bought as a backup drive beside a ocz agility3 ssd in my sons rig.it works quietly,good size for his needs.the same western digital quality i have come to expect from this hdd manufacturer...wouldnt buy right now at the raised prices...ssds are looking better right now , but if ya need space! |

Cons: Probably my last hard drive purchase for a while (until the prices drop back to normal....whatever that will be when the manufacturers recover from the flooding).

We purchased this a boot drive for my girlfriends computer. She had a slow IDE system drive, and it took forever to boot into Windows 7.The system is now MUCH quicker, and boots up in about 60 seconds instead of about 3 minutes.She already had a 1.5TB WD green drive in her system, so she has more than enough storage.The only "complaint" I would have against this drive is that it is a bit noisier than most of the other drives we have in the house. You can hear the clicking sound as the heads move louder than the other drives we have. I'm not concerned that there is a problem, that is just the way these drives sound.For the price (at least until SSD's come down in price), it is a great drive. |

I use it as my main drive. The boot time with it is very short even without a SATA III cable. The build quality seem good (I don't hear any irregular noise) and the capacity is well over my needs. |

There are larger drives at slightly higher prices, but they would be an overkill for the system I have built. This one seems like a sweet spot between price and performance. Good read/write speeds offer reasonable performance, generous 64MB buffer size and the drive comes from a reputable manufacturer with a 5 year warranty. For my liking the drive is rather noisy while accesing data, low drumming noise, sort of like older PATA drives used to make years ago. I suppose you can learn to live with this, but it was noticeable from the start. Other than that no complaints. |

great hard drive. It was highly recommended to me and has been great. Bought it when it was on sale ($70).
