Cons: The software is annoying if you change the "display text size" through the windows control panel. If you keep it at stock 100% then you will have zero issues.

Pros: It works every time I have needed it to.

I own two of these, the primary use for one is as follows:I have this running my 55" Samsung UN55EH6000F tv, Onkyo TX-NR708 with 9 speakers (sub is powered and not on UPS) s 100w each peak, and HTPC (Bulldozer 4100k s stock self auto OC, with 16gb ram, 5 3tb red[raid5]+ 1tb black[boot]+ 2 2tb green[boot backup + misc], evga GTX660 FTW2 2gb, LG bluray drive, OCZ ZX850w PSU). It has never gone above 40% load, and that was with a quad core Atom running a 30 man minecraft server on it, and a Q6600 system with sli'd g80's too. Normal usage playing a bluray with 50-75% volume on receiver (LOUD!) is 24-26% load. I am very impressed. Idle or when browsing the web is 14-16% load. I have complete confidence that between this and the raid5 array I will not lose anything important. The second one is for my gaming rig, but it has less draw then the above setup. I price matched them for an insane deal, but would pay full price if I needed a UPS.I would buy this brand over APC, and anything a big box sells. If you do not mind voiding a warranty you can add in deep cycle yacht batteries to any ups for crazy run time, but with this why bother. I have had 3 gaming rigs on each one s a LAN party, worked great.

Cons: heavy

Pros: lots of features, reliable, well built

This is my first UPS so I have nothing to compare it against.Got this about a year ago when a blackout fried my power supply. I was lucky it did not damage my cpu or hard drives.Since I have had this I have had at least 15 power failures and it has never failed to let me do an orderly shutdown. It does not power using the batteries like most other UPS's. It regulates power directly from the mains. When the main power fails the battery automatically takes over.Probably the best investment you can make to protect your computer. A simple surge protector is just not good enough, you need a UPS.

Cons: No coax protection and relatively short battery runtime, but still and excellent value.

Pros: Simulated sine wave was the second biggest draw for me, the first being its rated capacity. Rock solid for over a year and handling every surge, spike and brownout with ease. Only one blackout and it held for over 5min to safely shut the computer off.
Comment:
NCIX should be recommending these for every builder and system buyer. There isn't a better bang for the buck in terms of system stability and security, even if you're using this on your home entertainment system. It's also one of the few that's rated to handle close to a KW of power usage.During a blackout, I'm sure it can power a laptop and a cable/DSL modem for two or more hours. Just food for thought. The closest APC competing UPS is about twice the price.

Cons: Doesn't come with a USB solution

Pros: Good price compared to other UPS
Comment:
I had a difficult time getting this to communicate with my PC. The UPS communicates using an RS232 serial port. I was hoping for a USB solution, but eventually found success with a good serial card. I tried Opti-UPS USB cable, but could not get communications. Then I tried an nGear USB-COM bridge adapter - no luck. Finally I bought a StarTech serial board.

Cons: -Serial connection is outdated, requires USB conversion cable

Pros: -Price-Performance
Comment:
Got a good deal on pricematch and free shipping, good UPS for the price. Haven't had an power outage yet but I hope it performs as it should. Only thing that I don't like is the serial connection needed to the PC (mine doesn't even have the port) but I knew about that and still bought it.

Cons: COM port instead of USB

Pros: It works? It doesn't get too hotgreat power/price ratio
Comment:
currently i have it powering a 32" HDTV, my PC, and home theatre speakers. what can i really say? it works. i haven't had a power outage yet to really put it to the test, but so far, it's handling a pretty decent load without so much as a hiccup.it's only slightly warm to the touch, too. i've heard of other UPSes getting really hot, or even leaving singe marks on floors. for a relatively high-power UPS, it runs pretty cool.the only complaint is the COM port to hook up to your computer. seriously, when i took it out i stared at the cable thinking "have i ever seen this kind of port before?" before thinking WAY back to my very first PC. yeah... that port died a long time ago. USB would be infinitely more useful. This review was modfied by poster @ 07-06-08 12:33 AM

Pros: Great UPS, my first one so far and it was a breeze to setup.

Cons: Uses ol' COM port, dead heavy, and gives loud beeps.

Pros: Affordable price, high capacity, not-bad looking
Comment:
I don't know much about UPS, and this is my first one. Not much to say as this is exactly what I expected, super heavy (could be heavier than your computer) and well, at least feels rock solid. The software is moderate, I've heard some other manufacturers makes better software. Nevertheless it works like any other device. So far the only downside of this UPS to me, is the COM port. My new desktop doesn't even have a COM port, but my laptop's docking station has one so I'm monitoring the UPS from my laptop. Also, I'm using Vista, and although the software included on the CD says NT/XP/2000/2003 it installed on Vista without problem.

