Program is fantastic out of the box, performs well. -Technical Assistance for ASUS Servers is a Nightmare. Soon after adding a Second Processor and an additional 24GB of RAM, Motherboard fried. Known as ASUS eight occasions more than three days and with their telephone and technique troubles it was horrible. Finally right after three days and 18 calls, they finally got it collectively (I hope) and are sending a replacement Motherboard, and I guess I will have reconnect every thing. I won't be getting once more just mainly because they are as well substantially pain to even get a contact into. |

NewEgg suggested Essential memory kit CT3KIT51272BB1339 for this server but WARNING it is not compatible and the board will not POST with it installed. |

This is a sweet box. Sturdy construction, excellent airflow, and flexible. Running SBS2008 more than two 5620 CPUs, 24 GB RAM, 4 channel PIKE card and two SAS drives in a RAID 1 configuration for a quickly developing tiny enterprise. Fans can be throttled down for use in an workplace setting. ASUS help was extremely helpful with BIOS troubles (see below). A BIOS upgrade could be needed to function with 5600-class processors. Mine would not boot w/ the 5620s, so flashing the BIOS was not doable - I had to buy a new BIOS chip from ASUS. Newegg stepped up and reimbursed the cost of the new BIOS. No need to have to acquire CPU heat sinks as suggested by yet another reviewer, two are packed in the foam corners inside the box. |

I would initially like to say that ASUS has produced great products for years now. I purchased this barebone along with many other things and it was assembled flawlessly. The structure of this case is awesome. The front loading hot-swap is fantastic and operates just as described. I install SBS 2008 and it all booted up perfectly the initially time. At initially I believed that there was a difficulty simply because it took about 30sec for the situation to turn on. I didn't recognize that it initiated the drives ahead of it booted. Regardless, I really feel that this is a great item and i woudl surely recommend it to any individual! None that I have come across but. |

Incredibly good process. I did two 1T WD Blacks as Process drives in a RAID1, and will chase down the second drive chassis to load the machine with 2T drives for the information volume. Installed SBS 2008 STD devoid of a hitch. The expandability is wonderful. I only utilised one particular CPU slot and half the memory slots, and nevertheless have an awesome machine that can support an office of 15 folks making use of every single bit of SBS.The BIOS RAID works wonderful. I didn't touch the Windows RAID software or the Intel software. Only two USB ports in the back. If you have a UPS information cable on a single port, you'll see a wireless Mouse/KB pod or use the old PS2 style devices. Machine does take up to 30 seconds to energy on for the first time. Don't panic, nothing at all is incorrect. I will be utilizing these in my SBS2008 installs as long as ASUS keeps producing them. |

Good sturdy box. Very expandable. Running 12GB ram and 2 CPUs I did take the assistance of an additional reviewer and bought the Intel CPU fan/heat-sync and identified the method comes with two knock-offs and if you took off the Intel logo, you would not notice a difference. However, use superior CPU heat-sync thermal paste/compound that comes with the Intel cooler or the OEM cooler. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007 I do wish Newegg would list and have all the add-ons to expand the program: hot-swap cage and fans. |

Good machine, well laid out, a lot of space inside, documentation is ok. No bios update needed for the E5506 processor. Its also on the VMWare ESXi 4.1 HCL. I especially like the integrated IP KVM function. Software program raid only. No mention in the manual of how to get past or disable the intrusion detection (hold down CTRL as the system POSTs to bypass intrusion detection). Onboard raid is software based which you cannot use with ESXi four.1 (it will enable you to use the attached drives separately even so). I did obtain an Intel RS2WC040 raid card to make up for this. 1. Expands to 48 GB, DDR3 ECC Memory2. Can run the Xeon E5620s3. Faster than any HP Full systems I have used4. 4 SATA Drives and fantastic RAID capabilityfive. 2x1 GB Intel 82574L NICs 1. BIOS chip had to be shipped to me to support the Xeon Processortwo. 4 Drives in a Hot Plugs (Hot Plug cages for your drives are included) but as soon as you use these you can not genuinely add a lot more. I removed the DVD and produced a Mirror for two much more drives, wish this could hold a lot more drives! |

Excellent server for the dollars. Runs ESXi as a "supported" platform which includes PCI pass-by means of. Runs cool with a single CPU. Supported the E5620 Xeon with no BIOS updates essential. No obvious ones so far. Solid construction, excellent air flow. Very good documentation.My setup: Xeon E5504 (Quad Core 2ghz), 3x 4gb Wintec ECC, 4x WD Caviar Black 32mb cache in RAID ten. Don't make the mistake I did, I got a fan that sounded right, but this motherboard requires a fan that makes use of SCREWS-- Get this one:Intel BXSTS100A Active heat sink with fixed fan. I want they had put a DVD burner as an alternative of a reader. It is a noisey, heavy beast, but that is fine in a server area, and it seems like the cooling would be excellent. A larger power supply would have been nice, but this looks fairly excellent so far. I am working with it as a terminal server, it looks to be quite speedy so far.
