Cons: Modems are old technology.

Pros: Makes phone calls, receives phone calls. Receives and sends faxes. It works.
Comment:
Works perfectly as a fax server modem in Server 2008 R2. We were having issues with some faxes not being received or only getting partial receipts (1 page only). This inexpensive device replaced the old one and now they all come in like a charm.

Cons: SOFTWARE Modem

Pros: Low Cost, handset connection
Comment:
I would not buy a software modem for a primary network connection.I was surprised that this thing worked as all as Fax line for one of our servers (Linux). Yeah. Basically took a $10 gamble. We needed the handset connection port for our credit card machine and this thing was almost as cheap as a line splitter for our old (HP inkjet) fax machine. Now I got rid of one more piece of technology. (we can now send faxes from any authorized computer)

Cons: It's Dialup UGH.

Pros: Price, Works, Stable, Great Connection (for dialup LOL)
Comment:
A friend of mine kept calling me about their dialup connection being poor/disconnecting all the time so I bought this modem for them. Albeit I was alittle skeptical about it but was quickly swayed by this units performance. Their connection rate (when connected) was 4.9kbps on average. With this unit it's 29.9kbps now.Their older modem was a GVC brand which was known to be popular at the time with Dell PC's. Anyhow, they are happy....so am I!
