Excellent drive so far. Silent, can't even hear it. Installation was uncomplicated in my early 2008 MacBook Pro. Formatted easily, no problems. Tends to make a noticeable overall performance enhance over the stock difficult drive. XBench ratings jumped very higher, my general machine score went up to 143 from 100. Biggest difficult drive to date that will match in all notebooks. I wish I could've gotten the 1TB, but it won't fit in my personal computer. No problems so far, I've by no means had a WD drive fail on me. Value possibly? If you will need the storage space and will need a 9.5mm drive, this is it. Glad I bought it.

- Greatest regular ƙ.5mm) size laptop really hard drive to date- Speed ƒ-375GB platters)- Advanced Format (larger default sector size makes it possible for slightly a lot more storage space)- Decent price tag for the size - Sophisticated Format (only functions natively in Vista and 7, XP demands unique software program and other tools/ OSes may not function) Unlike other incredibly large two.5" laptop drives, this drive is the regular height which suggests it will work with any laptop. The 1TB Western Digital two.five" laptop drive currently being created by Western Digital is larger in height so it can match three platters into a drive. This implies the drive only works with certain laptops. I'm positive a normal sized 1TB laptop drive will be out soon sufficient but this 750GB is good buy for the time becoming.

Quiet, High Storage Capacity Games do not run well on PS3. The WD7500BPVT utilizes an sophisticated formatting style that makes in-game video stutter, causes audio concerns, and frame fate issues. This appears to be a excellent drive for standard storage usage. I uninstalled from PS3 and put in my Macbook as an alternative. Functions great beneath OSX.

Upgraded my 40gig PS3 with this drive. No challenges so far, tons of space. The actual capacity of the drive shows as somewhere about 690 gigs. I'm not positive what is up with the false advertising that constantly takes place with hard drives. Why not state the actual capacity 黼 gigs)? As soon as formatted by the PS3 + my pre-existing information, 90 gigs is utilized up for some strange cause. That still leaves 600 gigs of storage, but it's odd that this significantly space is employed up coming from a partially filled 40 gig drive.

9.5mm height, 375 GB per platter, 5,400 RPM. This drive and other Green / Blue drives, have a feature known as IntelliPark or SecurePark which parks the heads of the drive following a few seconds of idle time. This could make the drive feel slow; and you may possibly hear lots of clicking with the Load Cycle Count increasing extremely quickly. This has been documented on Storage Evaluation, Western Digital Forums, and Serato Forums, and affects any OS. There are utilities to cease the frequent parking, but I'd not bother with finding this drive in the very first spot. For a 9.5mm, 750 GB, five,400 RPM drive I'd go with a Hitachi 0J11563, Seagate ST9750423AS, or Toshiba MK7559GSXP.

This drive has the quickest xBench scores in a two.26ghz Macmini of any 5400rpm hdd. I installed it yesterday I ran xbench I got a score of 143. I have run ten other 5400 rpm hdds in the same Macmini none of them score close. 135 or significantly less. Quiet and runs cool. Fits in a Macmini. So it ought to match in any laptop working with 2.5inch. This is the biggest drive for a laptop/macmini that fits. This is the fastest 5400rpm hdd in 2.five type. value of 120 is very good. For currently this is the finest laptop hdd out there. Only ssd's are superior due to speed. But ssd's with 500gb storage price over 1000 dollars. Not as rapid as I want. Not as large as I want. But then once again I want a 2tb 2.5inch hdd that fits in a laptop with ssd speed and price one hundred bucks. Buy this now it is so considerably superior then something out there it will sell out swiftly. This would be a fantastic drive to turn your Macmini into a htpc/dvr. It is big adequate to shop a lot of tv recordings and rapid sufficient to handle HTPC demands.

Major. Rapidly (for a 5400 rpm drive). Operates great w/Macbook Pro 13.three" (MacBookPro5,five) and Snow Leopard, and Windows 7 on Boot Camp. Ideal price tag per gigabyte of any laptop drive. Not a 7200 rpm drive Every time I handle to fill up my difficult drive, Western Digital seems to have come out with a new difficult drive that's bigger. How cool is that?!

Much more storage than most, if not all, other 2.5" challenging drives that match in typical laptops.I was in a position to partition it and set up two OSes (Windows 7 and Ubuntu -- and Ubuntu was right away in a position to mount the Windows partition)Having so a lot space lets me install all these applications that I don't need and will most likely under no circumstances use "but wouldn't it be nifty to have?" -- Oh, and room for motion pictures and songs for the all the Media hungry zombies. It *might* be contributing to the noise from the fan (I can not confirm or deny that). Oh, and Full Drive checks might take a lo~ng time if you ever start to fill it up. Lots of elbow room for your information :D

Price tag per Gig ration. Speed is good. Quiet. My prior drive was a 7200 RPM Seagate and I haven't observed any actual planet slow downs. I run Parallels, Time Machine, Super Duper. All kinds of items that would trigger issues. none so far. When I 1st did the set up in my 15" Aluminum MBP I did have a noticeable vibration from the drive. Nevertheless, right after a day it has turn out to be Practically imperceptible. So, I wouldn't freak if you have some vibration following set up... it may well settle down.

Spacious & low energy None but I got this drive as the main external storage for a SheevaPlug-primarily based Linux residence media server. My key objectives was to come across a huge drive with low power, given that this program is powered 24ǝ. This drive was supposed to use .4W in spin-down mode, so the total program draws just below 5W when idling, and under 7W when fully loaded. The drive appears fairly rapidly. It is huge for a 2.five inch drive. The very best element is the low energy operation. The drive spins down when not in use. When operating, the enclosure is just barely warm. When spun down, the enclosure is stone cold. It seems to respond swiftly even when it has to spin up.

Biggest capacity drive for PS3 upgrade. Installed with out incident, and I'm now enjoying tons of new storage! None. As soon as installed you'll have just shy of 700GB of totally free space on the PS3, which is slightly less than 1 would count on, though far from not sufficient! Recall, you have to use a 9.5mm height drive for a PS3 tough drive upgrade, those 12.5mm 1TB drives will not operate!

Loads of space, fits in MBP 15" pre-unibody. Does make a slight whirring noise, nothing at all out of the ordinary for a harddrive. Just by no means noticed it with the OEM HDD that came with the pc. Not a deal breaker. Im in MD and the Newegg DC is in NJ, I got it subsequent day. Can't complain about that!

The highest capacity difficult drive that will currently fit in my 13" Macbook Pro. Spin up time is very long compared to the OE 250GB Hitachi, top to technique pauses (spinning rainbow). Of course you can turn off difficult drive sleeping but that's not very power friendly. It's reasonably loud, you can hear it spinning up and down and clicking often even though it's running in a quiet area. If not for the other evaluations on here I'd say it was dying, but if it is, that's what warranties and backups are for. Also runs pretty warm, though I can't say for certain if it's warmer than the original drive. Wanted a 1TB drive (I reside on the road, a lot, so I want space to retailer my video collection), but 12.5mm drives won't match in my Macbook Pro. This is the next ideal issue.

I bought a hard drive caddy for my laptop and put this hard drive in it for extra storage, as my main drive on the laptop is an SSD. Now I have a quick SSD for booting and programs, and a big HDD for storage. The only con I can think of is that the Scorpio Blue HDD is a little bit loud, but I think I am just used to the silence of SSD's. Great product!
