Bought for Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. Old difficult drive was a 40 gb 4200 rpm toshiba that was receiving quite slow. The WD tough drive was installed right now. This and two gb memory that was installed a couple of days ago have both drastically improved the speed and overall performance of the laptop. None so far.

Too negative the recovery of the information on the old drive expense me 10x the cost of this drive. Generally BACKUP on one more type of media or spend the cost like I did. *sad face*

Rapid, spacious, Uncomplicated to install (took longer to extract from the bubble wrap then to put in). Runs hot, died in two months Nicely ordered my drive from NewEgg immediately after reading largely constructive reviews, it shipped quickly, I cloned my old 30 gig to it, installed Ubuntu 9.ten on the second half of this enormous (for such an old notebook) drive and for over a month it's chugged proper along under no circumstances providing a seconds worth of trouble, and I could add really swift compared to the old drive but it does get a tiny warm (Ubuntu reports 124 degrees F) but WD diags show that anything is in spec. Today I go to lunch, come back to discover the laptop locked up, upon rebooting I hear the click of death. Pop my WD Diags CD in and run the Entended Wise test and it fails, try the Swift test and it fails.... possibly just a fluke, it hasn't been hit difficult or dropped or something else and undoubtedly hasn't been abused...luckilly WD is warrantying it with no troubles. It's less than two months old :(

Plugged it in and it was prepared to go. Reloaded XP Pro and my applications. I only expected a new trustworthy drive but to my surprise my Dell D610 took on a new life. Functionality is extremely noticably improved. Have not identified any but. I usually get subsequent day delivery from NewEgg if I order ahead of noon. I ordered on Saturday and had to wait till Tuesday. Have had superb service from Newegg year soon after year.

value at time. seems fairly solid. incredibly loud during spin up. specially during boot. Would like it to be quieter than it is during boot up. seems to only last a couple of seconds but incredibly annoying. may just be an concern with toshiba laptops? drive it replaced was also relatively loud and slight grinding noise, I chose to replace prior to crash primarily based on the noise. three eggs because I am unsure if noises are drives fault.
