Very good value, IDE interface for older Computer's Spotty reliability, failed soon immediately after installing it. If you read the reviews on this and other Blue/IDE WD drives, it seems you will either get 1 that operates wonderful, or you will get a drive that is DOA or will fail quickly following installation. Regrettably, the drive failed within one particular day right after installation. I required an IDE drive for my father's 'old' technique hence the will need for this drive. Installed the drive, formated and installed a ghost image onto it, and it worked wonderful, early the subsequent day the Computer failed and wouldn't boot. I booted with a diagnostic CD and ran diags against thee drive and the drive was poor - couldn't think my luck of the draw. Bottom line, it's the luck of the draw if you purchase this drive.

Operates fine, appears quiet and quickly, not high-priced. None so far. Added it to a five-year-old Core 2 Duo Dell desktop and upgraded to Windows 7. Functions like a charm so far.

Inexpensive. Appears reasonably rapidly I guess? I haven't gotten any errors or anything. Almost absolutely everyone here says this drive is "whisper quiet" or "silent". So... how come mine is loud sufficient to hear although I'm sitting two ft away from it? Could it be that Newegg shipped me a different drive? Or, perhaps absolutely everyone has hearing difficulties and I just have an much easier time noticing it?This drive isn't silent at all. Even above all of my noisy fans, it's perfectly audible and the clicking sounds it makes while searching for are virtually unacceptable. Some folks say that this is the sign of a failing really hard drive (fortunately, I HAVE been taking precautions and carrying out backups) but the noise has always been there, since I 1st turned on my pc.Certainly it's the noisiest when booting the laptop. I just don't know any longer. I bought this in Jan. 2010, and now it's April 2010. I can't return it or anything. I guess it's just the hard drive's nature.Maybe I'll really feel much better if I run a handful of much more tests and make confident that other than the noise, it's in best working order.

Whilst the drive worked it was rapidly and quiet. The drive died on me after about two and half months. Unforunately I am having a terrible time with western digital drives not too long ago. This drive was purchased to replace my 160gb WD that was becoming utilised to back up files. That 160gb WD died immediately after about four months of use as properly. Not certain if Western Digital changed how they make their drives, but I have 60 and 80 gig drives created by WD that are nonetheless working perfectly for more than five years.

This drive has a fantastic price for 320 gigabytes of space, lots of room to, great drive for a principal OS drive or storage drive for movies, photographs, music. Only shows 300gb usable, but this is typical with all challenging drives. I bought it in December, a excellent upgrade when developing a new Pc, Replaced an old short-term 40gb drive.

Owned this drive approx 9 months, performs properly, no issues I can feel of. Some have claimed its noisy, but I've never ever heard this drive. Not too long ago ordered the 16MB Cache version of this identical drive, hopes it improves my WEI score. Buy it! 5.9 WEI, Windows 7 64. This appears to be the typical for these varieties of drives, so I didn't take of an egg for this. I know, I know SSD will increase my WEI score, but I'm just not prepared to make that adjust yet. For now, platter drives are "reliable" sufficient so extended as you generally back up your information.

Worked good, ran quite & cool. Had certainly no problems with this drive. It had plenty of space for my needs, and I ran Win7 on it just fine, until I switched to Ubuntu (ver 9 & ten). Then... ... it died, without having warning. I only knocked 1 egg off for this, as I recognize this is pretty uncommon. By dead I mean it doesn't even show up in the BIOS. Popped it in yet another pc to try & recover data, and it doesn't seem anywhere. Was unsure about Newegg's warranty procedure, as its well outdoors their 30 day common warranty. Ended up going directly to WD and getting into in the serial #. Its eligible for warranty with them (until 2012 :) so I am RMAing it straight with WD.

I have owned this difficult drive considering that May of 2009 and it is nonetheless functioning wonderfully for me, in contrast to my seagate 7200 rpm tough drive. not as quickly as SSD certainly If I had identified about the return policies on really hard drives then I would have taken additional care to preserve all the original packaging for my tough drives... Make sure you retain the packaging like the anti-static plastic so that just in case your hard drive fails you can return it without possessing to locate a "trusted challenging drive packaging dealer" to RMA.
