Simple to install. Booted machine windows prompted for driver disk, sata drive was recognized none but I was nervous about this card mainly because I didn't see something about vista support but set up was a snap so almost everything went fantastic

It is incredibly easy to install and demands no user input if you arent trying to install a new challenging drive. I don't know if this was a flaw with the controller or if it was window's fault, but the windows SP2 disk wouldn't recognize that i had a difficult drive attached. The way i finally got it functioning was i installed windows on my old drive and Copied anything from my old drive more than to the SATA one particular. The principal explanation i got this Is since my original IDE really hard drive failed and i wasn't pondering when i opt for a Sata replacement.

wasn't as well tough for hardware installation, worked just fine when I had it operating. Driver computer software at Syba site is not right. Rather attempt looking the driver from By way of web page given that the actual item is Via produced, only sold in Syba name. the bracket's not seating propperly might be a great point in concidering, even even though mine was in a position to fit, it still was a bit loose.

Using in a Windows 2003 server. Server has current on-board RAID, added this card to support two 1TB Western Digital WD10EACS SATA 3. drives. When card won't let me realize quickest attainable access for these drives (limitation due to PCI spec, not the card itself), installation was a snap. Integrated drivers installed just fine and OS is possessing no troubles with each RAID controllers. Through RAID software monitors drive status and reports errors (I assume, drives have been operating with no difficulties) None. Newegg delivers quickly and controller operates as anticipated. Rapidly delivery from Newegg, card is great value for RAID on the inexpensive. Upgraded server capacity 5X for less than 趚.

affordable, easy to set up, worked! Ahead of I got the card on the web I looked for cards at other stores in town and they were twice as significantly and without the through chipset non genuinely, I guess I would of liked a longer SATA cable, and maybe a SATA connection on the back of the card. So I didn't have to open my case if I want to reflash. Awesome and Low cost

It is on e of the incredibly few if any that really perform with NT4.0sp6.Yeh-da da da - We have numerous NT4.o servers and a a lot of licenses that upgrading is out of the question at this time. I attempted quite a few of the Sil3114 that stated they perform with NT4 but in fact do not help it. By way of to date is the only chip set that appears to function fine. There is a level of understanding with a range of MB's that will cause grief to these attempting to make this function. - Windows changed its I/O format over the years from W95-98-NT-2K(WDM) WinXP- Win7 and so forth. I am confident they will transform once more quickly.Even Linux has now changed with RHEL-five-6.The troubles I study about are the identical sequence the PCI-IDE controller cards had that are now resolved. It is now SATA's controller cards turn to enter the trial and error arena.Functions fine on my ten year old dual PIII motherboard (no tin whiskers allowed). Non so far.Sadly it took several purchases of 2 and 4 port PCI to SATA cards to get this far. Would like to have a four port card that truly functions.

Does anything its supposed to do under FreeBSD. Both IDE drives i have connected to it 鷐gb Seagate, and 60gb Western Digital) run in UDMA one hundred. FreeBSD has had no stability problems or otherwise using it and the drives run good. Debian and NetBSD wouldn't detect the IDE drives I had connected to it at all. OpenBSD would only run the drives in PIO mode four, which was also slow for me to use as a file server. Has run great so far. I have a 400gb that I wanted to use with a computer system that didn't support 48 bit LBA in its BIOS. This card has served that objective completely. Have not applied the RAID feature in it so can't comment. However, assistance with most OS's is below par. Fortunately one of my top rated alternatives for a file server worked with out troubles.

Auto detects quickly with windows 7 64 bit. Will detect 1tb drives. That is all for pros. Obsolete. I set up raid with 2 1tb wester digital 32mb drives with 64 stripe. Witch gave me individually about 110 mb reads and writes on three. sata conector. In hope to expand my connectivity thinking in should give about 80 to 100 mb per second. And the speed dropped to 50mb. 50. Its great for extremely old systems. Like p3 and p4 to connect two ide drives that you have hanging about and perhaps an old satas drives. Its not for functionality. Generally it obsolete. Manufacturer Response:Dear Consumer,Thank you for buying our Syba merchandise. We are sorry to hear that the solution has stop functioning as it should be. Please refer to our critiques. The 150mb/second is the burst rate. It only last for a couple of seconds soon after that it will give a steady tranfer price of up to 50mb-second We constantly try to offer the most reputable solutions to our customers and all solutions come with at least three-year warranty. So please don't hesitate to make contact with us at help@sybausa.com for replacement or question.Regards,Syba Client Service KN 081910

Low-cost, easyinstallation. Works with Vista and XP Slow boot up time for Win XP about ten-15 sec Purchased this for Dell Inspiron 530 with Vista. 1st time I plug it in, it boot suitable into my IDE devices 鳠GB master and DVD burner slave) with no installing driver. Installed XP on 530 and attempted it once more, this time it didnt show up till driver is installed. Plus it slowed the boot up time by ten-15 sec. Over all wonderful device, I would recommend this !

Low cost, operates out of the box. Sata and IDE RAID. Works with IDE and SATA dvd/cd drives. Can't boot from either an IDE or SATA cd/dvd drive. Accessing very same drive below Ubuntu or Antix GNU/Linux or Windows XP is flawless. Can't truly complain too significantly about this as I *sorta* knew it wouldn't have this ability. RAID performs out of box with WinXP provided you make a F6 floppy for a fresh installation. Couldn't be buggered to configure RAID for Ubuntu/Antix as I was out of time/patience. Doesn't make me pancakes?Provided time, I possibly would have found an all too obvious way to RAID my Linux install(s)

Comments: Finally it's functioning now and it's seriously painful to install the driver. 1. In my initially re-boot soon after plug in this card, it's conflict with my video card and windows 2003's desktop back to 256 color, 640x480.2. No autorun in CD, so run setup program manualy, report "CAN NOT Come across Suitable HARDWARE"three. Forced to set up two drivers below windows, PIDE driver and RAID driver, ofcause, both got doesn't operate correctly warning from hardware manager. If you skip this step, windows will not detect the new hardware in the subsequent step.four. After re-boot, windows identified new hardware and installed a new driver itself with a diverse name. Delete the two drivers installed before. This card is functioning now. 5. Didn't test RAID but, don't want to waste additional time. If you are the guy who like DIY yourself, you can obtain this a single and really feel the old college windows 95 days. This remind me the days of win3.11/win95, operating long time to install the driver for the hardware. Excellent practice. :)

It's affordable and it has the By means of 6421 chipset. This is fairly critical if you want to run Windows XPx64. Installs as the manual explains and it just plain operates! A need to have if you want far more than 4 IDE devices on a Windows XPx64 rig. None so far I purchased this card for the Through 6421 chipset. I have 2 160GB drives that could not be noticed by Windows XPx64 because the SIL0680 chipset on the installed card did not have a driver offered for x64. The Through does, in truth, XPx64 was capable to install the driver automatically as it is the similar 1 used by my Soltek mainboard's onboard SATA.
