The drives are extremely basic and is at a fantastic value point for white box develop outs in a corporate environment. Of every single ten drives we order, 4 of them look to be bad. We have noticed newegg.com packaging these quite loosely and causing great drives to be broken by the time it arrives at our corporate workplace. Some of my techs have noticed that even bubble wrap has been omitted, or static bags are opened or resealed. This is certainly unacceptable and we'll be taking our small business elsewhere quickly.I can't fault western digital for this one, specifically considering that all of the failed drives have the precise very same issue. Just RMA'd three drives to newegg, and they only let me RMA 2 mainly because "serials didn't match to order number". OK. I'm a corporate buyer. I have Numerous PO's. Considering that newegg.com has no way of tracking the serial numbers to the order numbers, or to the PO's we send them there is no way to inform if they are suitable or wrong. every thing Western Digital claims is accurate!stays around 30 C to 42 C with no fan on it. none I like the SATA cables and will not miss the IDE ones. |

Low cost and easily replaceable. The business I do desktop help for gets Lenovo PCs that use these drives. Out of each and every 20 PCs I can safely say half of these drives fail within 6 months time. We are continually replacing these under warranty.The trigger of failure is unknown, but out of the blue the laptop will stop booting. Further investigation reveals the drive is no longer detected by the machine, however nevertheless has power. This points to a SATA failure in the drive itself. As extended as you're lucky and get a good drive these genuinely aren't negative. If you plan to get them, get in bulk and be ready to RMA half of them just before a single year. |

Functions well, very good Win Exp scoreValue Comes Unformatted/Unpartitioned Ordered for new homebuilt. Bios right away recognized the drive, Windows 7 Installer would not see it. Had to use Linux tool to partition and format, then Win 7 64 bit lastly picked it up. Moral: It's actually, actually a bare drive. Make sure your partition and format are appropriate by bootable cd prior to attempting to install windows. |

Works effectively, just like I'd expect from WD and the cost is decent. none. I ordered 94 of these for builds my dept. was undertaking for our company and I had zero DOA's and not a a single has so a lot as a terrible sector. They have been in use for roughly 5 months at this time. |

Got 3 on four-ten-2007. Running in Raid for 3 years under no circumstances reinstalled win xp or had a difficulty or bad sector. Nonetheless quiet. The 3rd a single went in a youngsters pc fo rthe OS with no troubles either. Not actually a con. I paid 54 each and every plus shipping. Single Platter. This is the a single Tomshardware was testing that beat a single raptor in Raid . The coolest drives produced, all that yahoo. I have yet to see a negative WD personally. Noticed lots of other people with a capital S. There is constantly a chance of DOA Fedx assists the odds. |

I am running this drive in a Silverstone LC-17B case that has just two-80mm fans in the back and beneath load this drive runs below 38C. Comparatively I have a WD drive in my main Computer with a 120mm fan intake in front of it that runs at 28C beneath load.The drive is small, even so, that was all I was interested in - a primary drive to hold Win7 and some applications for preserving and playing my DVD and Music library. + Affordable+ Fast+ SATA+ Good $/GB+ Western Digital+ 7200RPM A tad noisy, but that doesn't bother me at all. Working with this in a USB enclosure for my backups. Very speedy. Seems weird not having to fuss with jumper settings and slave/master drive priorities like with IDE drives.I will use it as my Files drive in my new build which will have SATA. :)Then I'll put my old 320GB IDE into the enclosure for backups. ^_^ |

I in fact cannot think how quiet this drive has been. Of course it has been nearly five years considering that I final constructed a computer, but still... The overall performance is wonderful and the set up was uncomplicated. Not a 16MB cache, but at the price I paid, I won't complain. Other than that, there are no cons. Certainly a drive to get if you're developing a new method and don't want to devote an arm and a leg to get a new HDD. Tends to make a wonderful main drive for OS and Programs. |

It's a cool drive (unlike the a single it replaced), a nice drive (unlike the a single it replaced), and a drive that doesn't want a massive house fan blowing on it at complete speed to cool it nicely (unlike the 1 it replaced). The stupid low-cost junk Seagate it replaced was going 121 F average, 123 F max I assume. To make that issue cool down at all you'll will need a home fan blowing on it. I bought this with a WD2500AAJS challenging drive (and some fans) to replace the low cost burning-hot junk Seagate that employed to be in an HP MediaSmart EX475. It operates wonderful, the Seagate will now remain in a box with numerous other challenging drives.This drive runs nicely at area temp till you use it for a when, which it gets around 𞲞 F. This issue is not nicely cooled at all, and you certainly will practical experience diverse results even if you had a low-RPM low-CFM 80mm fan in front of this HDD. Just acquire it, don't take into account Seagate's selections, unless you like spending over 迀 receiving your information recovered. |

These 160 gig SATA really hard drives are my selection for new builds they do what I want cost is low and have not had 1 die on me yet and this was my 8 make employing them. none They function untill they get old then die. |
It's a functioning tough drive, for not considerably money. This is my new computers bottleneck, bringing my new personal computer's Window's experience score down to a five.2. If you are building a rig, and hunting for energy, get a faster drive. But do you actually require a lot more?
