Cons: Kinda nit-picking here...Admin password is limited to 12 characters.No tomato firmware support. (Though DD-WRT is available)Kinda big and can't stand vertically.

Good features and performance for only $50. This is my second piece of gear from TP-Link and so far both have been performing great. I'd have to say TP-Link is my new favourite value brand for networking gear. |

I was looking for a better router to replace existing DLINK 605L, cause weak signal strength and small ranger for a three bedroom apt. Based on searched reviews, it seems good one for both performance and price.But I am very disappointed, even worse than DLINK 605L totally, the one which got at $25 on last black friday.I have updated the latest firmware and changed relative configuration, just 2.4G tested, after all just hours wasted. BTW, I am an IT professional.I should go Asus RT-N56. This is my first tplink router, also last one. This review was modfied by poster @ 07-05-13 03:10 PM |

Cons: nothing to complain especially when i got this under 40 bucks.
Pros: Excellent range and speed. Build Quality is above average. Easy to setup. I like the Wi-fi secured button design. No need to use mac addresses. Comment:
Bought this to replace roger's little box, which had bad range of connections. I am pleased with the outcome. highly recommend this to any home users, especially if u want good connection on all floors. |

After bricking my tomato e1200 that gave me no hiccup as a wireless ethernet bridge, I purchased this router to install open source firmware and replace it. However, there is no real support for 3500 yet and probably won't be (3600 is supported however). There is a trunk version of openwrt floating around but I would not recommend it (I ended up having to reflash stock via scp). I ended up replacing my main router (RTN16 with tomato in pppoe mode via sagemcom) with this and used N16 as bridge instead. The results were surprisingly good. The connections are reliable and fast. The cpu is probably not nearly as fast as N16's 500mhz broadcom but so far it hasn't choked on me yet. |
I have used this WDR3500 on stock firmware (always keep the most updated version) for over a year and none of them provide the same level of stability as DD-WRT. Having said that the stock ones always require regular reboot to regain internet connectivity at least once a week (which is still be okay compares to others).Having loaded DD-WRT betas/2015/03-05-2015-r26446, it is night and day in terms of reliability and functionality. Must use DD-WRT as soon as you start using it.
