This is the very best media player I've ever applied. Netflix interface involves the capability to add titles to immediate-watch queue. Make positive you set the box horizontally, with the shiny WD logo proper-side up. If set it upside down, then then the unit gets warm. :P This is absolutely nothing brief of extraordinary. I've paid additional, in the previous, for media players that barely played DiviX. Due to the fact adopting our very first WD Television Live Plus, we've canceled cable television service and discontinued satellite television service. My wife, myself, our 2 & four year old, my visiting mother in law, my going to parents, my going to good friends, and my individual good friends (who purchased the WD Tv Reside Plus upon my recommendation) all really like this device. Kudos, Western Digital.

Uncomplicated setup. Plays all key file types. Great good quality. Remote stinks. This player does almost everything its advertised to do. I plugged it in and was streaming from my NAS in 10 minutes. I selected an ISO and it mounted and played, with all the DVD menus. Handles HD MKV files that look great. The majority of negative evaluations look to be network related, and not a dilemma with the player. If your working with a switch on the node, make confident its a good quality brand gigabit speed. A excellent product.

Very first off I did not buy from Newegg. Does play a lot of formats. Reasonably quick menus. Effortless to upgrade firmware while it does take about 15 minutes. Most of my HD MKV's have problems with this unit stopping at different points in the video. It is really frustrating and requires you out of the watching practical experience. In order to proceed following the video stops is to Quick Forward previous the point where the video stopped but you do miss about 15 seconds of that video.

DTS and other digital sound decoding is fantastic. Ethernet connectivity to my network is excellent. Tiny size is great. Video quality of HD motion pictures is rather very good. Plays AVI, MKV, and other media types. File maintnenace only supported on FAT32 drive which can not hold a HD movie over 4gb. NTFS deemed a study only file system. exFAT not even recognized.Navigation by means of a movie is restricted to FF and REW at max 16x speeds. No way to skip to middle or ending.Menu program is horrible. File upkeep, if it worked with my NTFS network, is in a completely various menu tree from the movie/music playing menus. I also have a Popcorn Hour A100 and XBOX with XBMC. I have the original WDTV which did not decode DTS or have ethernet. This is a lot better, but I like the XBMC system a lot superior.

Plays just about something you throw at it, like some FLVs, Netflix, Flickr, and a lot more. Even got it to play a funky mp4 off a cheap cell telephone and it even created the 320x240 15fps video look half decent. For me the big one particular is no looking on Netflix. You have an Immediate Que that you can add films to, but you have to use a Computer to do it. You also get a couple of categories that appear to swap in and out at random with roughly 50 titles to opt for from.Another huge a single is the Youtube - 90% of the video we search for is not viewable on Tv-connected devices. And there are a handful of medium to tiny issues. We have about 50GB of music, largely albums but about four,000 singles in a separate folder. Most of the time this is OK, but the OSD often will freeze whilst paging by means of the list and you have to go back to the home screen and wait a couple of seconds prior to trying again. And there's no way to make playlists without a Computer. Finally, the OSD is not quite intuitive. For me it's fine - but my household doesn't care what a neighborhood drive or network share is - they just want to watch Tv!But my only genuinely Truly Major CON? Not enough tough disk space! :) Bought as a late X-mas gift for my two housemates - my brother liked it so substantially he slept with the remote for a week! Don't let the cons scare you - this truly is a fantastic little device, in particular for the price tag. "The Box" as my family calls it really was a hit.And some of the cons listed above might not even be WD's fault - I'm confident they're possibly forced to use what Netflix/Youtube gives them, no matter how limited. My recommendation if you get this is to look into the WDLXTV alternate firmware - it's uncomplicated to set up and you gain a couple of attributes in the bargain. Like Shoutcast, Youtube freedom and a couple of other people. I even have my own semiprivate Icecast station streaming into my living area - quite good!

