4 additional bays for internal HD, has a fan Fan is low speed which keeps it quiet on the other hand doesnt maintain the drives as cool as it could. This is not a cage that would work effectively if you want access to the drives, the whole cage have to be removed to romave any drive. if it had a variable speed fan on it, woulda been 5 eggs... watching the heat about the drives in this which are element of a raid 5 array to see if i want to change out the fanSo far my impression of it is that it is a excellent cheap resolution if you will need additional internal 3.five" and dont require hot swap or effortless access

Great solution for receiving an further 3.five" drive in your case. Created well. I know other individuals complained about the blue LED fan, but I simply popped the rivets and place in a non-LED fan, then resecured the front plate with wire ties. No problem. If folks study the description and saw it came with a blue LED fan and bought it anyway, however in a review list the blue LED as a con and take a star from it, they are just plain stupid, ignorant, dumb, etc. None, though I do have a complaint - idiotic reviewers on newegg.

- Adds 4 HDD slots- Inexpensive- Low cost- Low-cost none however ... if you don't like the blue light, change it For this cost, how can this factor get bad reviews? It's a CAGE for 4 Tough Drives, not a Sata/Raid/Hotswap module.

Holds 4 really hard drives in Ɠ) 5.25" bays. Has a fan to enable keep drives cool. Lights up blue in front. The rubber gromets thermally isolate this from the case. Not a massive deal due to the fact of the fan, but if the fan fails it could let a lot of heat to build up. I would like a similar version that holds five drives on their side. The only way I've found to mount five difficult drives in the exact same space is in a 5x3 backplane... but $$$.

Installed in a black Cooler Master case with blue aluminum trims, looks appropriate at home. Located the construct good quality to be outstanding. All mounting holes drilled in proper places, all threaded. All hardware is incorporated for mounting four drives into enclosure, and enclosure into tower. I have four 1TB drives installed operating RAID . Incorporated rubber insulators make the drive noise and vibration non existent. I was looking for an external 4bay enclosure with eSATA until i came across this. I I just happened to have 3 open five.25" drive bays. This was a Much less costly option and enables for greater HDD performance. I did notice a rattle in the unit prior to installation. It was located coming from a single of the metal rivets used to fasten the metal frame together. I dont know if it would have rattled when installed, but I cant stand rattles, so I placed a drop of superglue on every rivet which cured the noise. Other than this 1 minor situation, all round the unit has great create good quality, is fully silent and appears excellent! I removed the incorporated fan due to the reality that is has four very obnoxious blue LEDs. Removing the fan was straightforward. Just unscrew the black plastic front trim panel from the metal housing, then pop out the 4 expanding rivets. Reused the plastic rivets to set up a silent Scythe fan that has no LEDs and turns a couple much more RPM. The front vent also has a perforated metal screen that acts as a filter, and a fine foam mesh behind that. I removed the foam mesh in the course of fan replacement as it looked a bit restrictive and unnecessary.

Simple install, amazing style. Cool blue fan. Fan is a little weak, but it is quiet. You want to have 3 open five.25 bays with no tabs (i.e. wide open hole) to make this as straightforward as achievable.

Vibration reduction mountssilent 120mm fan Can expand any case The plates with the vibration lowering mounts are a bit clumsy to operate with. This is minor challenge, but can add a tiny amount of aggravation. The fan is not attached with screws like the one on the stock cage of my case. It's held on by plastic rivets, so I'd take into account this a bit of a disadvantage when the fan lastly goes. Once the rivets are out of the way, getting the fan screws in the holes proves to be a real challenge simply because they are positioned very close to the sides, I did not have a long screwdriver, so had to attach the screws at an angle, stripping one in the method. If you're hunting to customize the fan, it's a very good notion to keep this in thoughts. For my new method construct, I genuinely wanted green lighting in the front, but also wanted to push plenty of air from the front to hold the tower cool, so buying this in addition to the stock cage in the Centurion 590 case seemed like a logical decision. I figured I could simply replace the fan. Not so with this one particular since of the problem noted above. It's one thing to be aware of when contemplating adding a fan/cage to the front of the case. In the finish, I managed to get the fan on, but it took some time, and a fair quantity of fumbling with screws in tight locations. Some might not like the bezel, but it is easily removed. Just unscrew the 4 screws on the front and off it comes.

-holds 4 drives-Front mount fan-rubber vibration dampener -functions out to about ŭ per drive -to clean the filter you should eliminate the drive cage from the case and get rid of several screws -blue led can be annoying, -fan failed after 6 months and had to be replaced (could be a faulty fan) a great option that sells for บ is the scythe really hard disk stabilizer, but you will need to have a case with a front mount fan as it does not have 1. If you get rid of the front cover/filter, you can mount it in the coolmaster 590 and use the fount mount case filter as an alternative, tends to make cleaning it significantly less difficult, ought to also perform with any case that a equivalent setup.

