Like i said, i bought it for my ps3 and worked fine for 5 months now. Didn't see any change in behavior at all, no lag, no jitter during video playback or playing games.Go for it! |

I purchased this drive as a replacement drive for my Macbook. The drive works great, but has a slight vibration so my Macbook hums when its set on a table while the drive is still spinning. It also runs hotter than the 5400's so the fan comes on much more frequently. This combined with the extra power required for the drive means the battery gets chewed up significantly faster. The drive is a bit quicker though so it is a tradeoff. I was hoping for near equivalent power consumption and noise, with increased speed.I would recommend for laptops and netbooks to use 5400's as replacement drives if that is what the original specification was. Again, nothing wrong with the drive, its working just fine. |

This is a nice quiet drive. I installed it in my wife's HP tablet to replace the 160GB drive it came with. More space was the order of the day. It is faster than the old drive but I expected more. Oh, wait, this is a 5400 RPM drive. Of course.It is much quieter than the 7200.4 Gforce 320GB which I put in my Aspire One a couple years ago. Given the space requirements in a laptop, where you can usually have only one hard drive you may as well spend a few dollars more and get a big one! |

I've used this in my toshiba satellite A300 for over 8 months now. Its fast, Reliable, and 500GB. it makes alot more noise than i'd expect (humming and vibrations) which is why I took a star off. At the time I bought it was relative cheap and good. Now though, 500gb 2.5" harddrives are abundant so you have a lot of options. Not sure exactly what the difference between Gforce and regular Momentus is...Would buy again if it was cheaper :P |

Excellent price for an excellent drive, definitely worth it to get more space than the drive that came with my laptop. Might even get another one to do backup images on in case of catastrophic failure backup, which is what happened with my old one. I would recommend this to anyone in the market. |

This is a great budget hard drive to place in a laptop. It's just as quiet as most 5400 RPM drives, and a nice boost in boot up times. I wouldn't upgrade from a 500GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive to this for the performance boost because it may not be worth it, but if you have a smaller drive and require more space then this is a good choice. |

This is the second Seagate Momentus 500GB 7200rpm hard disk I get. But the first did not have the Gforce technology in it.Performance and speed of this hard disk is excellent and the price is not high at this point ($100+ when they got released).The Gforce technology will help if you tend to drop stuff a lot or if you work in an environment with a higher risk of drop ping things. What it basically does is remove the needle off of the disk so it doesn't break when drop ped, thus saving your data. |

I bought this to replace the 5400rpm Fujitsu in a 2.5-year-old MacBook Pro. The Seagate is surprisingly quiet when idle and makes a faint but pleasant clicking sound when seeking. Only slightly noisier than the Fujitsu. It is also significantly faster, of course.However I have noticed about a 20% loss in battery life since installing this drive. If this is a concern for you I would recommend opting for a 5400rpm disk. Additionally, the palmrest is quite a bit warmer during normal use than it used to be, and the whole unit vibrates noticeably.Overall I am satisfied with this drive. |

I put this drive in my wife's EeePC 1000HE to replace the stock 160GB 5400 RPM drive after my wife dropped the laptop many times and created a bunch of bad sectors on the drive. The plan is that the Gforce technology will prevent this from happening again. Or at least that is the hope anyway, I'll update this review again in a couple of months and verify that it really worked as advertised.So far so good.The only real negative so far is that this drive is a bit more expensive than an equivalent drive without the Gforce feature. |

Got this hard drive for my brother for a gift and it turned out it is a dead drive. I knew not to trust this product because of other problems i had with them before but i gave this drive a shot and now my gift has to wait and that's rather disappointing. All i can say is worst drive i ever got very disappointed with them once again so i am totally returning this one. |

This hard drive is incredibly fast. The load time performance on my laptop seems to have increased 10 x. Let me just say that is was fast before. But now it smokes. Has to be one of the fastest laptop hard drives out there. Read and write times are incredibly fast. Great customer service from CompUSA. Super fast shipping. |

Prior to relocating to Cairo, Egypt, I purchased two of these drives in order to upgrade both of my laptops - a Sager and an Acer. The first upgrade went OK and the laptop ran fine for a couple of days before failing to boot at all. Put the original drive back in and had o problems. When I attempted to reformat the drive it would not even complete the format operation. The second drive was even worse and would never complete a format. Tried downloading SeaTools from the Seagate web site, but it proved to be useless since most of the tests would not run with these drives. I've used Seagate drives for many years, but I think it's time for me to switch to WD for some reliability. Since I am now in Egypt I gave up on getting replacement drives, since the duty would effectively double the price of the drives for me. Besides, with a two-out-of-two failure rate, why would I want to keep wasting my time? |
i bought the hard drive and when i got it it caused my laptop to bsod of death. so a told ncix and they promptly guive me rma # than replaced the hard drive. so i would like to thank them for good service and the new hard drive is working great
