This drive replaced the 5400rpm stock drive in a Dell E6410 notebook which was quite sluggish on XP SP3. The speed improve is as advertised - runs 2.4 occasions quicker than the 5400 rpm stock drive Ƒ.eight times faster than a 7200 rpm). Price is modest for the improvement over a non-hybrid. 5 year warranty - have only had to use once in 17 years with Seagate drives. Information is a small sketchy as to utilities NOT to use simply because of the flash component - ( to defrag or not to defrag, for example). Utilized cloning software to image from the stock disk with the hybrid in an external enclosure - worked flawlessly.

Hybrid drive. Indicates both SSD and SATA... With each other four gigs of SSD memory and the rest meaning 7200 Speed Old style S.A.T.A. disk. It will boot actual quick and run your daily applications lot's more quickly. File transfer and other folks will be as a typical 7200 RPM 14.2 seek time, Drive. Lots gong on to clarify the extra cost. I have noticed the greatest performance from these "Hybrid" drives. Employed to be that memory meant the ideal minor performace upgrade. Now "these" will end up, the subsequent big thing. Specifically in network attached storage, and laptops. Will order on on Monday. We are Just tired of other individuals who are not even varified Purchasers. Fail-ing them out. Out of Jealousy It is not a "Full" SSD drive but at significantly less then half the price tag they function Excellent. It is not the greatest most high-priced hardware you can put in it to upgrade but it "is" The easiest quickly replacement to make you laptop run more quickly. With that said. Jump in and get a couple of them, Raid0 them in your Desktop with the brackets Either way you come out ahead. I have 2 operating in my desktop now. Raid and excellent temps + eight gigs of SSD difficult-drive man your not gonna get substantially faster Without having re-gutting your "Whole" lappy.Hope this assists. I will rewrite this when the HDD/SSD unit comes in this weeek

Don't bother with overnight shipping result in it'll be there in two to three days anyways. Newegg rocks, who wants best get?

Created the decsion to install the drive in my laptop(which is insanly rapidly as it is) it additional boosted general system functionality, just about every program that I use opens in an immediate, I cannot wait to run Fallout NV on this drive. Technique heat generation is now fairly substantially non-existent, compared to the straight mechanical drive which was the source of the heat which I could really feel blowing out of the exaust. I haven't ran my laptop on battery energy since installing the drive, but I am confident it will drastically enhance battery life. Considering that I applied a drive cloning kit, and the drive is truly smaller sized than the stock drive, and most most likely messing up the partion settings in the computer software, the drive only shows around 90 GBs of total memory. This is not an situation since I blew out the recover partion, and if require be I can just slap the other drive into a enclosure and be pleased with my stoarge needs. Don't let the negitave testimonials right here detere you, I am confident most if not all who leave them most likely have no clue on how a difficult disk fuctions, and that they can die effectively prior to the estimated date of three to five years. That is anything people appear to overlook, as a really hard disk is a higher precison and very deloctate instrument and is incredibly prone to failure.

it applied to be a tough drive? enormous heart attack failure two months into its' life. are you kidding me?!?!?!!!! the efficiency wasn't a lot far better than a 7200 rpm drive with no the cache. installed in a Dell Latitude D630 this was the second noisiest drive I've ever owned. (the noisiest was a different Seagate drive that clicked incesantly until I discovered how to turn up the volume on my Zune) proof that a hardware business attempting to sell itself to the highest bidder doesn't care jack about the quality of their merchandise.two months and a total failure. i'll by no means obtain another seagate drive for any explanation. how in the world can you pass this b.s. off as cutting edge technologies only to have it fail TWO MONTHS following acquire?yes, i have backup, but get genuine. the retailer that sold me the replacement WD drive confirmed the hybrid drives have High failure rate. devote your Newegg bucks on drives manufactured by a organization that really cares about quality control. what's subsequent seagate? boxing bricks?

This point was wonderful for about a week, my coumputer (after a couple of boot cycles) booted up into windows more quickly and file transfers in between my laptop and desktop were also faster, my battery lasted a touch longer it seemed, and programs started up quicker and ran a bit snappier. About 2 and 1ǘ weeks into it I began acquiring boot disk failures in the laptop I had this drive installed in... I feel was some thing to do with: In order to load windows the computer need to go "Through" the SS memory prior to acquiring to the actual storage disk... whatever the issue, my laptop would boot into windows after a couple of restarts... Far more annoying than problematic... Bought a USB 3. enclosure and turned the point into an external drive... IT ROCKS!!! Super rapid compared to my friends 7200rpm WD external... Not exactly positive if its worth it for the price tag although... I was past the return policy ྿st day, Gurrrr!) so I didnt have much of a selection