Cons: none so far, dont forget to buy a serial to usb adaptor.

Pros: good price, above avg battery life
Comment:
I just bought this from nicx, charged it up and it works seamlessly with my Enermax Galaxy psu! I was thinking it might not after reading some topics on this ups that Enermax active PFC psu's do not like simulated sine waves but I do not know why Enermax's site says that.. it works fine. Great buy.

Cons: Not entirely the fault of the UPS, but the only way to connect this model to your computer is through the RS232 port, as there is no USB port. (Although the software installion instructions say to connect with one...) Have to purchase a USB to Serial adapter, so can't give input on the software until that shows up.

Pros: Works just as it should.Fits nicely on my desk beside my monitor shelf.
Comment:
Overall, for what you pay, this UPS gets the job done. If I wanted anything better I'd have to get a True Sine UPS, and those cost around 3 times as much as this unit, so I can't really complain about anything. It is a heavy unit, but there's no way around that, and so I don't view that as a fault of the product, but rather a fact of life.Only thing I'd change is adding a USB port in there somewhere, as many newer computers do not come with serial ports.

Cons: Monitoring software is windoze onlyMonitoring software has a rough UI which is clumsy to use at times

Pros: CheapLots of power throughput and big batteries!
Comment:
I like the product. It is a giant weight! The good:- The batteries are user replaceable, I just have no idea where I'd get one :P- It pumps plenty of energy, and I've performed many 'tests' by simply unplugging the UPS from the wall.- It logs all power outages and such.- For reference, I have 3 machines (athlon XP's, one dual processor - 4cpu total), 2 of which have high end gfx cards, and 2 x 17" lcds. All of this running under a standard non-gaming load uses 575W / 760 VA, and the unit reports a Load Level of 54%. Note one of the LCDs is plugged into a non-battery backed up plug (5 plugs total on the unit, 4 have battery backup, all 5 have AVR processing) and I have no clue if that is calculated in the 'load'. The actual W and VA numbers are read using a 'Kill-a-watt' meter which plugs between the wall and the UPS.- Has dials for most of the different readings. The Bad:- The Application is rough. The interface has not been polished very much, which makes it clumsy to use at times. Not a huge issue since I don't use it huge amounts.- The boost / buck feature doesn't keep the output voltage exactly at 120V. The incoming voltage actually needs to drop or spike a certain amount (I have not yet seen this happen) before it will supposedly do a 'large' step up or down on the outgoing voltage. This means that small Voltage fluctuations still go straight through. My house voltage seems to always sit around 117V, and according to the monitor, it is outputting 117V, not 120V.- Doesn't tell you all the readings it could, like actual Watts or VoltAmps being used. Conclusion:All in all, it's what I expected for the monies I put down. It provides battery backup for short term power outages, and gives me a chance to shutdown my machines during longer outages. Also, while I haven't really seen it do much power conditioning, it is a little nicer to know that *something* is there instead of the nothing that was there before.

I am so happy that I chose this brand. Before I tried two other brands (they almost costs twice as much as OPTI-UPS) and they sucked. I recommend OPTI-UPS to everyone who looks for quality at low price

Cons: too heavy to do RMA

Pros: Great pricing and battery replaceable
Comment:
The reason I purchased this UPS is because I need a UPS that can help to prevent voltage and frequency fluctuations and power cuts that might damage my electronics such as LCDTVs. This TS1700B provides 2 internal batteries with up to 45 minutes of backup time. However, due to the batteries, the unit is very heavy weighted. So when there is a need to do RMA, the shipping may cost a lot to ship to the manufacturer. OPTI-UPS offers up to 3-year limited warranty in the U.S. and it covers repair and they will ship back the unit. But I would say that it will be better to do a trade-up. It will not only gives a brand new unit but also another 3-year limited warranty.

Cons: No way to test the voltage capabilities.Very slight hum.

Pros: Probably not a useful appliance to most people unless you have aluminium wire or a badly cabled electrical system

Wicked UPS. This thing is a life saver. For the price it does a lot better than most powerbars that will only shutdown when the voltage is way too high

Pros: Great capacity
Comment:
I bought this to consolidate 2 smaller UPSes I had to power my workstation and server. So far it has been doing great. I don't like the software though... it seems like a 12 year old kid made it in 10 minutes, but any UPS software that isn't by APC is the same (very bad).
