Looks COOL and feels cool also. Slim and slick, high top quality case (all aluminum) HD fits snug inside and attached to a mounting face plate with two tapped scews. Than this sub-assembly nicely slides inside the case and - 2 a lot more tiny screws comprehensive the whole job.Quite nice selection of cablesI had no difficulties connecting the unit wia USB. One Y-cable was adequate to supply power(short hand) and information (long hand) All this stuff doesn't take a space in any pc bag. I bought this enclosure key to use eSATA connection (in junction with eSATA express card with my ASUS F8Sn laptop and I was incredibly disappointed.I began the eSATA connection trial first, just before USB.Direct eSATA cable didn't present power to a drive, so I have connected USB energy cable (that a single with round power jack) and... yes, nothing at all has happened. It took from me a little bit of consideration to reconnect unit wia USB, format HD and onle soon after that I have managed to revive eSATA connection. To say the whole truth, eSATA about 1.three occasions more quickly than USB, but it is so clumsy... I'm nevertheless thinking why I can't boot computer system from eSATA even though I can boot it from USB or from built-in media card reader.

This is a nice aluminum (not plastic) enclosure. It's small (don't expect the similar shock absorption of a WD or Seagate externals) with each USB 2. and eSATA connectors, as properly as a power plug. If a single USB port is unable to provide power, a USB-to-power cable is included. It also supply securing the HD to the board making use of 2 screws via the bottom component of the HS (no other ext. enclosure I owned had it), plus a spare screw of each and every form (secure HD, secure board to enclosure). A bracket to convert an internal SATA to an eSATA is incorporated collectively with a nice eSATA cable. None The supplied cables and the construction are much much better than any prior ext. enclosure I owned (over 8 of them from a variety of brands).

Price;Small, easly portible; I was supprised with all the exta cables USB Y cable, eSata to USB, USB to power. Even come with a eSATA Expansion Slot adapter to commect to an onboard SATA conector. HD was easly installed with four screws and even had a screwdriver. Can't assume of any other than the bag is not very rugged. I can uncover a thing else for that. Slap a HD in it. Plug into USB and go. Can install the eSata adapter in a blank expansion slot on your desktop. Connect the cable to a spare SATA connector. Plug the eSATA cable in and probably get far better transfer rates. You will have to use the USB Power adapter cable. I bought this for my granddaughter laptop Appears like I am going to have to purchase one particular for me.

SATA and USB. Low-cost and good looking. Calls for much more energy to run then a regular USB port can present. Purchased a 160 gig really hard drive for it and the drive would not start out up. The notorious click of death, stating the the hard drive was powering up but couldn't get it self situated.Maybe I just got a dud, but regardless,my undesirable practical experience and waste of time = poor score for this product. I attempted other tough drives in the case and no go. Used the really hard drive I bought for the case, formatted it and attempted once again, no go. Tried utilizing yet another spare case utilizing the formatted hard drive and it works fine. My 2 cents: case makes use of additional then the 500 mA due to the SATA port.

Appears Really nice.Little and low profile -- a bit thinner than a lot of of the other folks.Appears to actually do a far better job of absorbing heat from the harddrive than most (most enclosures don't speak to extremely well with the harddrive so don't absorb as significantly -- essentially defeating the point of working with aluminum in some. This 1 isn't best, but it's a lot better than my previous one particular and far much more than enough for the extremely simple needs of a typical notebook drive. I almost certainly wouldn't advocate putting that 10,000 RPM drive in here though...)Good glossy black finish. The eSATA is a nice plus!Comes with an eSATA connector for the back of the Pc as properly as a cable (incorrectly labeled in the picture as getting a Firewire cable) so you won't have to spend a ripoff value to purchase 1.Doesn't require you to give up an arm and a leg to spend off a loan shark. d-: May possibly be a bit slippery with that finish. If you're careless you may want to be additional careful not to drop a drive with this. Not actually a dilemma typically though.eSATA cable is only about some 3 feet or so extended (I've seen up to six.)A little bit slower than usual by way of USB 2.. I'm speaking about about some 140Mbps ྱ.5KBps) versus about 200Mbps ྐྵKBps) for a seriously good USB 2. enclosure. (I'm speaking about for a sustained extended transfer -- USB 2. could guarantee 480Mbps, but that's only for a split second burst. Long sustained transfers will have a tendency to max out around some 200Mbps or so.)No Firewire connection. I wanted to get one with USB and Firewire, but when I saw the eSATA I decided that it would be worth providing up Firewire assistance just for that. General I'd say that this one is fairly challenging to beat. What handful of things I could even feel up for cons were minor things. For instance, the speed is nevertheless incredibly adequate for me to make some incredibly huge transfers with out beginning to really feel impatient even though waiting. 140 versus 200 is definitely not a major loss and actually even quite a few of the greater enclosures won't truly be able to totally max out that 200. (This is component of why I like Firewire due to the fact, while it too can't provide the complete 400Mbps it says, it tends to keep a larger number with sustained transfers.)Sorry, I haven't had a likelihood to test the eSATA yet (my Computer sits on the floor numerous feet away, so even a six foot cord would not be long sufficient and honestly I haven't gotten around to installing the bracket yet.) I do feel relatively confident that it ought to be hard to mess up due to the fact it mostly just passes the connection right to the drive nearly.

