Have only had this drive a short time so I cannot say how reliable it is in the long run, but this seems like a great drive, especially considering that it is cheaper than the internal variants.It is very fast and I can sustain 160MB+/sec transfer rates. If you have issues with the speed of this drive then it's your pc or you are using USB2.0I would have rated the drive 5 stars, but there is no power switch (very minor issue), but it also uses a proprietary USB cable...so if you lose the included cable, good luck finding another. I really expect more from Seagate than that.Also you do NOT need a different cable for USB 2.0 as reported above.Otherwise I love the drive and highly recommend it. |

Snagged it on sale for less than $100, which is a great deal for a 3TB drive. Plug and play with no other effort necessary was nice. Case feels solid, but I would've liked a power switch, and some non-slip pads so that I could place is on its side or neatly stack with other peripherals. Knocking it over could destroy the drive, which is easy if you have a few of them on your desk (domino effect). |

Good fast harddrive. Can sustain 160MB sequential write speeds. The included universal USB3.0 dock is a plus, but I am unsure about the reliability of these drives, they do get hot as the enclosure is made of plastic and not much ventilation. |

I would have liked it to have a power switch, however I can't complain for the price. Once thing I am not certain of is if it is just stuck in USB2.0 speeds (despite being plugged in to a USB3.0 port with the provided blue USB cable), or if there is something I need to do to adjust the speed of it as my other external hard drive (2.0) is faster than this drive. If you are looking for a 3TB hard drive, this one works well so far. |

Box states 5' cable but it's 4'. USB 2.0 gives 24-30 MB/s. Unit has no real stand so I straped it standing upwards to a 3/4" x 6" x 8" piece of plywood. Skip the software.2.72TB for $99.99 good enough. |
