I bought this item to just ensure that I would get a good signal for the pc I built for my mother - in - law. It works fine, but I was unsure of the signal strength to begin with.

Cons: It is definitely NOT 7 dBi at 5ghz, and a complete waste of money if you're trying to boost your 5ghz signal. Signal is worse than with my OEM 2 dBi antennaes.

Pros: None that I have experienced.
Comment:
Got this antenna to replace the OEM 2 dBi antennaes that came with my D-link DIR-825, after experiencing severe signal strength drops on wireless a/n 5ghz across two drywall walls and about 12-15m distance (severe enough to affect media streaming and sometimes even regular web surfing). In short, the performance is worse than the original 2 dBi antennaes. Much worse. This might be good for your older 2.4ghz wireless a/b/g router, but it's a complete waste of money for wireless a/n at 5ghz. In addition, the antenna itself is flimsy, and when mounted on the wall won't hold it's position if gravity can pull it any lower. *Notice that my duration of ownership so far is 1 day. However, this is a simple matter. Either it works or it doesn't (and yes I have tried every possible configurations of direction and placement that I could think of). And in this case it performs so miserably worse than the OEM dBi antennaes that I just don't see the point of giving it a longer try. There is a difference of 40% in signal strength between running the router with out any external antenna or with this one--it is 40% weaker *with* this antenna on.

Cons: Connector too deep for Trendnet router

Pros: Boost working distance
Comment:
One of the room on the upper floor can barely connected to the Trendnet 452BRP router on the main floor. With this antenna, the signal strength instantly went up to 4 out of 5 bars. Connection on the main floor remains at 4 bars however. The only con is that the connector on the antenna itself is a little wider than the stock antenna. I had to enlarge the plastic hole of the router to fully tighten it. It still works just fine w/o this mod, but I am picky.

I had to buyt this antenna since I'm in the basement. I connected it in my wireless network card ( the antenna coming with it was good if not better ) but the concrete wall was stopping all the signal, I could only have 1-2 green bars. So I extended it and now I'm with 4 green bars signal. I would recommend it for people that have computer in a basement and need to extend their network card antenna. Cons: Cable not very long, can't remove magnet on base, didn't get signal boost

Pros: Works fine, its big
Comment:
I get the same signal strength as my 2 dbi antenna for my PCI wireless card 2-3 bars. This does seem more stable though. It also might be my router not being strong enough rather than needing a stronger antenna, as I am in the basement. This is good as a short antenna extension. I needed one because my computer hardware was inteferring with my wifi. Overall I'm satisfied as my wifi is working again, but disappointed a 3dbi increase did nothing.

I bought this to replace the extension antenna included with my (TigerDirect) Hiro PCI Wireless NIC. While the signal strength and quality are reported to be better it makes no apparent difference in the connect speed to my AP. It hovered around 24Mbps and it's still at 24Mbps. The AP is on a different floor of the house about 40ft from the PC - open architecture more or less.

I got this from a friend who orderd it thru Tiger Direct. This is not a bad antenna for the price, works fairley decent and does improve reception. You will have to turn it one way or the other sometimes..

It's fairly Decent, it made my connection Alot Stronger... Although, once in awhile it'll juggle around and jump from ''Low'' connection to ''Very Good'' Connection. Perhaps it's because I'm all the way on the other side of the house plus two stories Up...