Very slim and sturdy. Ports are in there good and tight.Fits my 80gb two.five" hdd in there completely. Isn't able to promptly swap out hdds. has two screws, created to be additional of a permanent enclosure for your tough drive. (not a con for me even though) Worked properly with my vista laptop and my xp desktop.Laptop essential the dual usb (one for information and a single for energy)Whilst the desktop essential only one particular usb.Nice carrying case, also black.

Its uncomplicated to assemble,, performs and handles being dropped once or twice. Its USB2. Interface is really slow. I haven't attempted the Esata interface, but with two unique drives the transfer to/from the drive is slower then transferring over the Wifi 齢.11G) to another machine. Maybe this is a function of possessing each Esata and Usb2. but this is by far the slowest USB to sata adapter I have ever employed.

Great Appear, eSATA, a lot of cables. Aluminum enclosure assists maintain hard drive cool. None yet I looked at anything NewEgg had to supply hunting for a case for my old 160GB SATA laptop challenging drive that looked decent and worked effectively. I'm pleasantly surprised. This thing very little, has a good finish and the create high quality is very nice. It consists of a Y USB cable and a separate USB energy cable so in theory you could plug into 3 USB ports for energy, but on my Dell Latitude D620, I only want a singe USB port to energy the hard drive. I have employed a Toshiba 80gig, Western Digital 160gig and a new Samsung 320gig 2.five" tough drive with only a single USB port. Your millage may vary with other pc brands and models in terms of energy. I did take a label and cover the energy and esata ports just to preserve dust out because I'm only working with the USB port. I'm going to get another 1 just to have on hand. It's worth the further couple of bucks for this more than the bargain cases.

This is the best portable tricky drive case I have ever applied. It does not get that hot and it looks and feels wonderful. It has capabilities that other do not have like extra screws, power to USB cable, eSata bracket, IEEE 1394 cable, USB y-cable and a mini screwdriver. The ends are plastic but that is not a unfavorable. Not for rapid opening and closing. Only use it for storage. When screwing in the screws be careful. You will be screwing into plastic. I will be buying yet another a single of these to just preserve about simply because they are so handy and laptop challenging drives costs are dropping so rapid . They make good storage drives enclosures. Also the carrying case is a nice plus.

Basic, cheap eSata/USB resolution.Functions with my JMB360-based eSata Expresscard34 and MacBook Pro Ɠ,1) with Leopard and my Hackintosh Dell Optiplex 760 in XP and Snow Leopard. USB power cable is great, but I'd also like to see an alternative such as a small "wall wart" power adapter. I had complications with this and the enclosure shipped with my Kingston SSDNow unit playing nicely with my Western Digital WD3200BEVT. This drive worked fine inside my MacBook Pro and a three.five" wall-powered USB enclosure. A Hitachi 120GB drive worked perfectly in this and the Kingston enclosure. I researched this on Western Digital's web site and identified that there is a setting for spinning the drive up under lower power (RPS, Decreased Power Spinup). I set this making use of a micro-jumper and everything operates perfectly. If your drive has this option (and I'm guessing that most do), strongly suggest trying it if you have any concerns.

One particular of the few kits with the double USB plug, separte power power plug (if needed) and the Esata adapter for the desktops for a really low value. regardless of what the description says you can connect any size drive to it. I have the Samsung 320Gb difficult drive installed and no difficulties. the drive plugs into my 1 USB port on my notebook and runs with no troubles at all. The folks thought everything out. If your notebook can't work with one particular plug then plug the second usb plug in, or if your notebook is like mine the other usb port is on the other side of the notebook so you have to use the separate power plug anyhow. Definite steal for the price tag. Case is quite nice and cones with a pouch for the drive and cables. none really. Everything came with it.