Worked out of the box - you tube was the hit for the little ones, we applied the NAS access to show JPGs, avi files. VOBs worked too. It was a great purchase until the firmware update hit us. One feature was added - the USB port can deal with keyboards - that aids to enter search data for youtube, flickr etc. You tube is not working any much more. A service like Deezer was added - google it and study the EULA. This alter created it worthless for me. The legal agreements behind such boxes appear to generate final results which are not in the client interest - I will stay away from such systems in the future. WD does not present access to the firmware so it is not effortless to repair the challenge for myself keeping the unit. - I replaced the unit with a foxcon 330i mini Computer plus a free OS. I payed for my lesson. I do not comprehend why corporations make hardware on access to other services that can be terminated just simply because Google decided to push their Google Tv. Tiny footprint I own 3 other media players - a Sony and a Seagate Theater+, both of which play just about any file format flawlessly and, and here's exactly where the WD fails most miserably where they succeed: They hold a dependable connection with my Windows 7 servers. The WD can neither hold a dependable connection nor play Windows Recorded Tv format without losing sound. The firmware update does nothing at all to appropriate these challenges. I would hugely advise Seagate or Sony as I personal both and have had nothing but dependable service from them. Regrettably, I can not say the similar for the WD, which has been practically nothing but a supply of intense aggravation due to the fact its obtain. It will be headed back to Newegg post haste!

- Supports a big quantity of video formats.- Netflix help- Stream audio/video from Network Share or, Media Servers in your network (not supported on Roku) - Buggy Computer software. Sigh! be prepared to reboot the unit often.- Netflix "no audio" problem every single so usually (reset needed to fix temporarily)- Arbitrarily complains that unable to play video due to video format (reset, temporarily fixes the situation)- Remote Handle IR is exceptionally weak. Device has a lot of possible but they require to fix computer software bugs in a hurry. Maybe they want to even feel about going Google Television route or, at least make their supply open.

Completely silent, entirely cool, plays any file it can get it's teeth on, smaller footprint, intuitive interface, effortless networking. Right after the most recent F/W update, it has lost some responsiveness and has taken to reverting to the lowest video excellent settings following a reboot.....Wt?? Will sometimes take awhile to realize it can play a particular filetype....weird! As stated, these "issues" cropped up following the last firmware update, therefore the loss of one egg in my rating of this otherwise amazing tiny media player. Potential purchasers, do not hesitate to indulge oneself and buy this gem from WD.....you won't regret it! Leading it off with the fastest shipping in the US from Newegg and this is a no-brainer!

-Compact design and style (fits in a tight spot in my entertainment center.-Both USB challenging drive and wireless network interface operate excellent.-Plays full-top quality DVD films smoothly over wireless personal computer share. None so far. Compatible with Seagate Free Agent GoFlex Desk 2TB USB drive (less than 贄.00 at Walmart), and Hawking HWUN3 wireless adapter. Haven't attempted movie services like NetFlix but, considering that I've got quite a library already. Plays .ISO DVD files just like a stand-alone player, and just about every single other video or audio format I throw at it. It's sweet to have a virtual DVD jukebox, and net film player at my fingertips.

-Awesome Device, can play virtually any video format I've thrown at it, as properly as audio. Plays 25 gig 1080p Blu-ray rips fine AS Long AS ITS Over CAT5-Frequent Firmware updates is Undoubtedly a plus, as issues are regularly becoming resolved.-Facebook, Netflix, Youtube, Pandora - all Massive plusses IMO-When configured correctly, Interface can be somewhat intuitive - play about with the settings. -Rapidly FORWARD Blows, no "skip forward" functionality. Typically it will detect where the video stopped for a resume.-Still has glitches, scolling sucks for large media libraries (goes way to slow then waaay to quick)-Extremely "moody" streaming over wireless or POE - I Extremely advise pulling cat5 for it. I tried 4 various wireless adapters, upgraded my wireless router, then lastly got it to perform properly for ่ getting 1000' of cat5e. If you intend to watch HD content 鼐 or 1080), cat5 is a should. Over Wifi, often it wil stream an complete HD film without having a hiccup, but 7ቦ occasions it would choke at sometime and need rebooting to resume playback. Really annoying. I have owned 2 of these, and can safely say this is an extraordinary small device for the income, but if you are really serious about your streaming you'll be superior off with a zbox / htpc / popcornhour. All in all, exceptional device, and nicely worth each and every penny.

Play all files that I have. Plays You Tube video with high resolution. HIDM and Element video outs are not working after one particular year of operation. It is not the difficulty of the cables due to the fact they function in my BD players. The player video outs broke immediately after a year and two months, just when the warranty expired. It is not an isolated case as I found equivalent complains on net.

