I've been using this router for two years now with zero problem.Installing Tomato was as easy as 123.Signal is very strong.Has never failed. Even once. Downloaded a few gigabytes.Highly recommended. Thanks Asus! |

Cons: Heat, 240MHz clock
Pros: PriceSupported by DD-WRTUSB Comment:
Runs a solid version of DD-WRT with printing and auto-mount USB support if you're willing to do the work. At $35, you can't beat the price. Purchases one for a client, one for a sibling, and one for myself over the past year or two. |

Cons: No Wireless N
Pros: Easy to set-up, use and customizeUser Interface very intuitiveWorks as advertised Comment:
I did some research and decided to purchase this modem because it was relatively cheap, had wireless (Although not Wireless N, it still fit my needs) and could be flashed to a different firmware if I eventually decided to do so. Overall the router works as advertised, and comes with a lot of features for a relatively cheap price. I would recommend this router to anyone looking for a home wireless router unless they needed Wireless N. |

Cons: None
Pros: Tomato/dd-wrt, USB, Decent Range and Speed, Inexpensive Comment:
I've used one of these on my network for 3 years without any issues running Tomato ND w/ USB. I only use the wireless for 802.11g devices (phones, older laptops etc) but the signal is strong all over the house and speeds are decent. I've got a whole bunch of these and other WRT54GLs scattered around the world. Once you put Tomato or dd-wrt on them they are rock solid. I've deployed these in situations where they were heavily taxed (house full of university kids all running their p2p apps) and even with the wifi and internet connections swamped the router doesn't slow down or need restarts. These tend to be on sale every few months and are well worth it at that price. I've always received the mail in rebate cheques, it would be better if there was no MIR but it's easier to jump through the hoops if you know you are going to get a treat. I've only ever had one of these die on me and it was within days of receiving it. NCIX were fantastic with the RMA and the replacement they sent out is still running two years later. |

Cons: none
Pros: ReliableStable Comment:
Flashed to dd-wrt works great no complaints, the flash itself is easy, wading through 9 million different articles and opinions as to how to flash and what version to use... annoying and confusing. Definitely not recommended for the non tech person. |

Cons: - None so far.
Pros: - 3rd Party Firmware Compatible (Tomato/DD-WRT)- Very stable- USB Port (File/Printer Sharing)- Low price compared to a similarly capable WRT54GL Comment:
Upon reception, I immediately flashed it to Tomato ND with USB support and things have been rock solid without any issues with QoS enabled for VoIP and a printer connected to the USB port.Using a 3rd party firmware and considering the price I paid (~30$), its definitely a great buy! |

Cons: Stock OS
Pros: Very good routerLots of featuresVery low price Comment:
Bought this router 2 days ago, and spent 3 HOURS!!!!! trying to get it working with my Shaw High Speed. Could not do it. Even worse, it would screw up when enabling wireless, and that would take me 10 minutes to re-set, or get it back to working. Then I flashed it to Tomato, and it worked like a dream. All problems vanished. Literally plug and play. So don't even look at stock firmware unless you want to waste time. Once you get over that little hitch, the router works absolutely amazing for the price. |

Cons: None.
Pros: Easy to install Tomato, QOS, wireless range. Comment:
I used to have DD-WRT on a linksys WRT54G-V5 and that died.I read good things about this router so I bought it. It works great with Tomato and the QOS and bandwidth tracking features are nice. The QOS is essential if you do P2P and VOIP on a connection with limited bandwidth. This router is also capable of MLPPP with Tomato. |

Cons: -None really for the price?
Pros: -Can install Tomato-As good as the WRT54GL Comment:
This is probably the best budget router you can buy. It's cheaper than the WRT54GL and has the same hardware almost. It's always been stable and I have 30Mbps internet. Downloading is always constant with Megaupload Premium. I own 2 of these and 1 WRT54GL and if I ever need another router, I'd buy another WL520GU |

Cons: - the original firmware does not work with Shaw
Pros: - cheap- works well with Tomato firmware- easy to setup- has printer port Comment:
Had to flash the firmware with Tomato. Once I did that, everything was a breeze.Great product for its price and what it does. Especially with the printer port. Will definitely buy again |

Cons: Flash memory not enough
Pros: Support DD-WRT with USB, virtually support Asterisk server with SAMBA Comment:
Flashed dd-wrt and then tomato with no problem, turning USB port into multi ports hub connecting to USB drives. Not only I turn a cheap sub $40 router into 1TB of NAS using Samba, I have successfully installed Asterisk server on this unit, kicking my VoIP server for 4 phone lines, not to mention a USB printer server too..Only issue.. the moment I turn on the wifi, all crashed... heck, what do you expect from a $40 router!!!! |

Pros: Cheap router (When on sale)Great performance (With tomato) Comment:
Been using it for a couple of weeks, this is to replace an ancient dlink router that was starting to go in the grave. Couldnt be more happy, didnt use the firmware that came preloaded, flashed and then used tomato.Have yet to do anything major with it as I usually just configure security and let it run its course. |