It holds my HDD's like it states. Quite cheaply produced, it can very easily bend if your not cautious. Would of gotten four-5 eggs if it was like the 1 that comes with the CM 590 I would only obtain this if you really want it.

Really effectively created, sturdy with anti vibration silicon inserts, quiet low RPM cooling fan. Holds my 4x640GB Green WD for RAID5, I just really like it and it appears very good too. Comes with all the screws you want. None i located. Not a con but the aluminum is light so go easy on it. Make certain you case does not have the CD-Drives assistance flanges or it might not match in. I had to reduce & bent/break them off in my full tower case. The best four drive cage I have ever owned. Tends to make the 4 green drives definitely silent and does not genuinely will need the fan. At least not throughout winter... ;)I'm purchasing two much more for my workstations upstairs to hold the drives in to do away with the pesky vibrations spreading from the HDs.

This HDD cage is 1 of the greatest ones I've noticed, a thing that's not pointed out on the description is that the cage has two side panels that sit on rubber feet on the cage enabling for vibrations to be noiseless. The fan Performs wonderful keeping the HDD's good and cool at about 38C, lights up blue and ultra light. I'm making use of this with 4Tb's and its keeping them cool with moderate usage. Could have applied a bit additional ventilation on the sides, and come in decision of fan light, my rig is purple. This cage aluminum body helps dissipate heat and fits in the unused 5.five" bays enabling for much more HDD space and cable management. This would be wonderful if they had a 2.five" side-by-side cage of the same design. its wonderful for a mini NAS server or home server like mine. I'm almost certainly going to get a couple far more unless they come out with a 2.5" cage.

Does what it's supposed to, it's inexpensive and constructed nicely. It looks decent from the outdoors, albeit certainly plastic and has rubber/silicone isolators. Annoying blue fan that's a pain to replace considering that it's attached with challenging-plastic rivets. I just ended up removing it considering that there's enough unfavorable pressure in the case to cool the drives in the bay. I would have preferred they created it with a a lot more simply replaceable fan and left the front of it as plain as attainable. The 'aluminum' strip in front with cooler master logo only blocks further air from moving across the two middle drives. All in all, it gets the job carried out and is constructed nicely for a price hard to beat.

Fits perfectly in my Antec 300 case which adds even additional challenging drive area for this great case. Looks nice, silent fan, and very reasonably priced. I have practically nothing undesirable to say about this item. Most instances has way to numerous five.25" bays and this is a amazing way of producing use of this typically unused space. If you are operating out of space for all of your difficult drives, this is a must have.

This factor has enhanced case air flow by a ton. Dropped CPU temps by about 4-6C, graphics by about eight-10C (hard drives had been previously blocking the 120mm front case fan now it's all going on graphics), brought ambient temps down by about 3-4C, and dropped the difficult drive temps by about 3C each. The rubber washers also brought my case noise level down by a ton! Vibration noise from my 1TB 7200RPM drive is 100% gone! Was a bit of a tight match in my Thermaltake WingRS case but it fits so snug that I'm positive it assists with the above noise levels. Absolutely will be coming to the subsequent case I get. None genuinely. The blue LED is vibrant but so is the blue LED light from my power button. It's not a enormous problem, just know that it's there and will be bright.

Cons: The fan could be a problem. While the fan in my fitted cage is fine with Toshiba 3T's and WD 2T greens, it probably won't do well with faster drives, especially with RAID where all the drives are spun up most of the time. I'd doing a huge backup and drives are holding at 30'C - whereas same drives in a simple eSata dock were up to 36'C in light use. So the weak fan does work - for me.

Pros: Great cheap solution for adding drives.Well madeDrives fitted well with included screws. The inside has rails so that each drive is easily matched with screw holes.Side plates have rubber grommets for vibration control - and the fitted side places mean that this slides into place with no need to alter  side rails of 5 1/4 bays. The blue LED fan contrasts with the red on my HAF932 box - but it's fine.Compared to other cheap methods of adding drives or adding cooling to drives, this is a great solution at a great price.
Comment:
Overall I'm pleased with the two I just bought. The low power fan sucks in air through a grill and so won't need cleaning for years. If a person wants to replace the fan, then first any drives in the cage must be removed. Getting at the 4 screws holding the front plastic facing and grill - is fine with a bent screwdriver, but regular large handled screwdrivers won't have enough clearance. My Leatherman worked fine. The fan is held on with plastic split pins, so more fiddly work to remove those without damage. Clearance is very limited to the fan mounting holes on the other side of sheet metal to fan - sheet metal screws screwed from fan into sheet metal might work, but a nut and bolt solution would probably be best. I'm not sure if plastic split pins are readily available - which would solve everything.I'll fit a replacement fan in my second cage before adding drives! Overall, though, I still feel that I got a super deal for the price.