Plays practically any file. Easy to use. Tiny footprint and supported by Harmony remotes. Can mainly replace a Media Pc. Network hiccups, playback can slow to a crawl, regardless of connection form (wireless/wired), interface is not intuitive.Cannot designate a permanent network storage place as default for videos, and so forth. I like this box for what it does but the execution is poor. WD wants to invest just a little work in the functionality of the interface. If homebrew firmware is greater and a lot more functional, why can't WD figure that out.I also have concerns with movies streamed over my network. They will inexplicably slow down and the sound disappears......playback will stay spotty for a couple minutes then return to regular. Makes no sense (they are only ripped DVD's) and my media pc's have no such challenge. This is a wired gig network with an openfiler server with three TB of RAID storage. I'll continue trying homebrew firmware but won't acquire one more one particular out of the box unless WD gets their act collectively. I will admit it functions reasonably nicely for viewing pictures and using pandora, and so forth. on the web. The WAF (wife acceptance aspect) is practically there in these situations.

I adore the potential to watch several various kinds of video files on my High Definition TVs, as nicely as images and music. Occasionally it has trouble reading my WD 750gig Passport Difficult drive. Lately, I haven't been capable to connect to my computer system given that I upgraded to Windows 7. It operates completely with Windows XP. Also, you have to buy a distinct USB Wireless device to connect to your network . You can of course run a wire from your router if the Television is by the router. I lately bought a Roku Box thinking it was a much less costly solution equivalent to this. Boy, was I wrong. The Roku only performs with PAID SUBSCRIPTIONS to video providers on the net. You can't stream files from your computer or connect a challenging drive!

2- USB ports a plus! Operating WD Black 1.0TB, and 1.5TB drives in docking stations tied to the WD Tv PLUS. On screen interface not as good as some but is alright. for significantly less than 贄 I think it's quite worth the funds and program to add far more of these in the home! The up-conversion to 1080 looks terrific, incredibly impressed. Operating this device video output on my Panasonic Plasma appears better than I believed it could. A sweet deal to not have to go look for the disc on the shelf, but as an alternative scroll by way of the menu to come across your favored film, wish I'd performed this sooner!!!Though there are getting to be much more of these form of devices out there, this 1 has general had good reviews and in the end why I bought WDTV+ Go for it! Obtaining additional files on your drives slows down the booting/ reading process, but that's about the worst of it. HDMI does not pass by means of Dolby Digital or DTS, but the optional optical connector does. I have an AppleTV for streaming wirelessly so I have not connected this WDTV+ to the ethernet connection yet. I am utilizing it locally only.

I got this baby right out of the box, plugged it in, hooked it up to my Tv and it started functioning right away. The internet gadgets included are just awesome! - There is plenty of radio stations and online Television that I wasn't aware of prior to I bought this box. All my contents from the 2TB hardrive's NTFS partition is playable on this point. No flickering, no stops. The samba server is just perfect - now I can synchronize my files among my Pc and the box with out disconnecting something. Also I have to mention, the wireless card that I purchased wasn't in the list of supported cards, but with the updated firmware it recognized it right away.I couldn't be happier with this little box. I wish it had an net browser. But for 贄, what else could I count on? - This box is just best. Wireless connection speeds are slow if your router is a G. But this isn't an challenge if connected directly to RJ45, and the device ought to not be blamed for this situation. I am thinking of adapting a wall plate to pass a network cable.

WD Television Live + is functional and it will get your Computer media on to your Television. I initially purchased this to stream Netflix. I now use Netflix through my bluray because the interface on the bluray is much easier/quicker to navigate. I use Tv Live to stream Pandora and watch my movies stored on my laptop. My greatest situation is the cumbersome interface. Also numerous screens, no brief cuts for most applied folders. For example, I use Pandora each and every day. Every single time the GUI tends to make you choose Web/pandora/select account/. My pandora account on the computer system jumps proper to music. Tv Live must operate the same. I have all my motion pictures in one folder. I have to go by way of five-6 screens before I can get to the films. It is the similar thing for photos and music. I have study that the WD Tv Hub has a new interface that is able to customize folders. The downside is the dedicate hard drive that has had difficulties. I don't know why WD doesn't use the identical interface on the Plus hardware. You get a lot for ๳ and I have been utilizing it for practically two years. I got my income's worth but I am hunting for a replacement with a much better GUI. I have been avoiding the Apple Television and waiting for WD to get a lot more user friendly. It is frustrating when businesses take a solution all the way to nearly best and drop the ball. Itnis an easy repair but seeing that the Hub has upgrade GUI and th Plus does not, WD is content leaving the Plus as it is. I don't want to upgrade to the Hub mainly because I don't want a dedicated HD that will take down the entire system not to mention 贄 far more.