Pros: Great HardwareEasy to flash Comment:
Bought this router because my old dlink router was acting up. I flashed this router right away with teddy_bear tomato, and its working great. Still trying to figure out how to get print server working, but i have not tried long. Make sure that if you flash, you downgrade firmware first to pre 3.0. Use this link and follow instructions. Its easy |

Cons: One antenna maybe
Pros: Easy setupNice lookingCan flash to DD-WRT or Tomato firmware and use MLPPP!USB port Comment:
Very good router, very easy to setup with stock firmware. You can install DD-WRT or Tomato firmware, enable MLPPP with your internet provider (TekSavvy) and avoid throttling. You can use the USB port to plug your printer or an external hard drive and use it as a media server! |

Cons: mail in rebate
Pros: Cheap, looks nice, fast (AP only, no routing), USB port Comment:
Didn't even look at the stock firmware. flashed with dd-wrt and is currently running as a wireless print server and access point for a couple of workstations. Works like a dream, and looks slick mounted on the printer stand! dd-wrt was a bit of a pain (no printer server support with the default flash, had to enable jffs2 and install the printer server package manually), but certainly worth the effort. |

Cons: NOT WORK WITH SHAW. HAVE TO FLASH 3RD PARTY FIRMWARE
Pros: CHEAP, RELIABLE, Comment:
DID NOT WORK WITH SHAW OUT OF THE BOX. YOU HAVE TO FLASH FIRMWARE TO TOMATO OR DD-WRT. AFTER THAT THIS ROUTER WILL FLY. YOU CANNOT USE THE USB PORT AFTER THE FIRMWARE FLASH. |

This unit is great, especially for the price. Upgrade to some tomato firmware and you're good to go. |

Pros: PriceCan flash to tomato firmware or other 3rd party firmwares Comment:
I got this mainly for tomato firmware that everyone is talking about these days. Its a pretty good firmware has lots of features and such. I didn't find that it increased my speeds or fix my lag issues. So maybe its time to get a new isp. Overall can't complain about the price its a really cheap router to get if your looking to try out tomato firmware. Maybe it will work better for you. |

Pros: Great range, built-in USB print server, can run DD-WRT or Tomato firmware. Comment:
This is a very good router for the money. The bonus to this router is that it includes a USB print server. The ASUS firmware seemed to be a very simple to use but on the other hand, lacking in features. Honestly though, I didn't even bother with it because I had planned to flash it with DD-WRT all along, which was a very simple process, and now it's running awesome. |

Cons: none so far in my testing
Pros: CheapWorks with Tomato and DD-WRT firmware Comment:
I bought this on boxing day for $25.99 (after $10 mail-in rebate). Once unboxed, I loaded up Tomato firmware and its been running great ever since. I stream video files onto my TV (connected to my laptop) in the living room and I used to get a lot of internet slow-downs when playing games or browsing the web in another room. Now with this new router and Tomato, it seems there is less lag with other web browsing when I am streaming video. Definitely recommend this product and flashing with Tomato. Also, if you have time, look up how to set up QoS if you have multiple streams going and want to ensure your internet browsing is not affected. |

Cons: Single antenna for rx/txCPU not fast enough
Pros: DD-WRT and Tomato capableUSB port Comment:
Purchased to replace an aging WRT54GL. The price is unbeatable when it goes on sale. The cheapest DD-WRT capable router there is with 4mb of flash and 16mb ram. Handles over 2k connections once hacked. Print server works fine, even with 2 printers on a powered USB hub. Firmware restoration mode makes this router almost brick free unlike the linksys.File sharing works straight out of the box and works with DD-WRT. However the 200mhz processor is not fast enough to transmit USB data faster than 1mb/sec, a lot slower than that most of the time.DLNA media server works with a little tweaking in DD-WRT but because of the less than 1mb/sec usb limit only lower quality xvid/divx and music can be streamed. No hope for 720p or 1080p.Highly recommend this router for someone who wants advanced control over their personal network or a linux device to tweak without spending a lot of money. |

Cons: - Bought at 29.99$ but price went down to 25.99$ after 2 weeks :(- I got owne for a few bucks
Pros: - UPC code can be torn so u dont need to break the box to ship the mail rebate- router is white so is less dusky Comment:
looks like a cool router, unfortunatly it's US warranty i believe, well you must ship to US if RMAwill eventually flash with tomatoes filmware, but I will only use it as print server with my dir-655 and hope it will work! |

Cons: Slight high-pitch sound
Pros: Easy to flashMore stable than linksys with default firmware when flashedRelatively compact sized Comment:
As soon as I opened the box, I flashed it with Tomato firmware. It has been almost rock solid since, except for couple of minor occasions where there was a brief drop/lag. I think this was ISP's problem.Logging feature can be great for troubleshooting purposes.Definitely recommended, but can't comment on this product with default firmware since I've never used it. |

Cons: USB print server doesn't always work
Pros: cheap, quite reliable Comment:
the only complaint is the USB print server, it doesn't always work. I ended up getting a standalone print server. |
