It does specifically what they say it will do. Setting it up is extremely easy, Netgear has undoubtedly enhanced the setup computer software, nothing like it was a few years ago. ten min. max. none I like the truth I can turn off the wireless if I see match. A good upgrade for future applications also. ( streaming films to television, ect. )

The interface is one particular of the quickest I've noticed in a while for a SOHO router. I only use it for its 802.11 qualities and not as a router, so far so excellent with the wireless coverage. It does what it says. When the interface is fast, it's lacking in a lot of sophisticated functions! For this price and a model with these chipsets and attributes Netgear undoubtedly desires to capitalize a little additional, then again I comprehend they are keeping it easy for the common public. I've only had it bomb out a couple of occasions when messing with the settings. I've had to restore it to factory settings once simply because the wifi settings became crossed and wouldn't let me allow/disable radios or set SSID's. I can't wait for a DD-WRT compatible firmware to truly blow this point up. This WNDR3700v2 is not compatible with DD-WRT as of writing this overview on 01ተ񳏋.

Simultaneous dual band with firewalled guest networks with diverse passcodes. Gigabit LAN. Stable and Trustworthy. USB port doesn't assistance printer sharing, only files. Have had some minor UPnP problems, but have not been in a position to trace them to the supply but. The LEDs are a tiny on the bright side(now I'm getting picky). Applied a WRT54G for years and got applied to obtaining to restart it when a month. Switched to the WNDR3700 when I wanted to upgrade to a dual band 802.11N router. Have only had to restart it after or twice and I suspect these instances had been really due to the modem not the router, but restarted it anyways.

* Good hardware* Strong transfer speeds more than wireless (about six-7MB/sec) * SSH connections drop after a couple of minutes creating this unusable for me. I bought this router on the assistance of quite a few testimonials, each from review internet sites and user feedback. I believed I had identified the very best router. Regrettably, my SSH connections (which I am utilizing all day long) hang after a couple of minutes, requiring a manual reconnect. This is a known issue in the Netgear forums and regrettably there are no firmware fixes for this issue:http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?tI've already returned this and will be receiving a D-Hyperlink as an alternative.

Solved my HD streaming problems.Paired with a DAP-1522 my PS3 is on steroids now :)I use PS3 media server on my rig upstairs and HD streaming to my PS3downstairs is flawless now, I can quick forward 1080P HD content at 120X with no big delays or errors.Transfer file speeds involving my computers more than the wireless is great. doesn't play with my cat :) Why would I waste time to flash with DD-WRT if it functions good out of the box?

After a painful set up, (their setup wizard software in no way seems to operate) the router worked flawlessly. Where to start off.... About a week ago, I noticed on my SmartWizard Router Management software that a firmware update was accessible. So, I clicked the box to have the update installed. It turned my router into a brick. So I known as Netgear Tech Support expecting a valuable hand given that it was their update that blew up my router. This was by far the worst encounter I have ever had with any corporation's tech support. Not only was the initially Netgear get in touch with rude, when I asked his manager, he hung up on me. So I called back and ultimately got to a individual who mentioned they were the manager, and he was even worse. They wanted me to carry my pc and monitor up into my closet that has my cable modem in it so I could send an email to their tech support. (sorry, guys no laptop.)That was not going to come about. So they then told me I would have to spend for tech assistance to have the difficulty resolved. There is no way I am going to spend for help when it was their firmware update that messed up my router. Not even Microsoft would attempt to do that to their customers. So, how did I get the difficulty fixed? It was Comcast tech support who truly cared adequate to support me resolve the issue. Can you believe it? Netgear was beat by a cable corporation for assistance!! They knew what the challenge was appropriate off the bat due to the fact it appears that Netgear routers have this issue relatively generally.. I am so disappointed with Netgear...DON"T Obtain NETGEAR if you feel you will ever have to contact tech help....

