Good, smooth quiet drive, low cost cost. Would not recognize in bios as master, nor would it boot. Set to Master, cable choose, nothing. Lastly booted with setting of Master with slave present even although no slave drive. (second pin from appropriate next to cable select) Just glad it functions. None Attempted two different drives, each failed. Initial was DOA, so I RMA'd it and ordered a replacement overnight. The second could not be utilized as a boot/master, but did register in XP as a slave. Tried everything doable to get it up and operating as the master for a fresh set up of XP, as per my shoppers request, but all to no avail. Low price - unable to rate this drive (yet) Please see under The item shown is NOT an SE Caviar drive - It is a "BLUE" drive. The SE Caviar is the precursor to their newest "BLACK" series which doesn't come in IDE/ATA/PATA. This new "BLUE" drive is regarded "General Objective" and is a completely diverse drive. See "Other Thoughts" Just thought i would point this out to these who are not conscious that WD has decided to use the very exact same Model # for these BLUE DRIVES as they had for their Caviar SE drives which we assume is just Incorrect. They are completely distinct drives however have the very same model #?! This is causing a excellent amount of confusion as we can clearly see even Newegg is confused with their Item description differing from what is becoming shown. Most companies are totally confused by this and are advertising the wrong drive than what they send out. Drive worked correctly appropriate out of the box. Installed OS in a Dual drive Dual Boot set-up. Quiet and solid so far. None at this time, will update in 6 months or if challenges arrise. I believe that the packaging of this bare drive was good, bubble wrap and in it's personal box. I know for future bare drives I will make sure to order them with tiny or no other components. It is worth the s/h to retain the drives protected. |

This tough drive has so far proven to be reliable. It replaced an old Seagate ST380020A difficult drive I employed to have for 7 years. Though this tough drive is an ATA럼, I do not notice any difference in response time or speed compared to ATA렝. Wonderful hunting specs Only worked as a slave drive Purchased this to replace a failed boot drive in a pals older Vaio PCV-RX540. The Motherboard would not see this drive at all unless I set the jumper to slave. Right after many hours of tinkering, I was capable to get Windows set up and booting from the slave - but if we ever wanted to install a second drive, it would take some function mirroring this drive to another... not worth the additional function. I connected 2 other Western Digital drives as master with no this drive in location, and they were both noticed without any work, one particular being an older 60GB Caviar, the other a 120GB Caviar. I'm not confident what is distinct about this 1, but various other reviewers appear to have the very same difficulty with this drive. |
