I bought this because I was on a budget and setting up a new ftp home server. I must say this thing works great. I can stream HD movies from my server in the basement to my pc in my upstairs bedroom and my pc in the upstairs living room without any problems. My prior router would pause every few minutes this one plays all the way through.

If the router is recertified, it should be checked thoroughly to make sure it is in working condition. The one we received could not connect with our internet modem. The Netgear help line would not help me because it is considered a refurbished unit. Finally I had the Geek Squad come out to confirm it was a defective unit. Hopefully the exchange replacement will be a working unit and not more of the same.

On paper this was a great solution to our needs but in practice the refurb unit just never worked right. The internet was MUCH slower on the Netgear than on my old DLink 655 or Linksys WRT160N, and even with QoS enabled my VOIP would have periods where I couldn't use the phone due to garbled speech. I'll be sending my unit back but cannot get a refund only exchange and hope the new unit is better.

This is a good product from Netgear. Not the best, but you definitely get what you pay for. 300mb = full wireless HD streaming with no buffering delays. If you're having trouble with disconnects, just download and install the latest firmware from the Netgear site.

Nightmare! I could not get the first one to log on to the internet. I called Netgear and they would not not help on the phone because it was a recertified product (no serial number). Told me I had to e mail them. I did that and it has beed 4 days now and they have not responded. I contacted my ISP and they were able to get the device to log ont to the internet, but it would not acess any other computers on the network. I contacted my computer tech and he spent two hours with me on the phone and could not get the network to allow file sharing. I obtained a Return Authorization number and received a replacement within a day. Problem is, the replacement doesn't work either. The problem could very well be with me and my inability to make this device work, but Netgear offers no phone support on recert products and will not respond to any e mail requests! at least Tiger understood the problem and they are accepting the second return. I ordered a d link