You may have to tweak a couple of settings to get it right.-1 Year Limited Warranty. I have heard that many folks have been finding "dead routers"? It sort of tends to make me wonder what if this 1 dies. I am a IT Networking Key. I like to experiment with diverse routers so far this one particular is the very best I have tested. The Netgear N600 Router is a incredibly good design at a excellent price tag of 129.99 with totally free shipping from newegg.com you can't seriously beat that at all. I have previously personal a Linksys WRT160N that only last a small more than three months prior to it kept dropping connection. I also previously own a Belkin N1 Router that was 1 of the very first wireless N routers out. The Belkin final for approximatively 4 years prior to it began to disconnect.

It has a decent range, supports wide channel on 2.4 ghz so you can get 270 - 300 mbps on 2.four (linksys E3000 can not do this). It is actually quite quick when you have a excellent signal, streaming video flies. NO VPN Assistance! I can not think a router of this price does not support vpn pass by way of. Netgear claims that it does, but I searched all of their forums and discovered several folks with the very same problems and no functioning resolutions and when I named India to ask for help when I could not connect, I was told I would have to pay for best level assistance. I have decided just to return it. The 5 ghz variety is really restricted, but this is true with the E3000 as well. All of my ports had been forwarded appropriately, I was attempting to connect from a Computer operating Win7 x64 Pro to a Server operating WinServer 2008 R2. I have attempted two linksys routers (wrt 310n and E3000) and each connect effortlessly and rapidly. For the cost of this unit, I must 1. not have this dilemma and 2. not have to pay for assistance for a function that is advertised by the manufacturer.

Runs 2.4GHz and five.0Ghz. Lets me have the key Computer on it's "own network." 5Ghz doesn't have quite the range as 2.4GHz (no knock on Netgear as that is the nature of 2.4 vs 5.0Ghz). It would be nice if the range of 5.0GHz was a tiny better but that is just wishful considering as this signal is coming through multiple walls and furniture to get to my desktop. I have a desktop, a HTPC, a PS3, an XBOX360, a G2 phone, and an iPod touch. I wanted the desktop to be on it's own signal and all the others on a second signal. The desktop runs on the 5Ghz Linksys WMP600N, which is kind of unfortunate that it is the only internal card that ran on the 5Ghz, but it operates.

Lots of features. I personally like Netgear's router management pages -- really simple to use. Dual band n worked great. Frequent webpage timeouts working with wired connection. Became extremely frequent -- one or two timeouts in two-three mins of browsing. Became very irritating, to say the least. Spent three days troubleshooting this issue and wasn't capable to repair it. Did notice that fairly a few others are possessing similar concerns. Apparently a new firmware has been release, but some report that it's creating the issue worse. I can't confirm even though. Returned for Cisco E3000 and have had no issues with it. Your mileage could vary, of course, but the new router is so far infinitely additional stable.

- Easy to set up- trusted (for the most component)- Dual Band is fantastic- guest networks are nice as well. - P2p, and some cloud services kill internet connection (see notes below)- high-priced- N variety poor- no external antenna connectors If I try and run any P2P solutions, or cloud solutions requiring several simultaneous connections, the router loses its WAN (internet) connection every single 2-3 minutes. I reconnects after about three minutes. So those solutions are not even an choice. I think this is a identified challenge.I have it setup on a bookshelf, and routinely connect via 2 walls about 30 feet away. This nets me about 50-60% signal strength on the N network, and 90-one hundred% signal on the G network. I rarely hit 200mb/s on N. Nevertheless better than i get with G although.I either want to use my old router (wrt56gs) operating Tomato firmware, and connect the WNDR3700 as a WAP to get p2p functioning on the wired PCs, or replace this with a different selection.Other than the P2P troubles, the router works quite nicely.Purchaser beware. Manufacturer Response:I apologize for the problems that you are obtaining with the frequent drops. We have posted a new firmware version 1...8 that must enable with your existing issue with the WNDR3700 v2. Please click on the hyperlink to download the latest version of the firmware.http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_idIf the update does not help the connection what have been the P2P plan names you were operating?Thank you,Netgear group

