was quick when it worked. died two weeks in.... it had a rebate when i bought it so i couldn't return it to newegg simply because i had already sent the upc code out. nevertheless, this allowed me to get a replacement straight by way of kingston and that was A lot more than pleasant. they gave me the model up[ ( v+ series ) and shipped it with overnight shipping. so when items worked out, the drive nevertheless died on me. - Painless, swift install (no drivers or utilities)- Good speed, feels a lot more quickly than typical 7200rpm challenging drive- Good cost for all this dependable functionality, offered all the trouble other folks appear to be having with other drives- nice metal enclosure + USB enclosure for employing as an external drive A tad slow when running XP (but XP was slow on my challenging drive also so it may possibly just be the develop and/or patch level) This drive is good for the dollars. It has no difficulties, installs quick, is recognized out of the box... and is fairly rapidly, absolutely worth the money versus a quick mechanical drive. I really feel it is a Little slow on the boot for XP due to the fact it says it has a 245 study rate and my machine still requires 10 seconds of waiting prior to it gets past the logo ... but then again this is a XP-SP3 install and it has not had any tuning at all but to make it quicker, and it was A lot slower booting on a challenging drive before I cloned it as-is making use of freeware (xxcopy), not even working with Kingston's software program. Al in all, I am relieved and pleased. I will be back for much more of these new smaller drives from Kingston.

Low energy usage, really tiny heat output, no moving parts, the usual SSD benefits. Less expensive than most other SSDs. Speed. Although this drive is pretty fast when compared to old difficult drives, it is actually slow by SSD requirements. I have a different machine with a RevoDrive and a laptop with a Mushkin SSD, and both seemed significantly quicker. I benchmarked this drive and one more Kingston SSDNow I bought due to the fact the speed didn't seem to be there. Sure enough, this drive just barely bested a 7200RPM SATA drive, and was utterly thrashed by a 7200RPM RAID setup (RAID 50 to be fair) and both of my other SSDs.Thankfully the method I applied this drive in just necessary a small, low cost, low power boot drive, and this match the bill perfectly for the value. So if you want an SSD to extend battery life on a laptop, resist vibration, and so forth. then this is a wonderful selection. If you want blazing speed, look elsewhere.

Its a comparatively cheap SSD. Read speed is amazing. about 10mB/s greater than advertised. Write speed is a little less than half of advertised. Not a terribly big deal offered how inexpensive the drive was, nonetheless disappointing. Possibly limiting the speed of write could be the rest of my rig. Nonetheless, I did test it on one more laptop or computer with the very same outcomes.

Extremely responsive. at least twice as rapid and my challenging drive.speeds are about 90% of what's advertised(normal). 15 seconds to desktop is brilliant!applications begin instantly.nearly forgot to add that my rebate only took five weeks total!! Kingston has wonderful rebate service. It even sends notifications to you by e mail. I bought it twoቧ and received rebate threeቮ and I even waited a week to mail it to make certain it worked in case I require to return it. so in fact it was only four weeks!!๛ with rebate! (almost a dollar per gigabyte!) On my non-intel motherboard, it's a small slow from 50% TO 90% speeds based on when garbage collection or trim is last ran.On my Intel method, it was about the similar until I installed Intel's Rapid Storage Engineering (RST) and it stays complete speed all the time now. You'll AHCI enabled for this to operate. My windows encounter index (WEI) scores went from five.9 to 6.9 immediately after putting in RST. This factor might not be the top rated of the line model of SSDs, but any SSD will double your tough drive speeds no matter what. I purchased two of these and even attempted RAID and the speed wasn't that noticeable as just replacing the difficult drive. I assume it was like 20% with the RAID , so I put the other one in my Mac and it now flies as well!!

