Flashed DD-WRT to it to run as a bridge to connect my Blu-Ray and Xbox 360. I play xbox live over it with no challenges. DD-WRT makes this small ฮ router quite versatile. Read and adhere to the directions on DD-WRT's site. Also, very little None This is now my go-to router for fast installs for friends or loved ones.

It supports DD-WRT and it was very uncomplicated to flash the firmware, just adhere to the directions that absolutely everyone else has posted. This router is well worth it's price. Only supports DD-WRT micro.

None. It will not configure. It takes numerous minutes prior to the administration login web page appears. The 1st web page of the Rapid Setup is setting the neighborhood timezone. I do that and press the "Next" key and nothing at all happens ... even soon after 15 minutes. I've never had this issue with LinkSys wireless routers. I'm not a happy camper.

Flashed easily with DD-WRT micro software program (see extensive directions on the DD-WRT wiki). Has pretty great range, great throughput, fantastic stability so far. It filled the bill specifically for what I needed, which is a wireless access point providing great safety and usability in a place shared by a range of non-tech-savvy people. It's good that you can modify out the antenna to facilitate point-to-point communications or other greater-gain options. None, really. For the funds, it's just what the physician ordered. to install dd-wrt, you need to have to 1st downgrade the stock firmware - follow the instructions on the dd-wrt wiki web page for this router, and you're golden.

For non-technical customers, stock firmware is sufficient. For us techies, DD-WRT option is terrific. Supports a plethora of features; from WDS to RADIUS to advanced filtering to (essentially) ACLs to VLANs to advanced bridging to HTTP redirection to custom scripts to telnet access to, well, need to have I go on?This router should be far much more than sufficient for any household network. I would even use it in a organization setting (had I the want.)I've had certainly no issues with dropped connections as other individuals have claimed, this piece of hardware is freaking solid.Above all this, the price tag is terrific! Well, it is restricted to micro DD-WRT. Though I knew that going in, so it just barely registers as a con.Try as I might, I can come up with no other grievances with this solution. Pay no heed to the nubs who either brick the router, can't figure out how to install DD-WRT, or who don't understand the sophisticated feature set of DD-WRT. (Especially when they claim their tech level as "high".... I mean genuinely?!)You need to have to be conscious that you Should rollback the firmware to two...8 before upgrading the firmware to DD-WRT. I'll also note that firmware updates often have a tendency of failing if you try them via wireless, so use a difficult-line for this process.Basically head on over to SillyChicken for a detailed guide on upgrading the firmware to DD-WRT. The guide on DD-WRT's site is not very thorough sufficient for this model. On a side note, I'm pleased to see ASUS expanding their marketplace-base to networking hardware, they are a terrific brand supplying respectable goods at particularly reasonable costs.

Value...quite a few features DNS doesn't. I spent a lot of time trying to get this to function, then realized that the laptop wasn't receiving the right DNS IP address. Once I added the DNS from the ISP to the laptop DNS list, it connected just fine. I was receiving the routers's IP as DNS, but that doesn't look to function with this router. Seems like such an straightforward issue to fix. I uploaded the latest FW and that didn't assist. I'm nonetheless using the router with the DNS information on the consumers.

Compatible with DD-WRT.After flashing it with Micro version (See cons why) Performs flawlessly. Great signal levels (Surpasses my old router). Only 2M RAM - Limits to DD-WRT micro - > no advanced services, but enough for simple ones. (This is the reason to get 1 egg off) Will continue to obtain ASUS items if they retain this ratio of price tag/quality

Decent cost, straightforward fundamental setup Uncomplicated in-household application worked fine for 4 months then began dropping wireless connections. Wireless crapped out totally couple of days later. Tried resetting- no luck. Buyer "service" a joke. I can't give a decent assessment to any device that dies in 4 months of light use. Specs looked very good and it worked fine, but if it won't last, what's the point??? Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Asus Customer,We sincerely apologize for the overall performance of the router, please email me directly at aps_support@asus.com and give your serial quantity and or case quantity so that I may possibly look into the case and supply assitance. Thank you.Finest Regards,DonAsus Product Assistance

