Excellent headset, high quality and good sound. Comfortable and convenient, with the included cable splitters (no hardware switching). One minor annoyance, some games trigger an extremely high pitch tone that only subsides after cycling the power. This is the in-line amp's fault, and probably isolated as i havn't heard anyone else complain. Headset's superb. Amp's alright. Sound excellent. Great features. Worth it.

Cons: -My g/f thinks I look stupid with it on (haha)

Pros: -Good Price for top notch 5.1 sound-The amp works great-Volume can go VERY loud-Fits around my big head with room to spare
Comment:
So far it's exceeded my expectations; the sound destroys a basic stereo headset and any virtual 5.1 I’ve ever owned. My friends tell me I sound much better with the new mic. I usually buy a cheap headset that breaks in 3months or so for 1/4 even if this headset only lasts a year (should last much longer because of the breakaway cable) it will still have cost me the same as 4 or 5 cheapies for the year. I would recommend this headset to anyone (so far)and as usual NCIX shipping and service was top notch.

A good product, but it could use a couple improvements. The sound is very good, but direction isn't as discernible as with a set of speakers. Maybe it would be better if the phones cupped the ears instead of sitting over them. Also, it would be nice if the balance dials lit up so I could set them in dim light.

Cons: comfort, size

Pros: Great directional sound
Comment:
Trutle beach headset are very good for the directional sound quality. You will need to take some time to get it on the right setting for it to have great sounds for movies and music. It come with a great attachment that you dont have to unplug everything everytime when you switch between speakers and the headset. The padding on the headset need to be more soft i think, also, the size of the cups are abit too big for me. After i put them on, i cant really tilte my head to my shoulder because the headphone cups will touch my shoulder. Its a great pair of gaming headset i have to say for its positional sound quality, and i love the attachment. But i would go for something smaller and more comfortable if you want a set of stereo headphones for music and movies i think.

I tried this headset out at PAX 2009, and I am really happy to find that NCIX carries this line of headsets. Surround-sound headphones are rare finds, and quality ones tend to start at $200. After being disappointed with the bass performance and overall quality of my last pair (Zalman), I was thrilled to find a much better headset in these Turtle Beach series.Turtle Beach does not ship to Canadian customers; fortunately NCIX has the hook up.

Cons: Unconventional head strap, sensitive low frequency speakers.

Pros: Low price, great sound quality, great bass, solid microphone.
Comment:
Great set of headphones. I've owned several pairs now and these are by far the best in sound quality, and for a relatively low price as 5.1 headphones go. The only thing is you must be very careful about configuring your sound card's subwoofer slider. Higher than a low setting shortens the life span of your headphones and blows the low frequency speakers out in a matter of weeks. As I found out the hard way, this is not covered by TB's warranty. Overall a great product if you're careful with them.

I needed something to use at night so as not to disturb the family while gaming, but was concerned over the USB models as a) I'd have to switch sound devices and b) without multiple drivers, I couldn't be sure the surround sound quality would really be there. I finally found these HPA2's and noticed they had audio splitters so I could hook it directly into my soundcard and not have to worry about drivers or hardware switching. Additionally, the surround sound is just as good as my 5.1 speaker setup, so I really don't notice any lack of positional audio while using the headset over my speakers. Definitely very happy with my purchase.

Cons: LED on the amp is brightness overkill in the dark, Large ear cup's take some getting used to, Because it plugs in to your sound card overall quality can vary depending on your card (Sounds great with my X-Fi Extreme Gamer though).

Pros: Excellent 5.1 positional accuracy, Thick cable means increased durability, USB powered, Inline amp can get REAL loud, separate volume controls for each of the channels, Detachable and long boom mic, Modern Design, Great Value for a 100 bucks, Minimum packaging waste
Comment:
Ok after 3 years of use my old Plantronics headset went south so after looking at different makers I came across Turtle Beach, I was looking for a XB:360 Headset and I noticed they also made some rather popular pc headsets too; So I decided to order a pair and try them out.Unpacking and SetupLike most consumer electronics the HPA2's come in this hard tough plastic casing which can be a nightmare to open. However once it was opened everything was packed in with minimum packaging waste. Setup was very simple Plug the headphone's in to the amp and plug the amp in to your sound card and a usb port for power. Plugging in the mic was also simple; line up the 2 arrows and push the mic in to the socket. I found the mic once attached easy to move but still firmly attached to the headphone.Audio Quality and 5.1 Positional Accuracy:With the 2 games I tested the HPA2's on (Call of Duty: World at War and Team Fortress 2) the sound cues and clarity of such ques were so good compared to my last headset that I actually turned my head around to make sure the bullet wasn't real. The accuracy for me was spot on and unlike anything I've ever heard before. With Music the HPA2's brought out extra hidden bass and mid tones out of my mid-rage quality iTunes songs that I thought would not be hear-able in a compressed AAC file. Beaware though the HPA2's got some really good amount of base via it's woofers so much so that if your not careful it can be overpowering to the mid and high range tones.Build Quality and Comfort So far I'm impressed with the build quality of the HPA2's the screw based design is more reliable and solid in my opinion then a snap in based design and the thick cord means it's less prone to internal breakage. However I have heard others have had quality problems with the adjustable headband. Wile I have had no failures with it or other components of the headphones it is something I will keep in mind as I use the HPA2's. The comfort of the ear cups are impressive for such large ear cups but depending on your head size and sensitivity the large size of the ear cups may take some getting used to but are comfortable for long gaming sessions at lease for me.Extra Features:I like the fact the TB included the rather powerful 6 channels amp with the HPA2's. The separate volume dials on the amp allow for the perfect volume balance among all the channels and the master allows for quick adjustments on the fly. Also this amp is a beast. it can get very loud very quick; it might even be powerful enough to do some damage to the speakers in the headphones so don't turn it up too loud. Also in this rendition of the HPA2's the Amp is USB powered. not AC powered so just the X52's from TB the HPA2's portable as well. My only gripe about the amp is when it's on the LED light it has is total brightness overkill in the dark. Other extras include cable ties and clamps to help keep the cord neat and tidy and wile it's of no use to me the included splitter cable is always a + for people who also have a 5.1 speaker setup as well. Also of note is the fact that the HPA2's can be disconnected from the amp; so in case the headphones fail just disconnect the busted pair and reconnect the new ones to the existing amp.Summary:Overall I'm quite impressed with the Turtle Beach HPA2 Headphones. To my ears the 5.1 positional accuracy was spot on and the shear quality of the speakers brought out extra details in my iTunes music. While long term build quality is unknown so far the build quality is good. Pried at just 100 dollars CAD. The Turtle Beach Ear Force HPA2's are a great solution for people wanting a high quality headset but are ready to move up to a 5.1 surround sound headset. Pair it with a good sound card and your good to go, just a few minor blemishes keep it from the 5 star rank.Final score:4 stars/5