7,200 RPM drive motor, 32MB buffer (one purpose drive is expensive), 4GB of Solid State memory(second cause for high cost), runs cooler than stock Hitachi stock 7,200 RPM HDD in laptop. Paid 94 bucks as an alternative of the 114, as my uncle would say smokin' deal. Little quantity of Flash Memory, but to be expected mainly because flash isn't inexpensive and if presented additional on same variety of drive it would be nicely over 200 bucks. I purchased this drive to replace the stock drive in my HP laptop, the boot loader sees it, the Sensible diagnostics in the boot loader sees it. The only difficulty is that you cant run produced recovery discs on this or any drive, ought to have non-certain OEM manfactuer OS. This drive is going to be utilised as a boot disk in my very first method construct, my computer system information is beyond advanced enough to bulid my 1st technique so why not use this drive as the boot disk?My laptop is insanly rapidly is at is, so I've come to conlusion that adding this drive would be over kill as the factor has 4GBs of RAM at 1333Mhz, 2.8Ghz AMD Dual Core CPU 64bit Windows 7 HP, not mention using a flash drive as a prepared boost disk.

I haven't done any benchmarks but it appears to be a lot more quickly than the 5400rpm drive I had in my laptop just before this. I use the laptop for internet browsing, server admin, watching videos, email, and so on.. With 4GB or ram, this drive and Windows 7 Ultimate every single app I run fairly significantly loads immediately. I don't pay significantly interest to the boot time. If your computer system takes a long time to boot then why turn it off? I only boot when it's required by the OS. Otherwise this laptop or computer is on 24ǝ. None.

Quickly, quiet drive. Employed it in a desktop build. Loads Windows 7 Residence 64 in just under 30 seconds (from power button to Welcome screen). And this is with a four year old Athlon 3700+ (single core) and 3Gb of some ancient DDR memory. . In the present market, a pure 320Gb SSD would expense in a range of 迀-逤. So when it comes to capacity and speed, this is an superb spending budget drive.

Shipped in 21 hours... don't consider I've ever got a thing so quickly. The firmware update realized my 2TB was Hitachi and didn't fry it :) Size is a little modest but sufficient for programs. Only four GB of SSD. Runs at 47 C with no cooling. Had to get a cheap bracket, sort of a hassle for a desktop. I just like the concept of the issue...

This drive is compact, light weight, and rather. It does what Seagate has claimed it will do, and thats to improve the speed perforamce of the HDD. This HDD has a limited amount of built in SSD memory. The HDD uses adaptive programing to pick specific files or programs you use the most and stores them in the faster SSD memory. This way, programs and files load substantially more quickly. Boot up instances have dropped dramticaly.Boot Times:Stock = + 6' 00ŕst boot = 2' 21Ŗnd boot = 1' 54ŗrd boot = 1' 51Řth boot = 1' 48" (lowest time so far) The only con that I would say is the restricted amount of SSD memory. 4GB of on-board SSD memory does assist enhance speed, but storage hogging applications can effortlessly fill that quantity of space. 16GB or 32GB would have been much better suited (if Seagate does reconsider) This is a laptop HDD. So a 3.5" to two.5" bracket is required for desktop use. Unless your case currently has provisions for a two.5" drive.

Runs cool. Runs rapid. I have come across a lot of Hdd but absolutely nothing like this. It is a good buy. Do not hesitate. Maximum availability is 500 Gb. That's a bummer. Wish it came in 1TB capacities. I am writing this review below 320 Gb. I know. Just clicked and began writing. But, if you are hunting for larger capacity HDD, this may possibly not be the a single. But for a laptop, this is fantastic. The cool operating aids me use it on my lap with out getting to endure the heat. A good product.

Took three or four boots to see to full impact. soon after there was a different five% improvement over a month and defragging of the tough drive. Not a problem, a small on the high side for vibration transmitted to the entire laptop. Need to be searching for the vibration to understand it. This is a extremely very good bang for the buck buy.

Installed pretty effortlessly into my Dell Studio XPS M1340. Boot following three days of 'learning' is about 30s. Most frequently applied apps do startup promptly. Certainly peppier than the 7200RPM drive I replaced and operating far better than just utilizing ReadyBoost. None Right after reimaging the drive from a backup, Win7 would blue screen 50% of the time through bootup. This was fixed by working with the Win7 install media and 'repairing' the instance. The repair ran in beneath a minute and the concern went away. Also, Win7 will detect the drive and install new drivers after the reimage.

