The box was a complete package including the thermal grease. Although the pegs are made of plastic, they seem to be strong enough to anchor the unit yet flexible enough for easy install. This unit replaced the dead OEM fan I had on my IntelE2200 machine.

Have had this fan cooling a 2.2 Dualcore, for 13months, works perfect. no problems, very quiet. It was a little work putting it on, but if you been working on computers a while, this was not a big deal. I would recommend for low to mid use computers. Great price!

I've used socket 478 version of this. You'de only buy this because 'most any other is too tall 4 your slim case, and you don't have twenty five more for all-copper twin. More heat-transfer surface here than Intel Retail Boxed CPU's slotted aluminum block.

I am realitively happy with this cooling fan. It works great and is much quieter than my last one, but it was hard to install. There are no screws attaching it to the motherboard; rather just some plastic pegs. I am constently worried that the fan is going to fall off because it didn't screw on, but so far so good.

I purchased this fan for my first cpu build and it looks and works amazing, keeps my cpu cool about 20 degrees C along with my other 3 fans in my tower. Only thing I didnt care for was the plastic mounts, but for the price, they work well to secure the to the mobo. Overall great product and price

I had problems installing the base as well. thought I was going to bust the mobo with the force I had to use to seat the things, and very little instruction included. other than that, keeps the cpu running around 120'.

Fan works great but the amount of force needed to seat the pins is quite scary. No other problems with this fan noise levels are good.

Fan works well, the problem was with the installation. Not much room to get these fingers in there. I was concerned for my mobo with the pressure I had to apply.

The installation of this cooler is the only problem I had. It works on putting severe stress on the mobo on both sides of the CPU. The problem is, that the stress affects the thumbs, fingers or whatever you can TRY to squeeze into the small space between the cooler and the sides of the case. In the meantime all these tries and re-tries could well act adversely on the CPU chip right below. When I finally got it clipped down, I found the CPU wasn't seated well under the cooler. Now how do you get the damn thing apart? While attempting this, the CPU suddenly snapped into place. Fortunately the CPU still worked and everything is OK. The design needs to be changed for the assembly of this cooler. Otherwise it's great!!

Received this fan as part of a bundle deal. That was the most tricky part to install. Don't forget to install the clamps side ways and use heath gel to ensure heath conductivity between the CPU and the fan. It is large and with the cone shape air flow duck ensure a good ventilation. A bit noisy (like most common fans) but dows it job.

Installation was very difficult as after installing the frame, I had to remove it because the fan had interference on one side with cables. As a designer, the ratings I offered are for a really poor effort.

This fan is excellent. It was very easy to install. It was exactly what I want: and then some. My only problem with the fan wasdue to operator's error. I accidentally alowed a free PSU cable come in contact with the spining blade while servicing the computer. My bad! As a result, I had to use the fan that came with the processor. I only had for 3 days but during those 3 day, I was impressed with its performance. I'm planning to purchase another one.

For the price, you can hardly go wrong because the fan WORKS! It keeps my 775 socket processor cool. Mounting this fan however was a bit of a PITA!!! The instructions need to be improved, and the mounting needs to improved. I had to push harder than I felt should have been necessary to engage the holes in the MB. Design engineering, do a better job.

The fan operates as described, but gave me fits to get in properly. I would say its a pretty innovative design, but the instruction manual lacked a bit. They really needed to EMPHASIZE the fact that if you do not pull both tabs on at once to ensure a level and plumb installation, you will be putting uneven pressure on your CPU, which is not a good thing. I had a few BSOD's on start up until I realized I had the fan installed poorly. Loose nut behind the wheel was the real issue, but some more intuitive instructions would have helped. Also, the mounting hardware does not appear trustworthy, though I have yet to have it fail. You get what you pay for, if you are mechanically inclined, with nimble fingers, not arthritic sausages like me, go for it, its working good, but install was tough.

I bought it because the price was right, but found out that the plastic push down screws that comes with it doesn't work with my mobo. Buy this if you like pushdown screws, otherwise it would've been a great buy.

The mounts on this thing are horrible, it requires you to use a little more force then you'd want to het it installed. Plus I must have spent 20 minutes trying to get the fan attached to mount. I wouldnt buy this again, I know there are easier to install fans with better performance out there. Look else where.

I purchased this fan for a new build computer. It was difficult to get the clamps installed to the mount. You have to keep it completely flat to the cpu covered with the thermal grease. There is no place to apply even pressure except for the center of the fan blade. Once it finally was installed it didn't work. Bad design but economical. I replaced the plan with a better fan that was slightly more expensive.

The frame is easy to install. Comes with generous amount of heat sink paste. Very Quiet. Keeps my CPU cooler than the standard Intel 775 Fan.

Very easy to install, sync is a little big, if the socket is close to the power supply it might not fit. Can easily do overclocking.

I've had this fan for about 8 months with a dual core. It keeps the temp between 24 to 30 C. It worked great, and quietly, right until the clear plastic expansion pins that hold it into the motherboard broke and the fan fell down in the case to sit on the video card. Luckily I heard a strange clicking noise and checked inside the case. I fixed it by drilling out the crappy pins and replacing with small bolts, but I must urge everyone to avoid all CPU coolers that are not screwed or bolted to the motherboard.

Product Features

Ultra X-Wind High Performance CPU Cooler
As computer processors become more and more powerful, they typically generate more heat. Accordingly, air cooling solutions for processors tend to be large, heavy and loud. Ultra's X-Wind CPU coolers offer a balance of performance and price without being excessively loud or cumbersome. Because the X-Wind has several fins (as many as 120!), there is more surface area than a typical machined heatsink, so heat is effectively pulled away from the CPU and quickly dissipated. X-Wind's design allows for the use of a larger, quieter fan to push air in between the many fins. If you're disappointed with the noise from your current CPU cooler, fed up with higher temperatures or concerned that your behemoth two pound heatsink is going to damage your motherboard or processor, Ultra has your solution!