Works as expected. Single USB cable manages to energy my 120gb 5400rpm drive. Haven't tested speeds, as it wasn't overly essential as it only acts as a backup drive from time to time. Is supplied with TONS of extra stuff, including the following : eSata Cable, extra screws, energy to USB cable, mini screwdriver, detailed directions. Very satisfied. Wish it didn't have the huge "MASSCOOL" writing on the leading of the case. Not a speedy release case, as it has two itty bitty crews on the sides. If thats not a difficulty for you, this case is wonderful.

Looked goodSeemed like it was properly put togetherWorked fine for USB eSata would not work simply because it didn't come with a correct USB power cable. I tried the one that came with the unit. I also attempted working with the manufacturer and they sent me a power cable. It nonetheless wouldn't work.Note: This also did not come with the sata/e-sata bracket that was in the picture. Get some thing else until they get the power cable problem worked out.

Little, good-seeking, incredibly easy to install, quickly transfer rates in USB 2. or eSATA. The only issue I've had is that often Vista x64 thinks the drive is write-protected, so I just unplug the drive, then plug it in again and all is nicely.

Nice paint job. USB seems pretty quick. eSATA connections are useless if your challenging drive demands far more than 500 mA of current. Since the supplied USB power cable (USB to barrel plug) is only single-headed, the drive only gets 500 mA of present. If you try to use the "power" USB connector (the thinner of the two wires) on the double-headed USB to USB cable, you will find out that plugging in the power connector (a barrel plug) disables the power coming from the USB port.I haven't attempted working with the double-headed USB cable AND the eSATA connection at the exact same time. This sounds a small scary. The simple dilemma is NO documentation is included certain to eSATA hookups and their technical support can't clarify how to power the drive either. Masscool's technical support was really unsatisfactory. No documentation is included that talks about eSATA or powering the drive. The CD and their web site had absolutely nothing either.

I purchased this mainly because I upgraded to a 200gb hdd for my playstation 3 I took my old 40 placed it in this here enclosure and formatted right back to fat32. I was in a position to copy it appropriate back to the hdd with no issue. Also, get this I connect it to my laptop (NTFS) copy the files over to it as if it was a flash drive. Take it to my playstation three and copy pics, videos and The greatest... VLC player. FYI. you have to have yellow dog linux installed on your ps3 to have vlc player. slight vibration and the travel bag is not extremely great at all compared to the leather other people gives. Most of you are looking at this due to the fact of the forums and I say this is the greatest buy for looks, durabililty and plug n play.

Inexpensive. Compact. USB and eSATA. Consists of eSATA bracket and double-USB-port cable. Doesn't function with all PC/drive combinations. Power jack is weird polarity and won't work with included power cable. I had the exact same challenge as an additional reviewer where the power jack is the wrong polarity for the included cable. The jack is strange (positive collar, negative pin). I thought I'd rewire it, but the pc-mount jack has a lot of solder points. Also, it wouldn't spin up attached to some computers even with both USB cords attached, and I think it was my option of 2.five" drive causing that. I got yet another enclosure elsewhere with standard polarity, and use a USB hub power supply when the factor needs additional power. Bus powered does not live up to the hype.

Ran with a SSD (Gskill Phoenix FM-25S2S-120GB) and it had the performance I expected (topping at around 250MB/sec Write and 270MB/sec read).Comes with all the accessories you require: USB, eSata, and USB Power plug. Screws on the interface to slide out and put the drive in are really tiny! Way too smaller and effortless to lose! Positive likes to get fingerprints on it...

Good style. Straightforward to install the drive. Supports 320GB 7200 RPM drive. eSATA quickly ࿜ MB/s copy in between two enclosures) on my laptop employing a 1.5Mbps SATA card. For eSATA connectivity, the enclosure is powered by a power cable from a USB slot on your laptop or computer. The problem is that the cable MASSCOOL shipped to me in 8 of the 10 enclosures I ordered had the polarity reversed. It was the incorrect cable. Consequently, the two difficult drives and enclosures that I connected employing the wrong cables burned out the hard drives and the enclosures. The one pair that was shipped with the proper cables works fine.I am working with MASSCOOL directly to get the replacement cables and replacement difficult drives and enclosures sent to me but it's going really slow. The organization I deal with is named Fanner Tech corp. They acknowledged the challenge and mentioned they will ship me new cables - this was three weeks ago! So I'm sitting with a lot of useless stuff.Beware when ordering these enclosures. Test the polarity Ahead of connecting it. It should be negative inside and positive on the outside (where it plugs into the enclosure) otherwise it WILL destroy your equipment.