7200 rpm32MB RAM cache4GB of SLC Flash Memory Read-cacheCut my boot time in half ࿊ secs down to 21 secs) 8GB of Flash memory would probably improve efficiency further. (but I guess that would also jack up the value a lot more given that SLC Flash is costly.) I purchased a Thinkpad Edge 13 lately. It's a notebook that's drastically more rapidly than a Netbook, but not practically as quick as, say, a Thinkpad T-series. My notebook came with a 250GB 5400 rpm drive which was reasonably peppy, but felt sluggish in particular locations. I had considered obtaining an SSD, but realized that its modest efficiency skills (CPU/GPU-wise) as a notebook would sort of be wasted on an expensive SSD.This hybrid SSD/HDD is excellent for this machine. It's so significantly snappier now each booting and loading apps that it feels much like the Intel X-25M that I have in my desktop machine. Positive, 4GB of read caching will only take you so far, but it undoubtedly aids. For this reason, I gave it four out of 5 Eggs, because the efficiency won't "blow you away" like obtaining an SSD will, but it gives solid performance for the value. Bottom-line: If you don't really feel like shelling out the big bucks for an SSD, but want SSD-like performance out of your laptop, get this drive. It's worth

Fast boot time. My MacBook Pro goes from the the beep to log on screen in about 35 seconds. Soon after additional testing extensively and installing the SD24 firmware upgrade that is supposed to repair the problems, this HD is a bust. For the initial time final week, I brought my laptop to function with me and I had a slow night so I was in a position to watch a film. The film stuttered many occasions for a minute or two at a time. Also, stuttering happens when listening to music. In truth it just stuttered a couple of occasions while typing this evaluation. The spinning beachball also comes out though surfing the internet. Utilizing my MBP is now a extremely frustrating expertise. I have a late 2009 MBP with 8gb of RAM and I never had these issues with the original 320gb HD. I upgraded to this HD to make space for a lot more photos. What a mistake. I strongly advise persons not to listen to the positive reviews here as I suspect that these are from folks who have not extensively tested their machines or maybe the difficulties are only with the MBP. I'm at the moment searching for credit from NewEgg. I wouldn't even threat utilizing this HD in my PS3.

None, what so ever. Efficiency is the similar as any other 7200 rpm drive. Reliable? Not on your life. Mine failed less than two months after purchase. Been in this organization 20 years, this is the third worst disaster I've noticed.Out of the plastic, the drive made strange noises and i known as tech assistance ("It's standard, trust us!") The drive clicked incessantly and i called tech support ("Just the heads parking")The drive failed much less than four months immediately after manufacture. I referred to as tech support ("for 轜-񘠄 we'll try to recover your information")!!!!!!Good racket if I had the 񘠄 to toss away. Don't waste your time, information, or dollars. Other drives execute as nicely with out paying for the hybrid "performance". You all owe me an egg. The 1 I HAD to give for this rating. It sure doesn't deserve any for the cost/reliability.

It performed fine out of the box and did so proper up until it died. Read/write efficiency was pretty excellent, as would be expected from any 7200 drive. It died about three months in. I'm not positive what particularly died in the drive (that is, the SSD part or the HD portion). It's recognized as a device but that's it; it occasions out when you attempt to format it. Soon after reading evaluations of this drive and other SSDs, SSD failure is not an if, it's a when. The concept of caching all your reads and writes by way of 4GB of SSD is definitely going to lead to failure sooner or later due to the fact SSD memory has a limited w/r life. Thinking of that is doesn't actually increase speed that substantially you're much better off to either get a proven 7200 drive at a great cost or, if cost is not a dilemma just get an SSD. The hybrid's marginal efficiency enhance doesn't justify the extra price.

Nicely, this appears to be a really nice drive with leading edge hybrid technologies. I have not bought this drive, I am just hoping to get some feedback for the newegg community. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence, here on the egg and also across the net that the momentus XT 500GB drives have high failure rates. Please investigation this oneself and you will see they have issues with clicking, stuttering, vibration and early failure rates. One has to wonder about these new, lower capacity XT drives as properly. I encourage every person who buys one of these to review it here so the community will know if these drives are worth a likelihood. It appears the difficulty is with the mechanical aspect of the drives, as people are saying prior to failure they are very speedy and the program recognition following the very first couple of boots works incredibly well also.I wish there was additional evidence available for the reliability of these hybrid drives due to the fact they would be perfect for my notebook, and even some desktop applications.Seagate has released firmware recently which is supposed to address some of these concerns.
