Quiet, dependable, rapidly... Nothing so far. I've applied two of these drives for a couple months now. They've had no challenges operating raid or 1, linux, win 7, or xp. Incredibly satisfied with them.

very pleased with the drive. had it over a year. Droped my filing technique a couple of occasions but I think that had to do with a psu not the drive. Appears fine now that ive swaped out the power supply. Also the sleep problem. When the machine is awaken from sleep the drive may possibly not show up. this is a windows issue not seriously the drive. (even tho a drive firmware repair could prob take care of that difficulty. But excellent luck obtaining a single from wd lol.) windows only give it ten secs to respond and spin up. then it occasions out. there need to be a windows update that will repair that.

Nice specs for the price tag. Have not had an opportunity the bench mark. I bought two and I'm operating them in a Raid configuration with an older Seagate operating as a backup. Not surprising that on the Windoze 7 functionality rating these have been the low score, five.6, but that is to be expected given that the HD is usualy the slowest element. All round the system is snappy and quiet which exactly where my two most essential criteria. Becoming bare drives they didn't come with any cables or mounting screws. Given that I had lots of both this is not a major con for me, but could be for a person placing collectively a system for the very first time. So not actually a con more of a purchaser beware. Also, I seriously miss those "wonderfull" blister packs, these come packed in static proof bags, that always slice open my hands, NOT.

its stores data didn't come pre-loaded with cool midget videos I'm utilizing it for my program drive. Confident I could have spent twice as significantly for 1Ǚ of the storage and got an SSD...but wait. What was I saying?

Performs good. I bought a seagate 5 years ago that was DOA and swore I wouldn't "repair" any additional computers. This drive has restored my faith in upgrades. Haven't observed any however

This is the initial DOA WD drive I have ever gotten. Lost a little faith in WD. If you construct adequate systems you will sooner or later get a DOA HD.

So quiet, so quietFantastic overall performance, yada yadaSpins a single 320 GB platter, so its fuel effective as properly! Beginning to get smaller compared to todays requirements but still adequate.Newer drives have higher platter densities 鸴 GB / platter) so a 500 GB really hard drive would "technically" offer much better overall performance. Though no matter if or not that performance improve is noticeable to a human could be arguable. If youre not going to be placing films on your computer system (legal or illegal) this drive has more than adequate space for the forseeable future. The explanation really hard drives are so substantial these days is simply because of motion pictures, not mainly because typical file sizes are expanding. A single DVD requires eight-9 GB, a Blu Ray is 20-25 GB....you do the math, it doesnt take lengthy to fill a couple of TB with films.

It's a Western Digital solution. I have a tendency to stick with results, right after I've found it. Stuck this on a MSI FX790-GD70 motherboard and it just...worked. As does it's older cousin, the WD400 (which is still operating just fine!) on the very same mobo. ;-) Heh, the organization has to make a profit to stick about and service their gear later. This is like the 30th HDD I've purchased from Western Digital due to the fact 1996. I've only had 1 fail in all that time...and it was six years old with nearly 24x7 service.I've in no way had an issue with any challenging drive so, I can not comment about the company's return or swap-out policy. They make a strong product, I will spend a bit additional for peace of thoughts.

-Moderately rapidly-Great storage for the costƒ years ago, you can get 1tb for about โ now) -1 broke following a couple of months-packaging was terrible, just wrapped in a thin layer of bubble wrap. Hold in mind this was two years ago, hopefully Newegg has gotten their challenging drive packaging straightened out. Purchased two of these for 2 computers around 2 years ago, I heavily use my pc, following a few months it broke down. I sent it in to WD and they gave me a replacement, has been working fine ever considering that. The other one in a computer that's rarely applied, nevertheless operates fine.

Boring in the best sense of the word. Moderate capacity, moderate speed, moderate power consumption, moderate value. A great default drive if you don't know what you require, or if you want to standardize on an OK all about drive for a variety of applications. More than the last year or two I've accumulated seven of these. Four are in mirrored pairs in two servers. Two are in two workstations. One particular is a cold spare in the drawer. Good issue about standardizing on one particular drive is that a single spare covers anything. No DOAs. No installation or compatibility problems. Not exceptional in any respect either. A caviar black would be more quickly, a Green Energy would be a lot more energy effective. A Velociraptor would be both. (Any of these would be much more high priced although. A Velociraptor would be Substantially much more costly.) Back when i began purchasing these there have been quite considerable value variations involving this drive and anything else that offered a considerable advantage. My priorities had been mirrored drives on the servers and a spare on hand and the modest price of this drive created that achievable on a very modest spending budget. I would have liked Green Powers in the servers, one thing rapidly in the workstations and spares for almost everything, but it just wasn't economical. Since then the price tag gap has narrowed. The rates of some Green Energy and Caviar Black models, entry level SSDs have come down, and a small Velociraptor has develop into obtainable at a sane price. The price of this drive has remained pretty much the exact same. So if I was beginning from scratch suitable now I would re-evaluate the economics of using more specialized drives.

Relatively substantial capacity, high good quality, solid drives at a affordable value with totally free shipping. Bought 3 a when ago to construct a RAID 5 array for my file server. A tiny immediately after a year, one particular of them died. Its sucks, but the other 2 are going powerful, it was possibly just probability. I at the moment own 7 WD drives, and this was was the 1st time I've ever had a dilemma with 1 of them. Thats a lot better than some other manufactures that I've been talked into getting from.

Extremely quiet, quicker than expected, 16 mb cache a plus. I was worried about the "Blue" line being slower but it feels just as fast as anything I've used in the past. The head parks itself just before the computer shuts down. WD won me back right after I seasoned the click of death. Scores a 5.9 in W7 HP 64 bit. None Had a Seagate 1 TB in my media center pc which serves up recorded tv and music to xbox 360 extenders in the residence. I got the click of death which then forced me to go back to WD. I wish I would never have left. So substantially quieter, cooler, and I have peace of thoughts with all my media now.

Second 1 of these drives I've purchased, most likely won't be the final. The excellent is great, the drives run cool and quiet, and they're even fairly rapidly. When you catch these Western Digitals on Shellshocker or other sale, the value merely can't be beat. None at all. Will be acquiring a third drive for use as a backup in an external enclosure soon.
