Moves air. Does what it is supposed to. Not whisper silent, but close sufficient so that if you place it subsequent to a window, the outdoors noises will mask the sound. Place two of these into a Seagate Mirra M-120 converted to run WinXP. So far so great, no much more overheating problems.

*perfect* replacement for the chip fan on a Shuttle X27, it is *totally* silent now certainly *none* fits perfectly in spite of becoming thicker than the original (and noisier) shuttle fan.

Fairly quiet, good for northbridge. Comes with screws... that match!Very good airflow contemplating the size and rpm. No tach wire. I mounted one of these upside down sucking hot air away from the northbridge seemed to perform much better that blowing air onto the bridge.I wonder how long that sleeve bearing will final on that hot northbridge.

Incredibly quiet when not confined (but see negatives). I want my ear within a handful of inches to hear a slight ticking sound in a fairly quiet room.40mm x 20mm.Entertaining Japanese packaging. There is a slight ticking sound that resonates anytime I place this fan in any enclosed space. I attempted damping the space and the mounting, but nothing at all worked. I am very dissapointed. This sound is nevertheless considerably lower than my 2.five" hdd spinning, but in a program with no other moving components it is killing me.I subtracted an entire egg simply because this fan only came with screws for northbridge mounting. The mounting holes are non-regular size, so I had to drill them out to 5ቼ" and then forcibly tap them with typical fan screws I had sitting about. Enormous discomfort in my backside, and 20 minutes and 50 calories I'll by no means have back. I want Scythe would have Ũ.01 of nuts so their standard bolts would function on a case.Cooling capabilities as a case fan are limited. My passively cooled Atom N270 / 945GSE mobile chipset hardly saw a transform in idle temperatures when this was added. I could construct a tunnel to direct the airflow. I assumed this would be the case. I may well just not use it. Mounted this in a M350 case, which only mounts 40mm fans. Added to a system with no moving components to see if I could bring my idle temps down from 55C.If you have any other moving parts then you will not ear this fan. But you may possibly want to really feel your non-passively-cooled northbridge now and then to make certain it is not 100C.Don't purchase this for regular case mounting unless you want a project in drilling/tapping the holes.

quiet when I plug in compaired to my OEM came with board. I rolled the dice on the hieght. I failed. I can't get my 4650 PCI card in with out breaking off capacitor on it. Expense additional to ship item then what worth. 5Ǟ"tall hope that aids. Will use as HD replacement fan when they go.

Scythe fans look to have the ideal ratings. This 1 didn't fit the factory VGA heat sink on my Intel Mini-ITX motherboard. The dimensions are 40x40x20, but I seriously necessary a 40x40x10 size fan. It was cheaper to order one more one than to ship this a single back. I guess that's my fault for not measuring the old fan. The fan functions ok, it's just too huge. Seems louder than the 40x40x10 fan. I guess all 40mm fans are sort of noisey.

I got these fans to replace the ones in my intercooler for the PS3. Boy are they quiet! So quiet that I really don't hear them and I have the program proper next to me. No difficulties so far. They have withstood the continual heat that burnt out the bearings of the original fans. For the price you can't beat this. None so far.

Quiet air movement, decent air flow, decent price. Has mechanical whine that is transmitted by way of mount to case, even soon after a 24hr break in. May possibly will need an isolated mounting program. Scythe's bigger fans are properly recognized as rather. This was a disappointment. I purchased two of these. Each have very quiet air flow, substantially quieter than the stock fan. But both have a very notable mechanical whine/ higher pitch buzz that is transmitted to the case. Acquiring a quiet 40mm fan is challenging as there aren’t several choices out there. I'm still seeking.

Extremely quiet fan. I employed this to replace the stock ASUS fan on an Atom motherboard. If you want near-silence, this is your fan. None. Involves 2 pin to 3 pin power cable adapter if thats far more your style. Packaging need to win award for most random color advertising and marketing.

Inexpensive, does it's job none Newegg was out of the Scythe NB cooling fans and I located these which are precisely the very same conserve they are 10mm thicker. Needless to say it is now installed on my NB and cooling it really effectively.

Quite quiet. Moves plenty of air. It has two prongs for the power, but has a 2-to-three adapter. A bit thick. I purchased this to replace the fans in two switches, a DLINK DGS-1024D and a HP ProCurve 1800-24G. The fan substantially thicker than the stock fan on the DLink and it wouldn't fit. I may mount it to the outside of the switch casing. This fan fit the HP Procurve completely, as it is the identical thickness as the stock fan for it. I'm glad the fan came with the 2-to-three pin adapter, due to the fact the HP needed it. It produced the switch whisper quiet.

Really quiet. Replaced a noisy CPU fan on a mini-ITX board. Could barely hear a whirr from this a single with my ear appropriate subsequent to it. Comes with two pin connector and a two to 3 pin adapter. None ... yet. Hope it stays quiet and keeps operating. We'll see.

The specs on this fan are wonderful, but be careful to note that it is 2cm tall, not 1cm as most 40mm fans. 2cm height as an alternative of 1cm.

Quite Quiet for such a smaller fan, provided considerably necessary relief for my ears and for my overclocked NB. Scythe has continuously provided me with great air-cooling options no-matter what the application may well be None that I could discern I bought this fan to replace an incredibly loud, stock NB fan. Before this, my NB fan sounded like a jet-engine (It was spinning at close to 8000RPMs...unbelievable) Very very good decision on my component.

Extremely quiet, tiny, inexpensive. It doesn't move a entire lot of air, but I guess that comes with the 40mm quiet territory. The whine referenced in the earlier overview need to have resulted from a factory defect or something.

I applied three of these to refurbish my old shuttle machine. Two fans fit into the energy supply and a single for the chipset.I had to hack off the fan connectors and solder it into the current shuttle power supply wiring but it was straightforward and they are extremely quiet. Tacky packaging. This was a reasonably low-cost way to go to make my shuttle case quiet yet again. Following four years of chugging away I feel the cumulative wear was starting to show. The machine was whiny. I utilized a shotgun method and replaced all of the fans in the case. Excellent outcome and worth the dollars.

Didn't price substantially.Operate fine. Not as substantially airflow as I hoped, but plenty to get the job performed.A bit loud operating at full, but not a issue for me. Utilized two of these to replace the fans in my old server's energy provide when 1 of them died.

This small guy pushes a lot of air and doesn't require any fancy LEDs to get its job carried out efficiently and QUIETLY. 40mm fans are notorious for making a lot of noise due to the high RPMs that they run at, but this one particular is a massive upgrade over my old 1. Several connectors make for simple installation None, but it is a tiny bit chunkier (thicker) than my old 1 that I replaced (a cooler master blue led 1). I have it mounted directly onto my northbridge heatsink on a gigabyte 965 DS3 motherboard. The screws fit perfectly into the sails on the heatsink. Cools it down significantly for overclocking the ram!

Moves a reasonable amount of air for its size.Quieter than the fans they replaced.Affordable. None so far. I purchased four of these fans and utilised them to replace some fans in an older amplifier. The two pin plug fit the bill, and the size was appropriate. The thickness ྴ mm) did turn out to be an concern but I was able to make it function. The amplifier now runs cooler and quieter now. I will surely get these again if I have will need for a 40 mm fan.