1 works, most of the time.Very good speed, and possibly dependable in a space temperature Pc. Ordered two, 1 was DOA.Not a great SSD for a CarPC.CarPC does not start at beneath 15 degrees F. I ordered 2 drives from an additional place which I can't mention cuz it will get starred out anyways, but they're taking 1 back, and I'm gonna have to deal with the other 1. I had a Vertex 2 60GB in my CarPC just before, but decided I necessary the speed much more in my desktop Computer than in the car, so I switched it out with this SSD. Effectively, if it's as well cold over night, the motherboard will not recognize this SSD till you TURN OFF the Computer and start out it up as soon as the auto is sufficiently warmed up. Vertex two performed fine in degree F conditions prior to altering out. What occurs is it wakes up from hibernation and works for a handful of minutes (probably whatever was buffered in memory just before it went to sleep) and then it skips the moment it begins trying to read the drive once again. No matter how quite a few instances you reset immediately after this point, even if the vehicle is warmed up, the BIOS will not locate the difficult drive. If I install a toggle switch it will be fine, but I hadn't completed that ahead of winter, so i gotta pull the fuse. Excellent cost, super fast. Got with rebate which made it a deal. Like having a new laptop. A bit tricky to install. Couldn't get any tech assistance. A bit little in capacity. I bought this to replace the old, slow drive in a notebook that is about 3 years old, operating XP. The drive was so slow it was driving me nuts, and I created sure it was defragmented and was only 50% complete. The hard element about installing the SSD is cloning the technique drive. I tried copying the program partition, but it was not bootable. Finally I applied XXCopy which was slow, but it worked. Make positive to make the copy bootable! I found 1 tutorial about how to do it utilizing clonezilla that was outstanding, but only immediately after I got it working. It took all day which was not entertaining.Anyway, the performance is outstanding. Every thing occurs about two - 4 occasions more quickly. HDTune measures raise at 4 occasions more than old drive. And yes, surfing web is way faster. Also, the drive is silent and runs cool. The old tricky drive was constantly finding hot and making the fans turn on in the laptop. It was so annoying. Now it is constantly cool and silent.Surely worth it.

Purchased two of these two weeks ago and they already contained the urgent firmware update place out by Kingston. I installed one in a desktop and one particular in a laptop and work flawlessly. The increased speed is noticeable and each carry out close to spec. Does NOT assistance TRIM or garbage collection in Raid . If you want to stripe two SSD drives for gaming, this is NOT the challenging drive for you. You need to have to go up a model with Kingston or go with one more manufacturer model. Kingston has an superb information sheet and FAQ web-site and I strongly advise you verify it out if you are shopping for this for a performance process. A ฽ dollar rebate can\'t be beat specifically when you finish up paying only ๛ for a 64GB SSD.

Silent. Fast. Win 7 installed super-rapidly. Boot times literally went down to mere seconds. Yet, the biggest difference could be observed in how rapidly Workplace 2010 loads up. It is simply incredible how considerably snappier the OS and programs are. Could be much more spacious. Do oneself a favor. Install Win 7 (Vista if you should) from scratch on this SSD. If you clone a normal HD, you could miss a lot of optimizations win 7 will perform whilst installing. I do not suggest installing XP on SSD unless you know how to optimize XP for SSD. Unlike Win 7, XP was not written with SSD in thoughts.

Fast, quiet, smaller and silent. Reliability? I have been deploying this similar drive at function on XP and 7 machines and have had one act flaky out of about 60. I got this 1 for property and operates perfectly with no issues therefore far. It takes so tiny space in the machine and a common ATX case had the appropriate screw holes to mount it leaving lots of room for air circulation.

Finally took the step and decided to upgrade my 3.5 year old Macbook Pro w/ a SSD drive. I am so glad I did! Boots up Snow Leopard in about 20 seconds. All my apps launch much more super fast compared to my old 5400rpm hdd. I installed my old hdd as a secondary drive in my superdrive slot (w/ a low-cost hd caddy I purchased off e bay), so I'm able to store all my music, films & pics on that and preserve just the crucial apps on this SSD. Sleep and wake up function perfectly and it seems to run a bit cooler. I can't genuinely comment how it affects battery life, given that my battery is dead and I generally have it plugged in. But surely the finest upgrade I could've accomplished for an older personal computer. none so far I've only had it installed for about 2months and everything's been working perfectly thus far.Installation into my Macbook Pro was a breeze (under 15 minutes). I was able to install a fresh copy of Snow Leopard off a USB flash drive. From start to finish, it took under an hour. I highly advise carrying out this upgrade with this SSD.Got this with a mail-in-rebate from Kingston. Just received the check yesterday!

Pros: Reliable drive for basic usage at a fairly cheap price
Comment:
Kingston v100 SSD is the cheap reliable option. Not very big, but we threw it into our netbook which doesn't store much on it anyways, and it felt decently snappier.Unfortunately this product has been EOL'd by the v200's which are proving to be much worse. If you want a budget reliable mid-performance SSD, try and find a v100.Price point made this a very good option when it was available
