 MBsps internal sata 2 transfer rate ( write ). Quiet operation. Great response times & well suited for media storage/everyday read/write data operations.
Comment:
Ordered 3 from NCIX & all 3 were perfect from the getgo. I now own 4 X Seagate 3TB ST3000DM001, bought over the last 6-8 mths., & 3 of these. All were good & no problems up to now, installed in a windows 7 desktop. Very happy with both models of these Seagate drives, & pricing/shipping/packing from NCIX. Will Buy more when budget allows. There is an error under the "Specifications" info, under "Miscellaneous > Package Contents", however. Shows; installation screws, interface cable, power adapter,CD software & manual, install guide. These are OEM drives & are shipped in an anti-static bag, not a retail box, so don't expect anything else, other than the bare drive. Lastly, don't forget, as with any drives larger than 2TB: Win 7 & up, under Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Disk Management, choose GPT (GUID Partition Table) when installing/formating these drives ( you need nothing but Windows to install ) & make sure your operating system/mobo is recent enough to support these size drives & avoid problems.
