* Worked as advertised * Not the finest top quality solution Just what I necessary. Capable to save the files from a difficult drive that would no longer boot up. Worked like a charm.

It worked for a couple of (very handful of) months. The power supply stopped operating soon after about 50 hours of use. (I tried it with two distinct drives, both of which work when powered by the motherboard.) I was employing it on IDE DVD drives. I under no circumstances tried it with a challenging drive.

Simple resolution, no drivers needed. Just plug it in and it mounts the tough drive with a drive letter. None so far. I was afraid this wouldn't work in Vista, but it performs fantastic! It didn't "detect hardware" or prompt me to set up any drivers, it just shows up with a drive letter along with my 2 internal really hard drives.

this is for all the OSX / mac reviewers giving this a 1. the solution description does not say is supports osx. it says it supports osx Below windows. so if you are running osx via windows some how, it will perform. if you cant make this function, its either broken or operator error.we just purchased a couple of of these through dell and they are awesome. not available on newegg correct now

Boots with quite a few motherboards, which includes the laptop motherboard i purchased it for, a g*****y m520, even shows on the POST screen, and i am working with it with a DVD burner. power supplies hefty, 2 amps on each rail, a lot of juice, AND as opposed to in the photos , it operates with Both desktop and laptop HDD's, not laptop optical drives although, havnt located something that does, which is why i purchased this. no on off switch on the power brick, so i have to unplug it to turn off the drive. its uncomplicated to confuse up and down if you dont look closely for the lil notch that indicates which way the laptop HDD's go. cords a tad short, however, it nevertheless meets my specifications, so NONE of these factors have affected me. i have swapped in between the spare DVD burner i have, to a laptop hard drive, and back more than a dozen times in the first day i owned it. no flaws, operates fine, lil slow with USB 1.1 on this rig as anticipated, but, its not the converters fault, its the fault of this out dated machine. Acquire THIS ADAPTOR! its inexpensive, it does each laptop and desktop drives (not laptop optical drives as they use a JAE 50 pin, and theres Practically nothing that i have located that will perform with them).

Inexpensive.Simple.Operates. It isn't all in one particular stream lined cable the magically hooks itself up. It also has a connecter for a 2.five" (pata laptop) drive. Just believed I'd throw that out there.

None Does not perform, at all, whatsoever, no how, no way. Complete piece of junk. Attempted it on many diverse HDs, and diverse computer systems. Followed the directions specifically, no fantastic. From reading the other testimonials, it seems like its hit or miss, either yours performs or it doesn't. Save your funds.

Compact and easy to use. Worked flawlessly when I utilized it to install XP Pro on my eeePC 900A. The construct leaves a small to be preferred. It screams "cheap", but, nevertheless functions just as it's supposed to. I'll be using to install an OS on my image server, considering that I don't have an optical drive mounted internally on that.

The only pro to this is that i could transfer my stuff from my Challenging Drive to my Laptop. Effectively it transfered alright but i had 96 gbs of stuff to transfer and it took me almost a week to transfer it trigger it was so slow. I was fortunate to break 900kbps at a time. I will under no circumstances ever acquire this item again. It says it 2. which is a lie and if i wanted slow goods I would have by no means upgraded to a new laptop with all the trimmings.

They make fast and simple connections to PATA drives. none I use 4 of these in my CPU to allow a total of six PATA tough drives in my method..... I have effectively over 1.5TB in my CPU. I produced it so that I can switch them on and off at will (as needed). The manufacturers will need to come out with a single that will switch on and off with a toggle switch and a relay.

Install is a snap. Transfer rate is decent. I was pleasantly shocked by the construction (see cons). The cables are too quick. The only top quality challenge is that the energy cord fits loosely into the transformer block. I just replaced it with a longer 1 of my own. Make positive you plug in this order for three.5" drivesɅ. Set the jumper to master.two. Plug in the IDE connection.3. Plug in the molex power.four. Plug in the USB.Note that the IDE connector doesn't take up the whole width of the plug, so it is doable to miss a row of pins if you aren't paying focus. I did this and got weird errors.

plug and Play, very straightforward. When employing the supplied power cord it creates a bar of wavy lines on my near by tv screen. This wasn't a key difficulty simply because i plugged it in to a molex connector on a PSU. Overall excellent product. Power cord isn't so excellent.

Operates good with the right hard drive. none Not all tough drives will perform with this. It's not the fault of the converter even though. It tells you to make sure the drive is set to master, some older drives can\'t be set, their cable choose by default with no jumpers. I had a damaged drive that couldn't be read. I was capable to use this cable and partition magic to partition the drive and only the partition with negative sectors can\'t be read, the other partitions work great.

well performs on a motherboard and as an external sort tough drive connection. wont perform with osx flimsy cheap and lightweight virtually like a novelty. the cord from usb to ide is short like five inches brief. wont set up mac osx on my netbook. installs windows 7 tho but wat doesnt. the manual blows doesnt tell you the energy plug that comes with it is for your ide device your powering. doesnt even look like it ought to even be powered it looks that low-cost. conserve yur $ and buy a flash drive or another remedy period you will thank me. I mainly purchased this for an mac osx installation on my a single netbook. I have been acquiring and developing products for over 7 years so yeah i know what im speaking about.

Functions rapid straight out of the box. No drivers needed for XP as stated. The new revision is double sided and has a ide for two.five notebook tough drives. I am making use of this like mad! I am employing this with an external dvd burner to make backups discs on close friends computers so far this has worked flawlessly. The manual is a real engRish laugh. ;o) Not really a con but it is a funny read. I believe that if you are an enthusiast you will need this thing. Everyone needs a single of these sooner of later you will use it for something.