Seemed good. . . . *when* it worked! --Wireless died following 3 months - OK. These factors come about, but how did Netgear handle it???-The initially tech help rep I spoke to ran out of troubleshooting strategies. So, he stated that he would call me back in ㅇ mins. . . . . but by no means did. What is that about?!?!? Figured out the router was defective, so decided to ditch me as an alternative of processing the RMA???__--Netgear's HORRIBLE consumer service/return procedure eventually gave me the choice of either:A) shipping the defective router back to them (at my expense)and getting to go With out a router till they acquire the defective one (only then would they ship the replacement)ORB) paying at least ภ.90 for them to ship me a replacement very first (so that I have a router for the rest of my network).-Pay to RMA a defective router??? What?!?!-WHAT A RIPOFF!_Based on this expertise, this is the last Netgear item I'll ever obtain (for myself or the corporation I function for). AggravatingDisappointing

- Lots of features; NAS, media server, dual radio, complete dual configuration such as guest SSID in each bands, QoS, fair range (haven't employed another N WAP to compare; replaced a V4 WRT54G w/ boosted db), WPS (haven't tested), DDNS support, IPv6 enabled, built-in site visitors monitor with bandwidth quotas. - Doesn't work with my PDA's wifi on any band. Laptops are all fine.- Configuring for plain AP use is uncomplicated, but figuring out how is not. - I've had the venerable WRT54G for seven years, and I bought it used. It's not broken, I just wanted N. I'll know in ten years if this was as very good or not. (grin) The WRT54G also *never* failed with any device, and this a single has already failed on the PDA. That's not providing me a excellent compatibility feeling ... if I didn't have mobile WiFi on the cell I'd be sending this unit back just before I'd go with out Wifi on the PDA. It's also significantly larger than I believed, about twice the size of the WRT54G, but it does have internal antennae and that could make it larger. I have a V1; V2 is out but V1 is supposed to be greater, just like the V4 WRG54G was better than the V5; Newegg was promoting V1 when I got mine. AP setup is hence: Set a static IP on the LAN, disable DHCP, plug switch into the network. Simple if you know the magic, and the setup page is nonetheless usable.- So far I'm happy enough with it; I took off a single egg for the Wifi incompatibility. Only time will inform if I remain that way.

Excellent features, effortless to setup and update firmware. After everything was configured, wireless networks and internet, I place it up on my network. Internet connectivity lasted five-ten minutes then Nothing at all. I cycled the power to the router and had online back....for 5 minutes. I decided to place the DD-WRT on the device to see if I could get it operating employing new firmware. NOPE....the device began dropping the WAN connection once again. So I flashed the original firmware that shipped with the device and requested my RMA for a complete refund. Keep away from THIS UNIT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

USB file share works very good. none Ok purchased this @ Wally Globe immediately after the ASUS router from the EGG (R 56N) turned out to be useless. Each and every Netgear router I have had Ɠ) has worked like a charm no difficulties. Any problems have often turned out to be other parts of the network. I have 11 total devices up and running 3 wired and eight wireless as I sort this. Not 1 issue. Set up took 20 minutes. What else could you ask for.

They can't issue RMA through e-mail, contact this #, named that #, they can't support us because it is past 90 days (that will teach us to struggle with it while the signal came and went), they gave us one more # to get in touch with - this # keeps disconnecting me...Nice gimic

Uncomplicated to setup, plug it in put in the CD and bam your network is up and running. Possibly have to power cycle everything first to make confident but that's standard of all networking. Supposedly supposed to do streaming video, gaming and so forth all at as soon as and be smart about the dedication of your net. As soon as I turned on Netflix almost everything on my net instantly plummeted. I have an older cisco router that's only 10럼 and I by no means had a difficulty with Netflix and numerous games operating. Also I had an situation with port forwarding, it setup the IP address for itself as ten...1 and I couldn't use that as an address to go to, I also couldn't use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168..1 it did some virtual stuff that I don't have a clue about so I was essentially never ever in a position to setup port forwarding. Port triggering worked fine btw. I known as Netgear and the only enable they could present me was moving me to the Pay4Service line. The net bogging down as quickly as streaming video came on though is the straw that had broke the camels back so to speak, I had already messed about with it all day I had had sufficient. Probably a great router if you're very technical savvy. I'm sure I could have gotten it to perform ultimately, but the lack of absolutely free assistance and the truth that I would have had to mess around with it to get it up and operating to one hundred% was a key turn off.
