Cons: Viewing anglesSofware
Pros: Notifications workWifi works Comment:
The software has lots of be desired but it works fine for me. I can access the camera remotely as well as receive email notifications. It doesn't record video so you can only store snapshots. The viewing angle is quite narrow so you can't cover a very large area. Wifi works for me. Mjpeg uses a lot of bandwidth. Hard to find email service for sending the images without it being marked as spam. |

Cons: - Wireless is hard to set up- Included software is a piece of s***
Pros: Cheap - bought it when it was on sale for $50 Comment:
I have a D-Link 920 for couple of years, it is not the best thing and does not have wireless N; but at least it works. The reason I bought this Trendnet one is because of the wireless N and it can save files in a more common format than the D-Link 920.To my surprise, this Trendnet model works fine in wired setup; but it simply would not connect wirelessly using the software that comes with it. It is a piece of s***.Since I missed the window to return it. I searched the net and found a share/free ware and it makes it bit easier to connect wirelessly - using the same WAP2 setup; works but still not that great.May be just my luck. Good luck to those who are going to buy; already have bought. But I should have listened to those who wrote their reviews in newegg feedback.EDIT: I have created this on Feb 9, but on Feb 12, the review is still hidden. Could it be because I give it a 2-star rating "It works, but Would NOT Purchase Again" ??? Cons: WPA2 accepts alphanumeric characters onlyNot enough space for other tripodsCompletely blind at night even with street lights
Pros: AffordableReliable wirelessGood daylight and indoor video quality Comment:
It took me quite a while getting this camera working as expected and I can confirm that WPA2, NTP and motion detection all work just fine. However, I have located the reasons that many had problem setting them up. For NTP updates to sync correctly, the "Network" setting must be set correctly. WPA2 accepts alphanumeric characters only, not the full set of printable ASCII characters that most WPA2 devices accept. I believe this is the reason that most people claimed WPA2 did not work. Motion detection is reliable but each area (2 total) should be just big enough to cover the required area, then fine tune the threshold for best accuracy. The supplied SecurView software is lacking but the camera works well with the Surveillance Station of the QNAP TS-212 NAS (which is more buggy than I like but managed to get it works anyway), just choose "iPUX ICS 1003/1030" from the Camera Model menu. Would love to get the 121WN for night vision but then I bought this for less than $60. No complaint. |
bought it on sale for $54, pretty good deal for security camera. It took me 2 hours to get it to show images then more hours to fine tune. The software is not very intuitive but it works after a lot of tinkering. Motion detect works but only sends jpg over wireless.