Cons: -It doesn't come with the adapter for just headphone use

Pros: -Super Comfortable-Amazing sound quality-Reasonable price

This headset is great. Super comfy for long play sessions. The removable mic is great for when you just want to listen to music or watch a movie. Unfortunately, it doesn't inlude the one line attachment but I already had one from my old X-52 set. The surround sound it quite good and the audio quality overall is top notch.

Overall this is a great product.. The sound is true, bass is deep.. They are comfortable to wear for long periods of time.. One thing I noted is, the padding is fabric which isnt detatchable in any way. Wearing for long periods of time cause you to sweat into the headhpones, not easily cleaned. Asides from that, the quality is great

i will admit they are pricey, but compared to some other 5.1 surround they really arent too bad at all. the sound is VERY nice and can be configured to ur likings, i use them for counter strike source, etc......i also have 1,1/4" gauges in my ears so i had to be weary about buying a headset and these are definitly the most comfortable pair i have had yet,,,......if ur looking, buy

Pros: very high qaulity of sound, and built in sub is one of a kind nothing touches these for overall sound
Comment:
these are by far the best headset for the oc you can by, true full size stereo technoligy built in subs will make your head shake if you turn it up, i also got the package deal with the usb external sound card, a very nice add on, allows you to hear noise in the room around you if baby is sleeping ect i totally love this headset, and will not go far from turtle beach in the future with newer headsets...

Great gaming sound but not so hot for music. The left ear cup rattles a little bit when the bass is hitting but not bad. Overall for the price I am very happy with these.

Please do not listen to anyone who complains about the 5.1 performance of these headphones, for it is perfect and MUCH more precise than any surround speaker set. Those people do not know how to properly configure their hardware. Same with those who complain about the bass, they have the loudest bass output of any headphones on the market, gaming or not. The ONLY con of this set is that the amp provides minimal hiss, which is why quality gets a 4 from me. Here's a tip: after many months of tweaking, I found that the optimal amp settings are front: 2 center: 2 surround: 3 sub: 6

Very high quality construction. Bought these to replace a ''behind the head'' headset that was extremely uncomfortable after a few hours: these things feel like pillows against my head. Microphone pickup isn't very directional, and picks up external noise; 5.1 is very nice after minor tweaking; the equalizer is a little heavy and could really use a clip to prevent it from sliding off the desk; double headband does NOT put my head in a vice and will stay in place; power and volume knob are combined, making it very hard to put it back to the same level each time you use it.

Build quality is very nice. Very comfortable, good fit, blocks out majority of outside noises. My gripe is that the 5.1 ain't that great. I had these hooked up to a Creative XFi with all proper drivers, config, etc. and the surround effects were negligible while playing Fallout3, COD4, COD5, and Left for Dead. Sound quality was solid, but I wouldn't buy these for the surround aspect. Returned to Frys - I'll pick up a sweet pair of Sennheiser cans instead.

Not bad for gaming. The mic pics up too much sound around you. This makes your mic sound fuzzy to others. Bass is weaker than I had hoped, but this is also without a good sound card. Not bad for the price. Very good for watching movies or listening to music, but for gaming you would want a little clearer 5.1 surround sound to know when someone is trying to sneak up on you. Comfortable for a couple hours in a row.

Cons: - Fairly poor construction.- Earphones too small and shallow - ears *never* adjusted.

Pros: - Good quality surround sound.- Really decent bass for a 5.1 headset via in cup sub.
Comment:
This was my first non-stereo headset, purchased primarily for PC gaming. The sound quality and directionality were are very good. The bass from the in cup subs also really pleased me and I'm concerned I'll miss it in my next set.The construction seemed decent on this set, so my only real complaint early on was comfort. Usually when I buy a new headset my ears have some discomfort while they adjust. In the case of the HPA2s my ears never adjusted and there was always discomfort and pain after about the 1-2 hour mark. The final blow against this headset came yesterday, when the inner earpiece separated from the outer headphone due to cheap construction. The use these things see is: sitting on my head and getting moved to the desktop in between uses. I'm careful with the things I own, so this breakage of the three plastic connections between the two pieces is just low quality and I really expected more than a year out of a headset that was around the $100 price point.I now have an order in for the "Tritton Axpro True 5.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headphones W/ Ext Dolby Digital Prologic II Decoder" headset and hope they will meet my needs a little better.
