I wasn't necessarily out for the cheapest, but the most comfortable to use. I have to exchange several HD's several times in the course of a session. This unit makes this easy by locking the cover with thumbscrews. I am using 5 drives. Styling is not the best but then it's a tool. Technically I had no problem with it. It works just like any other plug&play. |

I put my old hard drive in it, connected it to my computer, plugged it in, and within a minute or so, there was smoke coming out of it. I opened it up to find that my hard drive was on fire. It was easy to put out but needless to say, I've had no luck getting it to actually work. That's what I get for buying the cheapest one I could find, I guess. |

I had no problems using this drive with several old IDE hard drives I had laying around. Once I picked the drive I wanted to use it was easy to connect and put back together. I like the fact that it has a separate power switch. The only negative is that the fan is a little loud. |

Plenty of ventilation holes and aluminum surfaces for heat sinks. Love the bottom mounting in lieu of disk side screws. Runs cool ALL the time. SATA & IDE connector allow for older drives or new ones. Tool-free installation. Went back and boought 2 more. |

I was disappointed but since I did not pay much, I guess I shouldn't have expected much. The power card comes out all the time, and you have to switch it off and it is simply a metal shell with screws, Was disapointed. If you don't expect much, this is the case for you. |

Easily assembled enclosure. It is a very solid design. The IDE cable is a little tight to maneuver but manageable. Both the power cable and IDE cable were a tight fit with regards to plugging into the HD. Plug-n-play without an issue using XP. The powersupply seems a little cheap in construction and I would not recommend leaving it plugged in for extended periods of time. (Hence the 4 rating on quality) |

I read all the reviews for all the enclosures. This had the best rating. Assembled in less than a minute, stays cool, does what I got it for. Cheaper than a new external drive and Windows 7 recognized it as soon as I powered it up. Recommend. |

Very simple and easy to use housing. Using it with my dvr. Runs cool, and has an on off switch for when I'm not using it. I did stick some rubber feet on it to keep from scratching things. |

I have 2 hard drives both with windows 98 as their operating system that quit working 2 years ago. With the harddrive enclosure I was able to retrieve all the files on them. Some were of my daughter's wedding which I really didn't want to lose. Great product at a great price and very simple to use!! |

I had some misgivings at first because I was trying to access an old drive with XP installed on it. But my concerns were banished when I plugged it into a USB port and the old drive came right up. Glad I got it, and definitely worth the money |

It does what it is supposed to do, although, in my opinion, it is cheaply constructed. Be VERY careful changing out drives, and you should be ok. |

Ordered 2 day from Tiger - got it in one! Had IDE/ATA HD from 2004 PC that finally kicked it. Got this, pulled out of box - came with all cables and a little screwdriver (which wasn't needed). Also had driver CD I did not need. Stuck old HD in the case plugged into new Vista laptop - recognized it instantly and added it a g drive! Took all of about 10 minutes - wonderful! |

The enclosure did exactly what I neded it to do. I saved all of my info and pictures from my old hard drive and I am now using it as a backup drive. Worked great! |

Just purchased this item . I liked the idea of both an sata and IDE connection. That seems to be hard to find. Very easy to install the HD. Quick assembly, sturdy connections, I do wish it had the switch on the opposite end as the power and usb connection. I used this to recover data on a drive I could not get to boot from windows when installed in my desktop. Worked like a charm. Solidly built. No frills. Very sturdy. I might purchase another one just to have it around. Don't forget to turn off the power switch though. Don't understand why others have a problem, Most likely not from this device just their own systems. Tiger shipping amazing as always. UPS did not drop off on the first shipment, so it took an extra day to get. |

I have had this for 5 days now. Not a single problem. I wasn't sure if my trouble with an older enclosure was the enclosure, or the drive in it. It was the old enclosure. The drive works wonderfully now. This is quiet, hot swap, I use it on Windows XP & Vista just fine. I recommend it to anyone who knows what are doing. In my opinion the problems listed by others, must be the fault of the person involved. |

I had this for 5 months with a 500gb seagate ide. I've had no problems with this enclosure. Maybe you guys that had no luck need to take a course on how to use the enclosure. Nothing but good things with it... |

Me and my dad bought two of these (silver and black editions), both worked poorly from the beginning, and each ''ate'' a drive. We lost a 160 gig ide with all my work on it, and a 400 gig sata. Data recovery was $450. I do not recommend this piece of crap... even though it's very cheap. |
It was a good purchase and was easy to work with and install a hard drive in. Worth the money, in my opinion.
