Not DOA! As far as the actual really hard disks go, they are produced by a really short list of organizations and fundamentally all function the identical. When hunting for a portable really hard drive, it is all about the plastic casing that is around the drive. WD makes the bulkiest casings that have a low cost feel as if they would break if dropped. I was really disappointed with my buy. If you want sleek, with a high excellent appear and feel with durability to boot go with a toshiba branded transportable tough drive (i have dropped mine on pavement numerous instances and nonetheless functions). Shame on you Western Digital for making a sub-par item. |

Fast trustworthy compact tough light on identical side as plug, may possibly be good to have it on the other side for less difficult viewing of drive activity I've traveled with this drive to tropical climates for video information storage. The drive is light, quick, trusted and durable. |

I Adore this Drive, extremely uncomplicated and user friendly. I felt it transferred my files rapidly. Not sure about everyone else but I wasn't planning on dropping mine on the pavement So Far none, I guess I can see if some on wanted to put it in their pocket feeling like it could be a lot more sleek, but I don't genuinely believe it is big or bulky. I wanted something that was effortless to just plug in and use and this is specifically as I expected. |

Identified absolutely nothing incorrect with the plastic casing. Worked properly correct from the start. I shop a lot of video so I ought to have gone with a bigger drive. Newegg rocks. Have been a consumer for a couple of years now and have never had any troubles. Shipping and consumer service is outstanding! |

100 percent reputable in all regions. USB drives are a little slower than internal IDE/Sata drives but that's to be expected. In contrast to the critique about the drives case, these drives appear effectively built to me and I am incredibly pleased with their efficiency and durability. Absoluely None I have 6 of these WE 500GB USB Drives that are utilized to CLONE the challenging drives for each and every of the 6 computers on my network. It's rapid and straightforward to just attach these External USB HD's to a pc's USB port and perform the CLONE of the computers internal HD. I use the "Boot" disk made from Acronis TrueImage WD Edition Software. Definitely Good. |

AffordableDependableUncomplicated to useI like these 2.5" drives since I don't require a separate power provide. I've got two of these and they have been solid and reliable. I guess the other reviewer didn't like the way they look, but they operate just fine. It's a black plastic case with a USB slot in one finish. It does the job for me. Pretty slow writes. Maybe 1GB/min avg for large backup jobs. |

We have been utilizing this drive sort for doing image backups of all our computers. For me its benefits are: 1. Form factor. It is rectangular and can be stacked for storage. Also it is effortless to apply labels.2. It only uses 1 USB plug.3. To date (about five months) all the drives have been reliable. On one laptop or computer, it took a few plug/unplug attempts and reboots to get windows to see the drive the initial time. Never put all your backups on a single drive. Rotate via numerous drives. Absolutely nothing is absolutely reliable. |
It is modest and light. It is powered by USB so no require for a bulky plug. Light on same side as USB plug, would like it on other end. As to the guy that doesnt like the plastic casing...dont drop our really hard drives and it wont be a dilemma.
