Plugged it in...it worked! None. XP discovered drivers...plugged in an accessory firewire, and it showed up.

Tends to make my front panel Firewire connection function None however I in fact had the PCI version of this card already but my graphics card "took more than" the PCI slot it was in. So I got this for my PCI-E slot next to the graphics card.

Cons: Does not come with a low profile bracket

Pros: It works with my Shaw set-top box (Motorola DCX3200-M)
Comment:
I bought this card with the intention of recording video through my Shaw set-top box's firewire port. The program I used to do the recording is CapDVHS. Everything works as I expected. No driver issues with Windows 7 32-bit.For those interested in getting this card to work with a Motorola set-top box, visit this link for the custom drivers and recording software http://www.avsforum.com/t/403695/how-to-record-via-ieee-1394-firewire-to-windows-xp/5880#post_22536429

Oh Yeah! Did I mention it functions out of the box with OSX. Now I have to edit videos! I don't like to edit movies. It bores me!!!! If you don't like work, like myself and your firewire is down don't acquire this. I'm nevertheless pretending it's not working. P.S. I like cherry pop tarts.

Installed the card and works perfect in Windows 7 without setting up any drivers. The internal connector permits me to hook up the front-panel firewire port. Perfect card! Thanks! None. Highly advised card for Windows 7

None other than it seemed to install properly underneath Vista House Premium. Will not recognize my AcomdataHD250 firewire drive, but the drive works fine on my wife's laptop, which also has Vista Residence Premium. Drive worked fine with the PCI card that was previously installed, but I had to remove to get my new video card to fit. The odd factor is that the card recognizes my Panasonic camcorder and transfers data fine from it. Not worth the hassle and funds to RMA it based on the $$ I paid for it. Manufacturer Response:Dear Client,If your enclosure is not recognized by Windows, it could be a driver problem. You can download the most recent driver from your enclosure manufacturer to fix your difficulty. All of our items come with at least three years warranty. This card has one particular distinctive feature which extremely few others have, an internal connection. Since my motherboard did not come with an on-board connector for my case's front-panel firewire plug, this was precisely what I necessary.Recognized by Vista immediately, no drivers required. Utilizes up a PCI-E slot.

Affordable! So I purchased this card as an add on to connect a Focusrite Saffire LE audio interface. Buying it was almost certainly my first mistake. It is accurate you get what you pay for. This thing is buggy. The controller for the audio interface kept freezing and reporting "Firewire connection lost". I ran a latency test and located it was running off the charts. Following disabling items in the device manager I had no achievement till I came to this card. I have tested the interface on one more technique. The challenge definitely lies in the affordable firewire card. At least Newegg is has excellent consumer service and assistance. I will return this sad sight and get a unique card. Manufacturer Response:Dear Client,Most of the firewire audio devices call for certain chipsets to work. This card is making use of the JMB381 chipset. Please check with your audio device manufacturer for supported chipsets. All of our solutions come with at least 3 years warranty. Cons: Locks up my system at random when I am using it!

Pros: Affordable, easy to install like any other PCIE card
Comment:
Not compatible with Protools. Probably ok with smaller things that don't transfer a lot of data. The price of these PCIE 1394 cards varies wildly, and I went with the most budget friendly - I suppose you get what you pay for. Also in one of the other reviews some guy said he got an adapter with his - mine didn't. I dunno if this is a case of mistaken identity or what, but if I were supposed to recieve a cable or something with it I didn't.

Cons: No Internal Connector

Pros: Works Great
Comment:
I bought this card to use my external hard drive with my pc, works great for what I bought it for and it even includes an adapter for using an internal firewire connector. It would be nice if it had an internal connector instead of an adapter that runs outside the pc, but overall a great deal for the price.
