I picked this up for temporary storage as my laptop was getting full. I dumped a bunch of files on it until i got back home to my desktop. There was a problem with the drive and my backup files could not be found. Fortunately vista was able to repair the drive and i got most of the files back. I have been using it since without problem but i am still weary of putting anything critical on this drive. Maxtor includes some backup software on the drive that i haven't had the opportunity to try yet but it is appreciated.

I got this while on-sales (less than CAD60) and it's over my expectations. Works well for me with 1 port though i saw some reviews elsewhere said it may need 2.Very fast, quiet and not hot at all after hours backup and SafetyDrill image copying.... and it's real backup (not "Copy" again from zero every time...)very happy to have it, so far.

As my first ext hard drive, I must say I like what I've seen so far. I did very little research prior to buying due to urgency, and the price is a little more than I think a 320 gb ext hdd is worth. I do love many things about this drive however, the size is pocket perfect, although I don't recommend putting it in your pants pocket for transportation. It keeps very cool too! I could have it rest on my bed and it would never start heating up to insane temps. It has a nice silicone type bottom so it rests on your desk and doesn't get accidentally moved around by sudden jerking of cables and such.I partitioned it successfully without any issues. There's a backup program that comes with it so you can set a backup schedule. It's alright, but I've seen better. It's good that you can do it all right out of the box though.If only it didn't use 2 of my 3 available USB ports! That's the main downside to this product so far. I would have preferred something that came with an external psu simply because I'm limited to the amount of USB things I can use already. All in all, if you're looking for a not so cheap, quiet, cool hard drive, then this would work perfect for you. I may buy another myself, once the price drops. :)