Performs Effectively with DD-WRTInexpensive (especially immediately after rebate)Connects to computer system considerably faster than my Linksys and Netgear routers (probably thanks to DD-WRT) Stock Firmware uselessAppears quite affordableNot sufficient flash to run complete DD-WRT (although I don't really care) When I plugged this in, I instantly flashed DD-WRT onto it. Pretty smooth upgrade course of action. Nevertheless, I couldn't get it to operate properly. Every little thing seemed to perform fine, but I couldn't get an online connection. I searched the World wide web for a when, but no luck. I was about to send it back to the manufacturer when an thought popped into my head. The address that my DSL modem had assigned was in the variety assigned to the nearby subnet by the router. As soon as I changed this, anything began operating. Since then, it has been smooth sailing. Performs like a dream. Much more capabilities than any other router I've ever had prior to.

See previous reviewer comments on how to flash, this review is completely based on DD-WRT being utilized as the firmware. I have two Xbox 360's and required them both to be in a position to see Reside AND play by way of program hyperlink over a wireless network. By setting up a WDS network at the house my computers, netbooks, and xboxes can all use the internet without an concerns. The routers have survived a couple of Halo parties without worries, and additional importantly without having game lag :). The only issue to note is that you have to use the DD-WRT Micro make as an alternative of the complete on version. Please make certain you can do what it is you want to do with the micro version of the firmware just before buying. Newegg's turnaround is usually the ideal. 3 days from order to the door step with typical shipping.

I can get all the computers to connect to it rather easily. Strong signal.Smaller footprint.Nothing complex. Can't get any of my machines to connect to the online. The manual that comes with it is useless.On-line aid isn't extremely very good.Practically nothing appears to function for finding it to connect to the net. ASUS forums speak about how persons are getting the similar problem with this model and not obtaining any good results on getting it resolved. Don't bother with this model. I guess in this instance you get what you pay for.... :(

It comes with regular asus web interface which isn't every very good. I installed dd-wrt sp2 and followed the directions by downgrading the firmware then changing the dd-wrt file name. It installed fine. DD-WRT firmware gives you the energy of enterprise at the cost of absolutely nothing.. appreciate it.. Newbies may find it tough to upgrade firmware..

Great attributes but dd-wrt disappointing on this router Advertised as DD-WRT Open Supply help... effectively DD-WRT micro create 14896 is most recent and... Wireless connection drops. Watchdog service reboots continuously since underlying ping doesn't function properly on micro make. Micro builds tie your hands as well a lot. Gave up on it. The U model with the USB port has larger flash and takes the common and greater builds. Get the U model! Numerous on net have gone back to stock firmware.

I bought two of these in order to set up a wireless bridge for an X-Box and Blu Ray player in my den. As significantly as I wanted to run Ethernet cable, this would have been not possible. I installed the most up-to-date version of DD-WRT "micro" onto each routers. I initially thought that I would will need to move my cable modem into the den, and run my computer, printer, phone wirelessly. Not the case. Immediately after undertaking some tweeking to the DD-WRT settings... the massive a single, turning the transmit energy way down from the DD-WRT default settings, I was able to establish a excellent connection between the router set up as the AP, and the other set to Bridge. Enabled QoS for the Xbox, turned on "Afterburner"... the connection to XboxLive is just as good as when the Xbox was wired to my LAN. My laptop also retains a great signal from the AP, no matter where I am in my house. Given the price of this Router, you can't go wrong if you are hunting for an economical wireless remedy. None so far. You don't truly require to downgrade the firmware on the router before installing DD-WRT. Instead, set up the ASUS "firmware restoration" utility to your personal computer, place the router into "recovery" mode, and flash the firmware directly to the most recent DD-WRT. Takes 5 minutes.

Uncomplicated to re-flash No usb port regardless of the reality there is a knock out for 1. Its quite easy to see the idea was there to put in a usb port on this but it is not there. Also my router came pre-bricked or with corrupt firmware. I had been intending to re-flash though so i had all the directions in front of me and the new firmware so it is now functioning. Dont purchase this model there is one out there with the usb which you will want anyway if you are a ddwrt enthusiast. This 1 also comes with a puny 2 megs of flash which suggests a micro construct.
