Purchased this to go with a Gigabyte GA-H67M-D2-B3 Motherboard and i3-2120 CPU. Made a excellent system, boots quick operating in AHCI mode. Multitasking seemed excellent as properly. Can't speak for longevity, but I guess we'll see. I guess I was a small disappointed with the read/write speeds. This registered 120 MB/s study and about 99 MB/s write, which even though excellent, nonetheless wasn't practically as rapid as my Samsung HD103SJ, which is nevertheless the fastest 7200 RPM drive I've ever employed.

Lots of speed and capacityy for the price None! Utilised on a Vantec SATA HD PCI controller to update my P3/D815 MB which I not too long ago recapped. With the dual processors and 32MB cache I have all the speed I can wring out of the box. Cleaned up and reimaged my old W2K and added Ubuntu 10.10 to make a dual boot technique. With a new Seasonic PS the technique runs much better than new.

-Disk functions-Pretty quiet (cannot hear the HDD head)-This disk is quick-Passed a badblocks anxiety test effectively -SATA six gbps is good, but there's no point considering that it's physically not possible for the disk platter to read/write at those types of speeds.-The three gbps equivalent of this disk was truly far more pricey than this a single, so I went for the six gbps version (this). The six gbps standard shouldn't be being abused for inclusion in HDDs that don't even measure up to the speeds.. But I knew this prior to purchasing this drive.I would've went for the 1 TB version of this disk, but decided against it given that this disk would be only holding my operating technique and some other information. All my media's on my Arch Linux webserver with a RAID5 array that my program mounts automatically upon boot.

Western Digital won't work for Raid with my WD Black Diamon 1GB Sata drive. Thought I ordered the similar 1 GB BBlack Diamond Sata drive that I ordered in N82E16822136284. Having said that I got invoiced and deliver a 500MB WD Sata. Raid isn't going to function like that. RMA time.
